This restaurant is part of the hotel we are staying in (royal santrian) which will be subject of a separate review
The restaurant as the rest of the property is stunning, well designed and really romantic (possibly a reason while it is such a popular wedding venue)
the restaurant has an indoor and outdoor dining area and a japanese sushi bar, however menus are interchangeable and most hotel patrons if eating onsite use roomservice which makes the restaurant look rather deserted on most evenings (little chance of non residents hopping in as the restaurant does not advertise on the street)
the food is ok to very good and nicely presented, however the staff lacks training in customer interaction rather than service - the service as such is ok and friendly they are just not assertive enough, ensuring you have everything or if you want something else - I think the goal is to be unobtrusive however people need to make sure customers have and get what they want otherwise you loose out business....
We had food from the japanese corner,
A californian maki roll on the house which as very good (we are both not sushi lovers but give that an 8/10)
A seaweed salad with octopus (i though it was grilled - but it was not my fault 5/10) and prawns in lime as starter 8/10 then a wagyu teppan which was near perfect 9/10 and a mixed teppan which was good to 7/10, deserts where unremarkable 5/10
We had a local (Hatten) rose which ensured that this would be our only attempt at balinese wine 2/10 and good coffes to finish
To sum up good well presented food in a great but unfortunately not well attended setting let down by slightly disorganized at the higher end of the local prize range
