Upon arrival we were greeted by the GM Mark who happened to pass through the lobby as we checked in. The friendly duty manager showed us to our corner room and after explaining the hotel facilities to us we were on our way to very relaxing holiday. My wife and I stayed there during X-mas and New Year enjoyed the property and facilities very much. The fact that the hotel only has about 300 rooms, where most other hotels around nusa dusa have between 400-700 rooms, gives it a more intimate atmosphere. Even though the hotel is not new and the rooms do show some “patina”, it fully qualifies to be part of the luxury collection group.
We managed to try a few other restaurants at the Westin and the Melia Hotel, but nothing compared to the Arwana restaurant at the Hotel. The A'la carte menu is great, the wine selection reasonable, yet pricy and our waiter Suardika who served us most nights only made the experience more enjoyable.
All in all a great escape from the busy life we live. We’ll be back.

We stay at this hotel a few times a year and it is delightful. The staff greet us with "welcome home"each time we arrive and are so very helpful and polite. The hotel grounds are some of the best in Bali and maintained to the highest level...no weeds here !!! I would recommend this hotel to families as it has a very relaxed atmosphere, again the staff are wonderful, true Balinese hospitality, whereas I have found that some other big names close by have lost this delightful ambiance that is truly Bali at its best.

The Laguna hotel, especially the Laguna access rooms are great. Stayed there with the wife & kids for 5 days in December. We had taken 2 connecting rooms. Access to the Laguna pool directly from our rooms was a major seller. Large rooms with spacious toilets. Butler service isn't really useful but it's there. Very peaceful & calm. Only one thing wasn't as expected, I thought the hotel was a lot newer than it actually is. One can tell that the rooms aren't new, although they aren't bad in any way, just has a little old feel to it.

The beach, just awesome! Apparently one of the best of all the beaches in Bali. Very clear waters & white sands. Very swimable. We took a glass bottom boat ride & went snorkelling,

Food was also great at the hotel. We tried fish & chips, maki rolls, spaghetti & Satays at different times by the beach & the pool side. All were very good & not overly priced.

The spa was just wonderful! The Balinese massage exceeded my expectations.

Will definitely go back, although I hope they renovate the rooms before I do.

Room Tip: Unless you are going for a private villa, the best rooms are the laguna access rooms.

The resort is great the pools superb and the gardens are v well maintained and all the staff are very friendly and greet all guests as they go about their duties.
The bed was fabulous! one of the best hotel beds i have ever slept on.
I have just complaints- firstly the "butlers" are not actually butlers and more a glorified porter/ waiter/ general hotel staff. English was poor, communication v difficult and they were not able to suggest much. We basically told them exactly where to book us when and even that they often didnt understand/get it right. Traffic in Bali is really bad, and despite them making a restaurant reservation for us and booking us a cab, they failed to mention the traffic and we arrived at the reservation 2 hours late to a closed restaurant... a little initiative is welcome!!
Second issue i had is the drinks at the resort as well as the in-house restaurants are REALLY expensive even tho it is Nusa and neighboring hotels are cheaper..

Aside from these 2 bug bears, nice relaxing stay.

Dear Leighdermick,

Warmest wishes from The Laguna Resort & Spa!

Thank you for posting your review on Tripadvisor and we apologize for any inconvenience that you experienced along your stay.

We regret that the service of our butlers has not lived up to your expectation and we have also noted your comments in regards to the English proficiency and will use your feedback in our ongoing training program for their improvement.

It concerned me that our staff has failed to inform you in regards to the congestion on our streets due to several road constructions and we do apologize for the significant delay on your trip to the restaurant. We have always encouraged our staff to take initiative to proactively communicate with our guests and we regret that they failed to do so in this instance.

We are thankful to your constructive feedback regarding the pricing of our beverage. We have noted this concern and will look further if we can make improvement on some pricing aspect to meet the needs of our guests. Nevertheless, please be advised that we display net price for our food and beverage. It means that the price has included 21% of government tax and service charge which is not the case of most other establishments.

Once again, thank you for your constructive feedback and we do hope that your less than perfect experience will not prevent you from coming back to our Resort in the near future.

Sincerely yours,

This was booked as a place for my wife and I to have some fun with the rest of our trip being focused on our kids, 2 and 1. However, it ended up being a great place for the entire family despite the fact that there is no kids club or kid focused play area. The key here is the numerous swimming pools that allow for kids to play in different ways and be entertained without the standard resort kids club. If you are one that needs a kids club, then I would recommend the Westin next door. However, understand that the Westin is a large hotel that has that feeling that comes with a massive amount of people.

Here, if your kids enjoy water, you can relax in a smaller number of people that avoids the headaches of resorts that focus on kids. There are so many pools that it never feels crowded in any one pool. There is a very shallow kids pool that works well for young ones since it is maybe a foot deep at most. There are stone turtles around this pool and some shoot water, making it more fun for little ones. There is also a larger pool that works for swimming and has more of these turtles. There are also lagoons right outside rooms and a larger pool area that has a sandy beach style setup inside the resort. Bottom line is that if you enjoy the pool, this works.

The food was good with our focus being the good breakfast buffet and then using the deli for take away food in the evening. The deli food was reasonably priced and avoided the need for fancy dining. The wife enjoyed the spa as one of her better treatments and there is also an option to get a massage in outdoors in one of the many cabanas that are available.

The rooms are a bit dated in their decor, but that was not an issue for us given the potential damage that young kids can inflict. What was nice was the size of the room, which was enough to allow the kids to run around inside and play with their toys when the pool time was over.

There are many options in Bali when it comes to accommodation, but this one worked for young kids given the amount of water activities and the size of the rooms. Also a plus for security concerned parents is the fact that the resort is gated with security access.

Room Tip: Go for the larger rooms that are not the stand alone villas if you have young kids. The stand alone...

Between Christmas and New Year's, we stayed at The Laguna (one bedroom villa). It was so peaceful and beautiful. My husband and son enjoyed the private pool. I enjoyed watching them laying on the cabana, as unfortunately I came down ill just as we were leaving on this vacation. Knowing that I was ill, the manager of the villas sent me a bouquet of flowers. The chef/waiter in the Banyubiru restaurant were more than accommodating to me, trying to make sure there was always something available that I would be able to easily digest. The food there was quite good. I suggest booking your driver and tour guide through the hotel, as this made things so easy on us (especially when dealing with baggage/customs/visas at the crowded airport). If we go back to Bali, would we stay there again? You bet! Side note: next door is The Westin and they had a yummy Japanese hibachi restaurant.
