We booked our room for our Bali holiday via the Starwoods website and had the offer of a 25% discount for 5 nights. The hotel had already given me an excellent impression right from the start through email correspondence as I enquired about various services and Bali info.

We arrived in anticipation and was welcomed with warm reception even though it was past ten in the evening. One butler, Pinto, saw to our check-in, brought us to our room and patiently showed us the facilities. Having mentioned earlier that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, they did something special for us by surprising us with a delicious anniversary cake.

I was amazed at the comprehensive set of bathroom amenities available, the big bathroom and bathtub. The view from our room overlooking the garden was great both in the day and at night.

The beach front was clean and beautiful too. We had a nice walk along the entire stretch one evening and rested on the deck chairs to watch the stars in the clear night sky.

Thumbs-up also for the butler service and their thoughfulness. Having been sick throughout the trip, I need lots of water to soothe my dry throat and after requesting for 2 more bottles of water on the second day, the room service automatically replenished 4 bottles of water each day during the daily cleaning, all complimentary. And when a single box of tissue was used up within one day (due to my runny nose), I was provided with 2 boxes the following day! Thanks for attending to our requests no matter what time it was.

Location-wise, it was a distance away from the main shopping and tourist place, but it was a reasonable trade-off for the peace and relaxation. The nearest shopping area, Bali Collection, is still within walking distance, about 10 min slow walk. A free shuttle serves the hotel (to and fro), every 10 min past the hour (note that 12.10 to 1.10pm is rest time for the driver).

Free wireless access is available at the main lobby where my hubby checks his emails each evening. Access from the room will however be chargrable.

Our last day was intentionally spent at the hotel as we lazed in the comfortable bed, swam at one of the many pools and enjoyed complimentary afternoon tea, relaxed in the arms of mother nature.

Overall, we had a very satisfying stay at the hotel as we return home recharged for the year ahead! Thanks Laguna, we hope to be back! =)

We've been to Bali many times and have carefully compared different luxury resorts in different areas. While Seminyak is trendy these days for restaurants, you wouldn't want to stay there on the dirty beaches. Jimbaran is nice but isolated.
Nusa Dua has a string of luxury resorts you can walk past on the beach boardwalk, and we scrutinised them all.
The honest truth is that The Laguna (formerly Sheraton Laguna) is the clear winner. The layout is beautiful, with dreamy daybeds set under palm trees overloooking the pretty, white sandy beach.
The lagoon rooms are truly outstanding, with your own balcony descending down wooden steps into a big freeform lagoon that makes you feel like you're on a remote island.
The main pool and Ocean Terrace restaurant on the beach are also outstanding, and the food quality and price very good compared with the grimy surroundings of Kuta, Legian and Seminyak.
As for the other Nusa Dua luxury hotels, the Aston is on one side and the Melia is on the other side, while the new St Regis is further up, as is the Conrad.
We saw them all and make no mistake, The Laguna has a better luxury layout and feel than all of them, on a beautiful beach.
The staff at The Laguna were the most beautiful we have encountered anywhere in the world in our travels. They anticipate everything and the smiles are so genuine and gentle. We can learn a lot from these gentle people who have spiritual riches that far surpass material riches. They are so happy.
The rooms are certainly five star and very spacious, with large bathrooms as well. This was such a happy holiday thanks to our choice of The Laguna.
Thanks to Mark and Sugeng for you kindness and we look forward to returning one day.

This is a beautiful property right on the beach, with enough swimming pool area to hold a major city. Service was impeccable, with an on-call, 24/7 butler service, hot coffee and tea delivered whenever, etc., etc. The beach was nicely furnished with chairs, tables, etc., but the sea water was full of trash--with no one apparently trying to clean it. Food (except breakfast, which is good) was mediocre and grossly overpriced.

We would recommend the property itself, but if one wants to indulge in Balinese culture, stay in another area, not Nusa Dua--which was designed to avoid this aspect of the island.

The Laguna Hotel made our trip from being really good to absolutely excellent.
The service, food, (Sweets to die for) charming staff ever willing to help and great weather made our trip memorable. Laguna have raised the bar for other 5* holels to reach.

A visually beautiful hotel with stunning gardens and pools. The beach was groomed every day! Great location in Nusa Dua where we felt extremely safe. The security was excellent. A 5 minute walk to the Bali Collection where there was a supermarket ( for bintangs and basic supplies) several shops and restaurants. We didn't eat there but there was always a steady stream of guests heading down there.
The staff at the hotel were fantastic incredibly friendly, gracious and helpful. The Butler service every morning was fantastic. We ate at the Ocean Terrace several times & the food, staff and location were 1st class.(excellent value)
My only negative comment would be that the rooms are starting to look a little tired. The carpet a little worn & the chairs & wallpaper a little shabby.
This certainly did not impact on our stay at the hotel which was made all the more enjoyable by the beautiful Balinese staff.
