“Excellent place to stay”
Reviewed August 23, 2011

We've stayed in Nusa Dua before ans this is one of many hotels in this secure enclave.
The entrance is magnificant and you need to find time to explore its surroundings.Staff are very friendly and genuinely welcoming.Your arrival is hailed by a bang on the gong in the foyer.Recetion staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a good standard and had the most comfortable bed with flo pillows you wanted to take back home. The room was well catered for and bottled water and coffee etc was replenished daily at no extra cost.A room safe was provided for valuables and was roomy enough for a handbag or two.Our room was in a non- smoking block.Like most hotels these days you were given an option to change linen daily if you so desired or not if you chose to be "green".Towels were changed daily. The breakfast provided was of a high standard and gave a great choice of menu. But if you didnt plan your timing well (before 8.45am) you had to join the mass of families and others jostling for tables.on some mornings a lay-in was preferred to the "mad rush" followed by brunch!
Situated in the midst of hotels ours was a commfortable 10 minute stroll to the Bali Collection a collection of shops and reteraunts open early til late at night.Everything was available including spas and massages!
The facilities in the resort were excellent including the pool.Although it was dominated by youngsters. The beach was a little disappointing especially when the tide went out.
The boardwalk, which stretched for miles provided useful exercise.
Watch out for the cost of drinks at the hotel bar.I was shocked to pay nearly 10 Aus Dollars for a bottle of Bingtang! We thoroughly recommend the Melia.A classy place to make you feel special on holiday.

Our stay lasted four nights and this mid-sized resort with direct access to the beach proved to be very nice. Imaculate gardens surrounded the pools and restaurant areas. The "deluxe garden" room was confortable and with enough space for the extra bed. The breakfast tried to match the tastes of different customers, from european to japanese, and was quite good. The private beach area had plenty of sunbeds under the shades of coconut trees. Nice location in the Nusa Dua area, since it allowed to walk to the Bali Collection mall, where the restaurants where much cheaper than those at the resort. Also many restaurants in the area would pick you up at the hotel, like the Kendi Kuning which I reommend as Indonesian speciality.

I just got back from a trip to Bali. we stayed in Seminyak for the first week and stayed at Nusa Dua Melia for the last 2 nights. From Check-in I was not impressed. don't get me wring the resort is beautiful but it if FULL of rude european people. We were literally the only Australains there. Now I don't have anything against europeans but I appreciate people saying hello and being polite, there was non of this people are so rude, and the staff didn't have the time of day for us , and could barely speak european. The food is ridiculously overpriced, we ordered a large bintang and a orange juice and paid the equivilant to around $16 AUD.
I'd reccomend maybe the Novotel or Nusa Dua Hotel over the Melia.

Warmest greetings from Meliã Bali!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for choosing Meliã Bali and taking the time to review your stay on TripAdvisor.

We would like to thank you for staying with us and also sharing your experience on the tripadvisor.com

The Melia Bali has total of 494 rooms accommodation with different room categories, with different guests' nationalities. As of today, our Australian market is around 6.2% of the hotel capacity. Therefore, you are not the only Australian guests in-house.

There many of our repeat customers are coming from different part of Australia.
Since the distance is not so far, compared to the European countries.

Our food and beverage prices are not as expensive as many guests thought.
We also have prepared many interesting special offers, discount rate and other food and beverage promotion for our in-house guests. One of our guests realized that finally it is cheaper to have lunch/dinner at the hotel.

Once again thank you for reviewing our hotel and we look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to Bali.

My partner and I have just arrived home from our stay at Melia. We stayed at 3 different hotels and we both agreed that Melia was the standout of the 3 by far.
The check-in process was simple, easy and quick. We were given welcome drinks upon arrival and were able to enjoy these in the beautiful open lobby area whilst we waited for our paperwork to be organised. We were given an upgrade from a Superior Room to a Junior Suite.
The room was beautiful. We had a lounge area downstairs, with a toilet and the bedroom and bathroom upstairs. The rooms were very spacious and accomodated our needs perfectly. I would agree with a few other reviews in regards to the humidity smell in the rooms but honestly, it was barely noticable. You'd really have to be a huge critic to let the slight smell influence your opinion of the resort.
There are 4 buildings of rooms within the Melia and we were in building 4. I have read some people complaining in regards to the distance of the breakfast area to building 4. I'll put it into perspective for you... Melia is a massive resort that is spread over a considerable amount of land. The beach and pool are on one end and the lobby and breakfast area are on the other. To walk from one end to the other takes about 2-3 minutes. We were in building 4 and it was not a problem for us. Breakfast was yummy and there was a huge variety to pick from.
The grounds were brillant and the up-keep was fantastic. There are staff walking around everywhere and each one of them made an effort to say hello, with a big smile on their face!
Melia is located alongside many other resorts and we always felt safe when walking around day or night. Literally right next door was Bali Collection; a great place for various resturants and entertainment. Kuta/Legian/Seminyak was around a 30 minute drive away. Nusa Dua is a completely different area to Kuta/Legian/Seminyak. It's much quieter, less shopping... it's perfect for a few days of relaxation and sitting by the beach.
All in all, we loved it. A big thank you to all the staff at Melia that made our stay as wonderful as possible!

stayed here for 5 days, and first impressions were good, nice welcome drink and cool towel... we had a family room with us upstairs and girls downstairs, just a shame the whole room was open as our girls go to bed before us...also the upstairs part of the room due to lack of natural light always seemed damp and musty... however the pool was lovely and everyday offered stretching/ water robics etc! so good fun...
the themed buffets seem a nice idea but husband ate something that resulted in very bad tummy so had to get antibiotics....... also found the overall food and drinks very expensive....
however to end the trip was an ok place to stay

Dear ams 2900,

Greetings from Meliã Bali!

Thank you for choosing Meliã Bali and taking the time to review your stay on TripAdvisor.

As mentioned on the other responds, the hotel has a wide range of room categories for the guest to choose depends on their occasion, beside the family rooms we also have the family suites that would be more suitable to accommodate your family holiday with your girls.

Most of the guests think that the food and beverage price of the hotel is very expensive compare to other properties. The fact, especially for guests with family , we have designed many "package options" for our in house guests to enjoy our culinary delights. The theme buffet dinners, the discount, the romantic dinner, etc. Some of our guests who had enjoyed these packages commented that at the end, having dinner in the hotel still cheaper than restaurants outside, with better quality and quantity also the service.

We are delighted to read that you had an enjoyable stay with us. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Wanted to recharge and stayed for 3 nights at the Melia. Staff on arrival was friendly and reception area was very welcoming with a welcome drink and cold face towel being provided at check in. Room was a good size, well maintained and clean with fresh pineapple on arrival. As a Melia tradition, the buffet breakfast was sumptuous and beats the other Melia hotels in Europe. I stayed on the beach most times and the waiters made a difference offering to get your food and drinks It was a tropical paradise with the best beach in Nusa Dua. The nightly themes for dinner made a difference and their bar on the beach is superb. I have a late flight and was surprised to find a free departure lounge where you can relax instead of leaving straight away. I highly recommend the Melia Bali.

Room Tip: Ask for a non-smoking room if you are fussy
