We had booked club rooms, they were somewhat dated....
The Club capacity was insufficient for the amount of guests resulting in lack of chairs, long waiting times, wrong order deliveries, children running around, with a child even falling in the fish pond. The manager's reaction was exemplary as without hesitation two people jumped in to save the little boy. At times it was burlesque and I even wondered if these incidents were orchestrated with a hidden camera. They were not, it was reality. The italian restaurant at the beach showed similar problems, lack of organisation and orders taking forever.
We nevertheless would like to comment on the staff trying to make the best of the situation, especially Mr Urip (the Club's 'manager/life guard' who jumped in the pond) and Mr Agus Pri for his wonderful kindness and hospitality.

Dear Tehmine V

Greetings from Grand Hyatt Bali.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay with us in December. I was concerned to learn of the shorfalls in service and order taking you experienced during your stay. This is certainly not the high standards that Grand Hyatt Bali is known for and please rest assure that we take your comments very serious and shall look into the areas of concern. The Christmas and New Year Holiday season is our busiest time of the year with very high occupancy and a lot of traffic in the resort, hence it can sometimes get a bit crowded, especially during peak hours. I shall share your kind comments and praise with Pak Urip and Pak Agus, who I am certain will be delighted.

Once again, thank you for staying at Grand Hyatt Bali and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Thank you and best regards

The grand hyatt is a beautifull resort, its not new by any means but its well maintain. And got a good bali feel to its architecture.....unlike the monster mulia hotel nearby.

The good :
Each room, even the most standard got a sofa bed. Which for free they set up as an extra bed for your children. Easly fits 2 young childrens.

The service is great, i always chose club room the afternoon snack is well worth the extra cost and private check in at the club is welcomed. They always try to fascilitate all your need....early check in ok, late check out ...no problem.

Food is great, italian restaurant is very good.....bit pricey but good, large portions.

The beach is one of my favorite in bali, second only to karma kandara.

The bad.
Normal check in for regular rooms can be a bit crowded, and skip breakfast.....the cafe is to busy and can be difficult to even get a seat.

Room tip

Get the club room, they are on a separate wing....more privacy, private pool, extra service and great afternoon tea/snack

Dear Jonathan Giacom

Greetings from Grand Hyatt Bali and thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent stay with us. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay at our resort and in particular the rooms, food and beverage and services offered. We do take great pride in maintaining our grounds and beach front and I am happy that you felt comfortable.

The Holiday season and early part of January is our busiest time of the year and at times traffic can be quite high, especially during peak times for breakfast. We do offer a choice of three different breakfast venues and for our Grand Club guests, an exclusive lounge for breakfast and cocktail.

Jonathan Giacom, we thank you for your support of Grand Hyatt Bali and look forward to welcoming you back again in the near future.

Thank you and best regards

The property is really big - maybe one of the reasons for it being average. The only good thing going for it is the pools. The food is very average ( please save your money! ), they believe that if you can afford to pay for grand hyatt - you should get your own toiletries ( and oh by the way, if you forgot it - you unlucky dude). We, unfortunately missed the toiletries bag - and had to rely on hotel toiletries. Possibly, the
worst toothpaste ever ( I didn't know they still make small white tubes, with no brand ) . tried the razor - it was the most hair razing experience! Horrible shaving cream ( again white tubes...liquidy shave cream... god !!) finally hit the shampoo... whats with the hotel man... the shampoo smells like some minty thing - again unbranded small liquidy stuff. I guess the hotel wants guests to carry your own stuff, to me, it's just represents the mind set - oh, we have a cool location ( which I agree) - so rest of the things is not important. We ordered food at the garden cafe, salsa Verde - again, very average. No culinary expertise. I cannot finish this review without writing about the grand club lounge. First, they should change the name to time lounge. You could actually set the clock by the service time getting over. Clearence starts within 10 seconds of the closing time ( the precision could even embarrass NASA), we asked for a snack which had finished, it was 6.50 pm,
we were told that it was out of stock ( hello...then don't serve it!!) .
I could go on... anyways..my view..save your money... if you want luxury, stay @ a different hotel. Good location, worth 125-150$ max per night. And for heaven's sake, please carry your own everything - and if you forget toiletries, run across to bali collection before you even step into your room.

