“Perfect Place-Perfect Service!-Perfect staff!”
Reviewed January 11, 2010

We have been there for 5 nites in august at the end of a Bali-Tour for about two and a half weeks. The first step was The Laguna Nusa Dua and then The Chedi Club in Ubud.....so we have been on "a level"...
Finally, it was a great time at the St. Regis. The headline says all: really nice and perfect staff, perfect service round the clock.

The St. Regis did the transfer between The Chedi Club and the hotel : perfect and on time!

We had a suite (not a villa), it was spacious and equipped with all needs. The Best: the large chairs on the balcony! Hats and Beachbags are standards, Butlerservice too.

Everything at the St. Regis is large: the lobby, the whole area, the rooms, the ways...... and THE BREAKFAST!! This is a kind of (breakfastwonderland?) there are no words: everything including Lobster, Wagyu Beef etc. !
The beach area and the lagoon area invites you for swimming and relaxing, every place is quite and clean too (as excepted). The Beachbutlers are fast and friendly.

The managers were always available at the lobby area for smalltalks and "helpless guests" :-) A real Plus, you do not need to call and wait.
We were waiting for the shuttle bus to the Bali-Mall and as they realised, that the bus is fully occupied before stopping by they invited us to take the hotel-limousine without complications.

On the other side: we have been the only one guests at the bar and the hotelrestaurant at nites. This was the only "bad" thing and we went out.

This is a great hotel at one of the most beautiful places on the planet, but if you are looking for a real balinese feeling and surroundings you should check other places too and combine!

The St. Regis Bali, which we stayed in soon after opening, was unfortunately quite a disappointment and low value for money relative to other St. Regis hotels, and especially other Bali hotels. Probably the worst part about it was the service. For example, we were given a spa gift certificate by a relative for our wedding and rather than giving it to us at the beginning of our stay, they forgot to give it to us until the night before we were checking out. Their VIP assistance did not work either, with no one coming to pick us up at the airport or follow up to see what had happened. When we asked them to make sure that we were provided with the service on the way back to the airport, they incorrectly told us that we did not pay for that. Once we showed them our receipt and accompanying contract saying otherwise, they quickly set up the VIP assistance, but never even bothered to apologize for the mistake. The staff to guest ratio seemed high, but yet, no one recognized us though we stayed for a while. Very different from other luxury hotels in Bali, where people not only know you by name, but are always friendly and ready to help.

The rooms are uninspiring-- pretty modern, but non-Balinese feel. You could really be anywhere else in the world. I stayed at six different hotels in Bali during this trip including Le Jardin, Chedi Club, Puri Wulandari, the Four Seasons Sayan and Jimbaran, Hotel Conrad Nusa Dua. By far, even though St. Regis was the most expensive and newest, it was the most disappointing. Would highly recommend staying at a more exclusive and interesting hotel even if you like the St. Regis brand.

Dear Hoteltripping,

Thank you for your valuable feedback and for taking the time to post comments of your experience whilst residing with us.

We at St. Regis understand the importance of fulfilling our guests expectations and it concerns me greatly that you have departed our shores with a negative impression.

I have taken note of the points you highlighted and I understand that our Hotel Manager had communicated with you in regards to the booked and then cancelled Spa gift certificate and the arrival assistance.

In regards to the cold and none Balinese feeling, we actually get very good comments about our modern suites and villa design which are enriched with traditional carvings behind the beds and sofas beside other Balinese artwork. We are sorry if it was not according to your taste.

Usually we also get good comments about our associates and their response to requests and I am sad to hear that they have not lifted up to your expectation. We will use your comments during upcoming associate trainings in an effort to improve our service standards.

Hoteltripping, I am very sad that these incidents marred your stay and I do apologize truly for these shortfalls.

In closing I would like to thank you for choosing The St. Regis Bali Resort. I hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to our resort on your next visit to this paradise island.

