We stayed on 15 May for 7 nights.

Room
We had a very quiet superior room. All the rooms are like chalets with balconies. Non smoking. They are two or three level buildings. The room is spacious and clean. Everything was in working order.

Beach
There are seaweeds growing in the water. It's a great pity the dead seaweed is not cleaned up. They are left on the beach. When it's high tide the water is littered with these dried seaweed. We came to swim in the sea but it was quite terrible with the dead seaweed swirling in it
During mid tide it was better. The dead seaweed is left on the shore so the water was cleaner and really good for swimming as the waves are very calm
When it's low tide you could really walk way out.
Oh, there are stray dogs on the beach. They are not ferocious but one did run away with somebody's bag left on the sand

Food
We didn't eat at the hotel since we can take only halal food. Fortunately, there are three shops selling halal food including Nasi Padang.

Shopping
The hotel provides complimentary shuttle to Hardy's shopping center. It's a two storey building with a supermarket and a small bakery. Here, you can find clothes, souvenirs, paintings and a lot of other stuff

To the right of Hardy's on the main road is a coffee joint called the Kopi Kiosk. I had a really, really good cappuccino there. There are also very nice muffins and cakes to have with the drinks. The guys manning the kiosk are very friendly

Transport and tour
We had a private driver to bring us to Angseri hot spring and Geger beach in Nusa Dua. He drove us back to the airport. His prices are very reasonable. His name is Dewa and his hp no is +62 821 4499 4245
If he's not available, you can contact his friend, Agung at +62 813 3700 1474

We had a great stay at Mercure Sanur and a big thank you to the staff for making it possible

We stayed here for 15 days as a couple without kids. We arrived at 0:30 due to a delayed flight. Pickup at the airport was booked at travel, so no experience with the shuttle service. I do not recommend driving yourself, very chaotic traffic with more scooters than palm trees :).

Check in was a breeze with nice personnel, and within 20 minutes of arriving we were escorted to our room after a free upgrade due to our honeymoon. A very nice start! The reception is open aired, so it was warm, but hey, it's the tropics. Not walking constantly in and out of AC has it's benefits. The staff pointed out the restaurant and breakfast times so we got a easy start next morning.

The resort is lush with plants and everything is indicated clearly. There are two pool areas with bar. I'd recommend the one near the restaurant for both pool and beach access. Toilets at the beach were western/modern and clean enough. We didn't really have any trouble with mosquitoes. There were some, but repellent (50% DEET) and vitamin B did the trick. Wifi is slow, but great coverage in rooms and beach.

Our room (138, deluxe) was fantastic. Kingsize bed and a huge bathroom with rainshower & bathtub. Bed was soft with enough covers, room was made every day, with topping up of supplies.

Restaurant was good. Breakfast was basicly the same every day, but is was enough. Omelette station was very popular, but I mainly stuck to the yoghurt, muesli and fresh fruits. We lunched there most days for convenience. Western dishes were so-so, but that was in most places. The mie goreng was my personal favorite. We found out that the Indonesian/Bali dishes were very good everywhere we went.

Food is not expensive (lunch $6 pp incl drink, Dinner Indonesian starter/main & two beers avg $13 pp), so I recommend walking a short bit to the restaurant off resort too. You have the option to walk beachside to the left of exit the resort on the Sanur side to the right.

Beachside we can advise Bamboo bar for drinks (reviewed at the venture itself). For dinner we can REALLY advise to go next door to Retro. Cheap but very good Indonesian foor. Didn't try the western style dishes there. Dining on the beach for a fraction of the price of a hotel restaurant.

If you're up for a short walk of about 5-10 minutes, you'll find a lot of nice restaurants in Sanur near the hotel. Just exit Sanur side, and follow the road to the right. We ate there a lot. For pizza we'd recommend the small dining area outside at the Ari Putri hotel. Really cheap, but excellent pizza's! For Indonesian we can recommend the Tropical and Ayucious Trophy. Especially at the tropical we felt really welcome, and the food was GREAT (tip: babi asam)!

Skip desert at the restaurant and walk a bit further to Massimo's. Their roadside ice station has many flavors, and you get a huge amount of ice cream for $2. Just read the banner above the ice station to see how you can order.

Practical tips:
ATM: beachside, next door in the hotel lobby. Turn left at the beach, left just before Bamboo bar and follow the path. Lobby is inside under the highrise.

Water: Sanur side, walk 60m to the left just past a bar on a small corner shop. 1,5L of water for $0.50, but also has crisps and soda.

Learn how to say 'Thank you' in Indonesian (suksma --> sucks-u-ma).

We just loved our stay at Mercure, Sanur. We will definitely be returning. Loved the situation right on the beach, quieter than the rest of Bali, which is what I liked, but still not far away from shopping, restaurants if needed. The staff are just fantastic, always with a smile on their faces and all willing to help - recommend to any one and really loved it.

I had planned to stay here for 10days.
After waiting in reception (No Aircon) for over 2 hours for our room to be ready and then finding out I couldn't get in or to the front door as there was a step didn't impress me at all.
I'm a Paraplegic and sent many emails to make sure I got a wheelchair friendly room.
I didn't!! I could even get in the bathroom to use the toilet or shower. I only spent one night and checked out!!
The ramps here are VERY steep and dangerous!!
They had to add a temp ramp so I could get into the room. A thin piece of wood held down by sticky tape!!!
To get into the dining area to eat is a Horrendous VERY STEEP and DANGEROUS concrete ramp. Very short too which makes it a death trap coming down.

So if yr in a wheelchair, or use a walking aide or elderly DONT stay here.

The gardens are lovely and right on the beach.
The photos of the website are deceiving.
Pools and rooms aren't as nice as the Picts shown on Booking.com.
Pool was very warm(it's very hot here in bali) so you'd like to cool off in a cooler pool.

The meals were nice and staff are very friendly.