The location and facilities are great but the services including the maintaining, food, front desk, etc., were extremely poor. Unlike other hotels in the area, the hotel has no shuttle to the town to trap you at the hotel for spendings. Everything is charged including WiFii for 15USD per day. The restaurant with air conditioning for breakfest is often full after 8:30am. Selection for breakfest is very limit and poor quality.

Room Tip: Don,t stay at ground floor as it is wet and smell.

Dear DAVID H

Greetings from Grand Hyatt Bali.

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments regarding your recent visit. I am happy you enjoyed the facilities and location but regret that we did not meet your expectations pertaining to the services and products offered at the resort. We treat your comments very serious and will look into the areas highlighted. The Christmas and New Year Holiday season is our busiest time of the year and can breakfast outlets can sometimes get a bit crowdy, especially during peak hours. Very few hotels in the area offer complimentary shuttle outside of Nusa Dua but most, like ourselves have thrid party transportation providers contracted providing taxis at very reasonable rates.

Once again, thank you for your support of Grand Hyatt Bali and we hope to be able to welcome you back again in the future.

We were there for 6 days and the breakfast everyday was very boring and blah...coffee would take forever to come and not well staffed at all.
We had a couple of lunches at the pool and we had to beg the staff to come and take our order - most of the time they would make sure that they do not make eye-contact with you...incase you stop them!!!
Dinners - expensive and over-rated and bad service!

We were also there for the New Years celebration and for a fee - they had a show and dinner (with live cooking stations) - the show was ok but the dinner was the same as the breakfast...very very average!

The only thing great for the resort:
1. the property is beautiful!
2. A shopping mall walking distance so we could eat there - Thank God!

Room Tip: Skip the breakfast and have your meals outside!

Greetings from Grand Hyatt Bali.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent stay with us. I am happy to learn that you found the resort and facilities beautiful and enjoyable. I was however very concerned to learn that we did not meet your expectations with regards to the food and beverage offerings and service for breakfast and at the pool bar. As such I would like to offer my sincere apologies. This certainly doesn't represent the high standards that Grand Hyatt Bali is known for. Please rest assured that your comments have been shared and addressed with the concerned departments for improvement.

With regards to the New Year Gala Dinner, I am pleased you enjoyed the entertainment but again regret you felt that the food was only average. Your comments are well noted and have been shared.

We just came back from a weeks stay at the Grand Hyatt Bali resort in Nusa Dua. Sorry to say we didn't have the best holiday already after 10 minutes in the pool my daughter cut her foot on a chipped tile in the children's pool near the water slide. Unfortunately the cut was so deep and long that she needed 4 stitches - no more swimming fir her! To ad hurt to injury we had serious water leakage in the room where my 3 girls stayed after a day with heavy rain. The water poured down from the ceiling! I have to say this hotel is in a very bad condition and needs some serious renovation in order to call it self a 5 star resort! The over all service was also really slow and the beach was dirty - I can not recommend this resort to any one!

We stayed for a week over the Christmas break and found the usual level of service and standards missing, We stayed in a Club Room, which we always do, however this particular room we stayed in was very tired. We had terrible rain for the first 2 days and a leak in our room. We reported this however no-one came to investigate which was disappointing.

We spent a day in the spa and whilst expensive we would recommend it if you have the funds to do so.

We ate in all the hotel restaurants and although expensive comparable to other places in Bali the food was of a good standard and consistent. Our only complaint was the Nampu Japanese restaurant. We opted for the Christmas day set menu ($69++) the food was of a good quality with wagu beef and lobster however we were presented with wooden chopsticks, similar to the ones you get from a take away shop that you had to split to use. Lobster with splinters of wood was not enjoyable. Also, the plates were not cleared after each course which left the courses tasting some what similar.

One of the benefits for a club room allows you access to the club lounge. Staff were fantastic with a special mention to Wiji and Eka who were always friendly and attentive. My only erk with the club lounge is that after a long day you want to relax and enjoy a few quick drinks and canapes before your evening plans. Consideration has been given to smokers with a dedicated pavilion to meet their needs and would appreciate if the same consideration could be given to those who are not travelling with children and perhaps an adult only pavilion for them too.

The private beach, pools and gardens were well maintained and the property is across the road from the Bali Collection which provided cheaper alternatives for food and massages. Also, a 10 minute walk to the main gate to Nusa Dua provided the 'souvenir' shopping experience many expect, bartering is a must.

This is our 5th time to the Grand and of course we will be back I just felt the standards had slipped somewhat and wasn't as memorably as other times