Sincerely yours,
Frank Beck

From the Mercedes sedan waiting for us upon arrival, until we returned to the airport a week later, this trip just kept exceeding our expectations.
When you arrive at the airport, the hotel greeter escorts you to a private waiting room, where you are provided cool towels, beverage and truffles, while he takes care of your customs entry paperwork. Into the new Mercedes sedan, off to the St. Regis for an experience you will never forget!!
We stayed at the Strand Villa. – and what a beautifully decorated and comfortable villa it was! The decorations, all exquisite and well put together. The color scheme lovely! From the moment you step foot inside, you wish you owned a place like this! It is just the right size for a couple. We brought our 4 year old daughter with us and they had an extra bed made up in our bedroom. It was not just a typical hotel roll away bed, more like a twin mattress on a bed frame. The bedding and towels all top of the line.
When you leave the villa and step out onto your back patio, a nice private pool awaits you with your own Bale Bengong (an Indonesian style gazebo). If you want to walk to the salt water pool or swim in the ocean, just step outside the gate in your back yard and you’re on the beach. The outdoor shower is nice after returning from your walk.
The St. Regis private butler service is wonderful. If you need anything, you just ask your butler. The staff are all wonderful and very attentive. You can tell they have been very well trained. Our villa was serviced several times a day, it seemed like we always had fresh towels.
The salt water lagoon pool was fabulous.. Just deep enough so an adult can touch the bottom, it wraps around the resort so you can check out different sections of the pool and resort without having to leave the water. One section had a sand bottom leading into the lagoon pool, I think that might have been for kids, but nobody was using it. While the lagoon pool is salt water, the villa pools are chlorinated. The pools are serviced very early in the morning so as not to disturb you during the day.
The food was the best we’ve had while being on vacation. Breakfast, well, I admit to being a tourist, snapping pictures of the entrees. You can select from the buffet, but also order a la carte from the menu. Try the eggs foie gras (only have when supplier stock is at its best, otherwise they won’t offer), or wagyu beef and eggs.. it comes sizzling to the table in a small skillet. Or French toast croissants, mmmm, I’m getting hungry just thinking back on the fabulous menu.. and freshly squeezed juices of course.
The dinner buffet was good too, we ate there several times. The rest of the time we took our meals in our villa as we were perfectly content to stay inside and not have to get ready to go to dinner.
Husband played golf next door at the Bali Golf and Country Club. Would recommend if you are a golfer. Ask for Bruce Jellard the General Manager, and tell him hello from Kent and Diane.
It was a perfectly relaxing vacation in our most favorite vacation spot in Asia.. The ST. Regis Bali does not miss a thing and works hard at making your visit a lasting memory.
After returning to Shanghai, our daughter asked when we were going back to our “home”.. Soon enough I hope!
Frank Beck, General Manager, Stefan Friedl, Director of Sales and Marketing, Jeff Ross, Hotel Manager and “Geoffrey” our private butler.. Thank you, Thank You for a truly memorable vacation.

Firstly, I need to say this; I love Bali- I travel there several times each year. I do worry about the ever expanding growth in need for Newer, Grander(?) Hotels.... here's the however- I love giving over to the occasional self indulgence that these Hotels provide, particularly in the restaurants and Spa centre facilites. Having been in Bali last January 2009, I had reason to find the St Regis for a special dinner that was to be planned as a surprise evening. Let me say that the dinner in Kayuputi (the main restaurant) was perfect, yes expensive but worth every RP (USD) spent. So on this visit in July/August 2009, I made a booking immediately to dine once again in a Bale at Kayuputi. In fact ,the other restaurant Boneka, was just as amazing- albeit we only dined at Breakfast time! So lash out, worry about the Credit card later (Ouch I did!); order a bottle of Champagne at Kayuputi- let the restaurant organise the menu- we just gave over to the Chef and said amaze us. He did. before I forget, ask the Sommelier to make you a Sake Belini it's my new favourite drink. Exceptional experience all round- more about the Hotel next review as i am back in Bali next week- worth every week of hard work back at home to afford to be able to stay and play at St Regis.

