Reviewed January 31, 2014

We always felt the warm and welcoming vibe the Balinese are known for.... The atmosphere was tropical and relaxing... Everything at the hotel was central with easy access... Any concerns were quick to resolve... The staff made our holiday a memorable one... Absolutely delightful!!!! We will be returning

My family (me, wife, 7yr old girl and 12 yr old boy) have just returned from a 7 night stay at the Melia Nusa Dua and had a lovely time at this resort.

We booked the trip late last year and after reading a couple of reviews regarding room issues I contacted trhe resort via email and made some enquiries. I recieved a prompt reply from the hotel manager Murdana who addressed all my questions.

On arrival at the resort Murdana came and introduced himself and gave us very nice introduction to the resort including some of its history before wishing us a great stay and providing his contact details if we had any issue's... we didnt have any.

We found the resort to be perfect for us, our room was a 2 level family room on the top floor of building 2 over looking the gardens and the lagoon access pools below. It was clean, cool and quite well away from the main pool but we found the walk to and from the pool & beach fine.

The resort one of the oldest in Nua Dua and of the more traditional Balines style which we loved. Most of our time was spent around the pool or beach with our kids taking advantage of the kids club and pool activities each day while mum and dad lazed the day away reading and swiming. Qudos to the pool activities crew and the kids club girls for the many and varied activites they provided for adults and children alike. I know the wife particularly enjoyed the daily water yoga and water arodics sessions each and my children would like to send out a thankyou to Agus, Chris from the pool and Mini from kids club.

The attention to detail in the resort was fantatsic with the grounds looking spectacular each day. A nice touch was the sand artwork redone each morning by the ground staff in the garden beds on the lower level of the accomodation buildings. The groundsman/artist would take request's and write what ever youi asked in the sand for a day... we made a request for the family name... melia holiday 2014 on the way to breakfast one morning and it was completed before we finished.

The food and chioce of restaurants suited us nicely and we only ate away form the resort once for lunch when we visited the Bali Collection shopping area nearby. Budgets and tastes seem well provided for from the 2 for 1 pizza options & set daily menu's at the Sateria Beach Restaurant (our favorite) and buffet diner options at the other restaurnats each night.

As stated already we had a lovely time on our 7 night stay from Jan 18 to Jan 25 this year and would be happy to reurn to the Melia Nusa Dua for another stay in the future. On checking out the resort manager Murdana once again made an effort to meet us personally and enquire as to how our stay went and then gave our 2 children a Melia branded Squirel pilllow pet for the flight home to Australia....

Thanks Melia, Murdana and your staff our stay was perfect.

Room Tip: We had family room 2423 in building 2. which was on the top floor of the accomodation block furthest...

The hotel was superb. Its location on the beach can't be bettered, the facilities (spa, pools. restaurants) are all excellent and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. However, be warned if you want to scuba dive. The hotel uses a company called PT. Ciwa Sempurna Dive and Water Sport (Nusa Dua). Of the 114 dives I've logged, this was by far the worst. There was:
1. no pre dive safety briefings
2. no chance to check and assemble ones own dive equipment (it was literally given to me already assembled in the water at the dive site!)
3. no dive master who speaks English to communicate effectively with the divers
4. no clarification of any safety procedures before the dive, including allocation of buddy pairs, etc.
In fact half way through the dive I was abandoned by the DM who had surfaced with two struggling divers but hadn't through to let me know!

So if you're going to the hotel to do anything other than dive, its paradise. But if you're diving, beware!

Room Tip: We stayed in the lagoon frontage rooms which were magical as the room opens onto its own pool. Just...

Warmest greetings from Melia Bali!

Dear PuffingPanda,

We are so glad to hear you really enjoyed our location, facilities (spa, pools. restaurants) and our friendly and helpful staffs. We are glad to hear that one of our main our main objectives was achieved.

We are deeply apologetic for the difficulties you encountered during your diving session with our tenant that did not follow the proper procedures that we agreed on. We had strongly warned the company to follow the proper procedures you had mentioned. Please, reach out to me on your return stay for a safe diving.

Thanks for reviewing us and we hope to see you again soon!

Best regards,

After 6 trips to Bali in luxury resorts. This was very, disappointing. Junior suite, very, very tired. Extremely slow service even on Bali standards. Got food poisoning from room service dinner. Never again

Warmest greetings from Melia Bali!

Dear corsakay,

Thank you for your feedback. I am happy to hear that the Melia Bali hotel was a perfect family holiday destination for your trip. You are right that many screaming kids is not a problem here in Melia Bali. We have our "hotel within the hotel" called the Level services that is a "kids free zone."

If you have additional feedback regarding your stay, please feel free to reach out to me to further discuss.

Best regards,

We recently spent 12 nights in the Melia Bali hotel in Nusa Dua Bali. We booked our room through booking.com and were skeptical about the quality of the hotel we were going to get. On
arrival we were very pleased, and although we had a room which was quite a walk from reception, and a little "dark", it did make for a much cooler room and the room was closer to the pool and beach which, in Dec/Jan humidity and heat, is where you want to be. The room was clean and well maintained and the staff very friendly and helpful. There was a kettle, tea & coffee supplies and a bar fridge. There was also a hair dryer, and this is always useful for travellers to know so that you don't have to pack your own dryer. The bed was big and extremely comfortable. There is however no "separate" shower, with the shower head in the bath tub, but it was clean and worked properly, so no complaints. I would rate the room a 8/10, as this was the only negative.
They do have "lagoon access" pools which are obviously more expensive, but they are lovely and in the heat it would have been great to have our own "private lagoon" to swim in, especially in the evenings when the main pool closes at 7pm. Might have been worth the higher price ??

The Hotel itself is an oldie but a goodie and the "attention to detail" in the decor is outstanding. The gardens are beautifully maintained, as is the pool area. The breakfast buffet is plentiful and has an excellent variety to cater for all tastes. The "pool side" service can be a little slow but the staff are very polite and eager to please.
Melia Bali is on one of the best swimming beaches in Bali and the "coastline" is scattered with different hotels with their "loungers" and deck chairs on display, making for a very tropical and relaxed vibe.
We found the drinks at the hotel expensive, considering we are paying with the rand, but the food on the menu is slightly pricey but very good.
All in all a very happy stay and would definitely go back.
Thanks
Colleen Visser

Room Tip: Lagoon access pools are lovely, but can be hot! Garden facing and high up are the best and coolest.
