I booked at the cooking school after reading other reviews, and it's everything and more of what I read, it's in fact an Awesome experience for those who Love Food.
We were picked up at our hotel, and driven to the morning market where we were shown different ingredients, that we would be using in the recipes today. We tasted some of the local produce which was a tasty treat. We then headed to the cooking school for breakfast, and to meet our fellow Chefs.

It wasn't long and we were in the kitchen, cutting and learning the most amazing things. The smells of all the fresh spices and fresh ingredients filled the air, and we were watering at the mouth come the first tasting of our Chicken Curry. We cooked 5 dishes in total, my highlight was the Spring Rolls made from scratch...

This was an unforgettable day, and we left with memories and recipes to take home.

Thank you to Irma and her team for making this day so pleasurable, someday we will be true professionals.

I can truly recommend this as a must do when visiting Bali, Sanur

I took some older family members to a cooking class here earlier in September and was not sure what to expect. The reviews really only tell half the story. The pick up and trip to the local market at 7 am was a great way to start the day as was the breakfast on arrival before the class. Bu Irma and her staff were fluent in English - which helps a lot and were fully up to speed with what was to be a delightful cooking class. The techniques and the explanations of the different herbs and spices was very informative AND IT WAS HANDS ON. The atmosphere was excellent and the 3 or so hours passed quickly. I would thoroughly recommend this class to anyone who wants to improve their asian cooking skills - there was a bit of Sulawesi style/influence - thats where Irma is from. My family members are still talking about the class 3 weeks later.

On our last visit to bali, we decided to try somthing different, and since we both enjoy the local fare, what better way, than to go somewhere to learn how to delve into it's delights.
Having no idea of what was available in Bali, a quick look on line soon produced the Bamboo Shoots Cooking School (in Sanur) It was the best decision we made.
The school was very easy to find, not that we needed to, as we were picked up from our hotel and returned at the end of class.
Irma was our host, and our teacher, her whole approach to the cooking class was first rate.
True to the website, the day started with a visit to the traditional Bali markets to get all of our needs, then back to the school to try our hand as future culinary artists.
We all got to participate in the preperation, cooking, and of course, eating of all dishes prepared.
The whole experance was terrific, and we would recommend it to anyone who wished to have a fun time, while learning the art of Indonesian cooking

The cooking class is one of the memories I will treasure most from our Bali trip. starting the day off nice and early at the markets was very interesting. Irma answered all of our questions and I was very curious about everything!

we were treated to a lovely b'fast before we even started cooking and it was delicious and truly needed as we left home at 6.30am!

I loved how the kitchen was set outdoors and how clean everything is. It was all so laid back and at the same very hands on. Irma never stops sharing her knowledge and her patience is impressive!

Rosie was also wonderful and both ladies were a pleasure to spend our morning with.

We love food and thoroughly enjoyed this experience. We slept like babies on the car ride home from sheer exhaustion from all the excitement!
