“Amazing stay”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

Grand Hyatt Bali is a great place to stay for families, friends and anyone who wants to get out of their hectic life and simply wish to have a relaxing holiday. The beach/sea view is spectacular, the food is of reasonable price and the rooms are amazing. Unless you want to have some good and cheap massage, forget about going outside, you would love to put all the time you have to enjoy the views, surroundings, ambiance and facilities provided within the hotel. Nevertheless, I must comment the housekeeping service is slightly below standards as compared to other 5 stars hotels. I will definitely go back again.

We had just a one night stop here and were glad we chose this hotel. It is contained within a very large "secure" tourist compound that, I believe, holds other hotels and a very nice shopping and restaurant area.

As we have come to expect of the Hyatt chain, the hotel was nicely laid out and the room was a very good size. The staff were attentive and welcoming. My only moan is that I found the bed to be a little too hard for comfort, but then again I do like particularly soft beds.

The grounds too the hotel were absolutely beautiful, probably the best hotel gardens I have seen. The beach looked very welcoming too.

The Grand Hyatt Bali is situated amid splendid gardens with nice swimming pools near a beautiful beach and quit sea. However, as this is one of the oldest Grand Hyatts, the hotel is somewhat outdated and not up to international standards. Having said that, you are here for spending your time outside and not inside the hotel! Nice Italian restaurant (Salsa Verde) and we enjoyed the Adult Dinner Show (Indonesian and International Buffet) at the Pasar Sengol with Balinese dancers who performed the Ramayana Dance. Enjoyable stay.

Except for some hiccups with our check in, we had an awesome family vacation during our stay at grand hyatt bali. With fantastic sea view rooms and good dining options, this hotel has much to offer. We love the beach and the pool facilities. Special token of appreciation to Mr Christian Kranich, director of food and beverage, who insisted that the front desk assign us a sea view room which made our stay even more wonderful. I would recommend grand hyatt bali to families looking for a great time. Cheers Freddy Sim and family, Singapore.

Beautiful setting for the hotel with amazing pools located in the Nusa Dua area. The Grand Hyatt, unlike some of its neighbours, where the hotels are right on top of each other - Westin etc, has a great feeling of space around the hotel and its well maintained grounds. The beach is also very good, and great when the tide's out for exploring with kids. If you like going for a walk, it's perfect.

Rooms (we had a suite + connecting room) were clean and serviced to a good standard every day. When we told them they were coming too late one day, as it was clashing with when we wanted to put the kids to bed, they made sure they came at 10am every day thereafter. Good.

What was not so good? This is not a hotel if you want fine dining - there are 3 restaurants, and 2 of them are all day, and are pretty impersonal, although the service was always very good, and within a couple of days, they know our names, which is pretty impressive for such a large hotel. For dinner, you still feel like you're in the breakfast canteen, which is a shame. With the exception of the Indonesian BBQ, which is the same every day, and rather so-so, there's no event/destination dining, or more intimate dining options for couples. Room service was also accordingly average. If you're staying here for more than a few days, you will definitely get bored of the dining options. There's a Japanese restaurant, which also does tepanyaki, but the Westin is better. What they did, they did well, just pretty limited, but fortunately, there are plenty of other places to eat, if you don't mind a walk - we ate out of the hotel quite a lot for both lunch and dinner. If you want exceptionally fine dining, go to the Sunday brunch at the St. Regis (Kayaputi restaurant) - one of the finest brunches I have ever had (and I live in Asia).

The wine was mostly awful - pretty much every glass I ordered was corked, with some bottles, when I looked, marked as having been open 8 days! No attempt is made to preserve the wine, once a bottle has been opened, and the staff obviously don't get what the issue is, and just think you're being picky. Once I had to send back 3 different glasses in one meal. I raised this matter whilst I was at the hotel, and the F&B manager said he would address it going forward. Definitely not good, but easy to rectify. Otherwise, just insist on a fresh bottle each time.

Other minor niggle was that you had to pay to go into the Kids' Club. Yes, pay if you're leaving your kids there for the day (although some don't charge at all for this), but if you're just outside playing on the climbing frames etc, you have to keep restraining your kids from going inside, because they'll want to charge you. Possibly explains why it was empty most days we passed by.

Overall, we liked it a lot, mostly because we had 2 kids who loved the pools, and the hotel is stunning in its setting, but it is seriously let down by its dining options.

Hotel landscape is great. It's a huge resort with nice beach. A big plus, especially if you have kids.
Very near to Bali Collection, a shopping place. Convenient to walk there, just 5 min.
Room is spacious but lack on details: inside the exhaust grill above toilet is dusty (very thick), seemed never be vacuumed for ages. spider web on door corner, broken shower stand (upper stand).
Food is so-so. Spaghetti was good but Indonesian meals is poor. The gado-gado sauce is very little, like eating boiled vegetables only. Soto Ayam & Sup Buntut a bit tasteless.
On check-in, staff busy talking with colleague. They didn't greet us, WE greet them.
Overall, not really impressed with the service. Only location is good.
Stay at #3115.

This resort has great big private beach which my son loved. Usually Indian Sea is rough and when I stayed at Nikko Bali hotel last time, I could not swim in the sea due to rough waves. But the waves at the beach at Grand Hyatt Nusa dua was mild enough to swim. I heard that it is because there are corals islands in the sea about 200 meter far from the beach which reduce the strength of the waves. One more pros of GH Nusa dua is Bali Collection is just around the corner. You can walk there for shopping and eating. There are restaurants there which offer good food at much cheaper price than at resort.
All rooms have a big day bed which can be used for children's bed, so I could sleep well without my son's disturbance.