My husband and I stayed 5 nights at the St. Regis Bali during December. It's a long way from home (we're from L.A.) but it's worth the flight. We had very high expectations of the St. Regis...this was our first stay at a St.Regis--we always prefer the Four Seasons but since the St. Regis Bali is much newer and had much better rates than the F.S. we decided to stay at the St. Regis. Here are what we liked and disliked:

1. The accomodations. We stayed at a pool suite. I guess I didn't understand the different room options when we booked our reservation because I expected our pool to face the swimming pool, but it did not. If you book a pool suite, it will be attached to the main building and your pool will be beautiful but perhaps a little cold. The pools do not get much sunlight because of the shadow of the main building. Due to it being a little cold, we didn't really use our pool. We just used the main pool. It would have saved us a lot of money if we would of just booked an ocean view room. If you want your pool to face a pool (which I think they call "lagoon") you need to book a villa. They are amazing looking. I would recommend ibooking a villa f you can afford it. It would definately give you a more "Wow" feeling.

2. Food. We had very high expectations, especially for breakfast, since every review was raving about the food here. I guess my husband and I aren't really into asian cuisine because, while the food was good, it was defintely not the best we've ever had. The Four Seasons Costa Rica or Punta Mita by far have better breakfast, lunch, or dinner options. The food selection is rather limiting, especially because if you are going to stay 5 days or more you start getting tired of the same food. I agree with the people who said the food was pricey. We understand that we will pay more than usual at a 5 star hotel, but it was a little excessively high for what we got. Example: the Christmas dinner which basically just offered turkey, ham, roast beef, and all the sides was $150 per person.

3. Pool/Beach. Amazing. Few hotels have pools as beautiful as this. The beach surprised us as well. It was beautiful, temperature was perfect and very clean. Beware: do not think that this hotel is off by itself, isolated....the hotel is surronded by other hotels. Kind of like Cabo but without the desert look. So, you will see or have other people swimming around because it's a public beach. It was usually empty, though, especially during the week. The pool staff was great...always at your service. One thing, though, only order what is on the menu because when you try to customize something they don't get it right...they speak English but sometimes don't really understand what you want. For example: we asked for nachos, but with beef. The nachos are on the room service menu and they did it perfectly the first time, but the second time we asked for them, they brought us raw beef! We tried to explain the problem but they didn't get it, which didn't make sense because they brought it right the first day. Anyhow, just be specific in what or how you want things. They will try to give you everything you want.

4. Spa. Very good. Beautiful setting, beautiful room where we got the treatments done. Normal price for a spa at a resort of this type.

Overall, the hotel is what you expect of a St. Regis. It's new, very clean, accommodating, etc. If you want to relax, do nothing, and be in beautiful surroundings (and don't mind flying a long ways if you're from the U.S.) then this is a perfect spot! Oh, and they offer great Cable T.V....we had tons of channels from our cable back home....they also allowed us to check out at a very late time due to our late 2 a.m. flight. We were allowed to check out until 8 p.m. very nice of them to do that. One last thing....we were a little disappointed when we weren't upgraded. We've been automatically upgraded at F.S. to ocean front villas and we felt like the St. Regis could have done that since the hotel was obviously not full.... why not make a customer always remember how you upgraded them? Anyhow, the place was great...could learn a few things from F.S. but overall, it's a 5 star resort.

I had the pleasure of spending 10 magnificent nights at this most luxurious hotel. Every experience was nothing less than sublime. I was particularly impressed by the outstanding service - attention to detail is just a given here. My only regret was having to leave!

We had the pleasure of staying at St Regis Bali this year, celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary with our 2 children. We were treated like royalty during our stay with staff getting to know us and our children by name and always friendly and helpful. Our room was superb and the facilities in the resort were outstanding. We frequently used the restaurants, pools, bars, gym and cafe and all were very satisfying. We had a memorable night at Kayaputi fine dining restaurant that we will never forget! I would happily return to St Regis Bali for another memorable holiday
