“Excellent Hotel”
Reviewed October 21, 2009

We stayed at Adi Dharma Hotel for 8 nights and it was great. The grounds of the hotel were very nice, pool was always clean and the water temp was okay, a bit warm but that is what you expect. The room was very nice and clean, bathroom was a little out dated but still clean. Breakfast was good, egg station and everything you would expect in Bali.
Staff were always willing to help and very friendly.
The hotel is set back from the main traffic area which made it very quiet but easy access through cottages which made it easy to navigate your way around.
Will defiantly stay there again and would recommend anyone looking for reasonably priced accomodation check out the Adi Dharma Hotel

Me and my husband went to Bali and booked 2 different hotels; one was Aria Villas and the other one was Adi Dharma Cottage (we could not afford to spend the whole 10 days in the Villa, so decided to book 4 days in a cheaper hotel).

When we arrived at Adi Dharma COTTAGE the recepcionist was very friendly; we were given a standar cottage - as this is the only cottage type available in the hotel - and were not very happy with our acommodation. So we decided to "upgrade" to a Superior Deluxe room in Adi Dharma HOTEL (there are 2 'Adi Dharmas", one close to another, one only with standard cottages and the other one with standard, superior and deluxe apartments).

The staff in Adi Dharma Hotel was friendly, as almost everyone else in Bali LOL, and the room was nice at first...but the bathroom was a NIGHTMARE.

On our first night at the "Deluxe" room we have complained to the desk that our bathroom was smelling terribly, like sewage...and that the toilet was clogged. Maintenance came to the room and apparentely resolved the clog issue...but on the day after, it was clogged again (we haven't even used it!). And the smell was still terrible...

We have asked once again to check our bathroom. When we came back after a day of beach activities, we just wanted a decent bath...the smell was apparently gone, but when we turned on the shower...waster was BLACK, full of something that looked like sand and little worms...when trying to use the sink, dark and smelly water would come out from the bathtub...we have complained again, and this was 'solved' on the next day...

One more day, and the water wasn't dark anymore, but the smell would continue...we finally decided to go to another hotel, back to Aria Villa...

I also did not like the location of the hotel very much. It might be OK for surfers and people looking for some action, but I didn't like the Legian area too much...if it was closer to Kuta Sqaure it would be better....

The Adi Dharma Cottage Restaurant was good, and the breaksfeast in both - Hotel and Cottage - was also nice...

Once again, I must say that the staff was very friendly and seemed to want tohelp us, but they were not able to solve the bathroom problems for good...so we really had to move.

We stayed for 3 nights in this hotel. The staffs there are friendly and their service are great! The room and bathroom we had are quite clean but I think the hotel should refurbish it. Unfortunately, no facility for us to make coffee or tea as there is no kettle provided in the room. Which we find it not so convenient for young children.
The location was good as it was at the heart of Kuta and close to a lot of shops and restaurants around Jalan Legian.
The access to the beach is quite far as we did not aware there is a quick access to the beach by walking through Adi Dharma Cottage.
They are building a swim up bar during our stay. I will recommend to my friends if they want a basic hotel which are value for money.

Just a basic hotel. It looks better on internet than it is. Far from the beach but close to nightlife & shops, so depends on what you want. We rented a motorbike at a shop nearby the hotel to move around within the town, only cost Rp50,000 a day, very convenient.

The family room is big with 1 queen and 2 super single beds but looks a bit old, especially in the toilet/bathroom. No kettle provided in the family room, so it was inconvenient for us as we brought baby along. Think the management is too stingy in upgrading the facilities in the hotel. The breakfast menu is also very limited.

One of the superior room we booked had power failure, our guess were requested to transfer to the nearby Adi Dharma Cottages as there is no extra room available in Adi Dharma hotel.

Adi Dharma Cottages has a more beautiful & well maintain garden but the room is slightly smaller compare to the hotel, same rate.

Overall, this is not a great hotel but not bad either in view of its rate. Agree with sgu97cab’s review below – it could be better.

The stay we had was for 9 nights as a package through Holiday Planet
The room proved to be very clean and had a newish look to it , and had been recently refurbished
I know this because there was other rooms on the top floor that were also being refurbished just down from our room
The service was always on time and courteous from all staff
The location was good as it was near the shops of Kuta and also close to all the restaurants - including the less expensive restaurants down Poppies and adjoining laneways
Quick access to the beach as well, by walking through another hotel adjoining the Adi dharma
They are improving the pool area surrounds - too bad they use the concrete pour method as it does not look so good and also the pebbles they overlay over the concrete are a little rough on bare feet
However the pool is a nice shape and has the swim up bar as well
The pool stays in the shade in the afternoon - which is great if you don't want to get burnt from staying too long in the pool
I would go there again some time for sure - particularly if you want a good quality budget accomodation

The hotel is in a reasonably good location in the middle of Kuta/Legian, near Legian street (3 mins walk), however its a bit further to the beach (15 mins). Legian street has tons of bars, restaurants, shops etc which is good. There is a shuttle bus to the beach but not very frequent (every hour or so). The hotel itself is ok, but the rooms could do with being refurbished, especially the bathrooms which are not very good quality. There are no tea/coffee facilities in the room which I think should be expected these days in 3 star hotels, also no iron or ironing board. Breakfast was ok, but a bit basic and not a great selection of food. The swimming pool is quite small, and not enough sunbeds, so if you want a sunbed you’d have to get in pretty early in the morning, towels are provided which is good.
The hotel spa was really good value for money....about A$20 for a 2 hour massage, body scrub, steam, milk bath etc
P.S. Check out ’Heaven and Hell’ bar which is just around the corner from the hotel. The cocktails are really good and the cheapest we found in Bali.
P.S. If you need to change money, go to one of the Kodak shops (there is one just opposite the Adi Dharma Cottages) as they are legitimate money changers and wont try to rip you off. Other 'indepenant' money changers will offer you a better exchange rate but you have to check your money about 4 times as they are sneaky and will try to distract you and then short change you.

The Hotel is conveniently located within walking distance from the Kuta Beach and the
main tourist lane of Kuta (Legian street). You will find everything in the vicinity.
There are few very good resturants (Warangs) nearby. You must try those. Cheap and good.
The Hotel is quite popular with locals and seem to hold good reputation in Bali. So your Taxi driver would not need directions to reach the hotel.

There are many Tour operators located right on the lane leading to the hotel.
Always negotiate the rates quoted by them. I booked a Talang Waja Rafting trip
for two of us and got a pretty good deal as I tried different shops and Bargained.

The hotel has a big open lobby area. The rooms are spacious and elegantly furnished.
I had booked a superior room with a double bed, but they gave me two single beds
pushed together. On complaining, they promised to shift us to another room the next day
as the hotel was fully booked. Next day when we returned from our day tour, we were
pleasantly surprised to see our new room. They had upgraded us to a deluxe room. The deluxe room had a very
comfy canopy bed, few extra furnitures and better bathroom. However, a common problem in both
the rooms was the aged bathroom doors with latches almost broken.
The buffet breakfast menu changes on a daily basis. Though not very enticing but yet appetizing.

The selection normally would be Fried rice, Noodles,
Bacons, Crossaints, Bread, Pan Cakes, Omlettes made to order, Two types of juices, COffe/Tea, 3-4 Fruits.
The staff was attentive and willing to listen and help. There is a Spa, Swimming pool, Pool table, Internet in the lobby(paid).

I would highly recommend this hotel. It is definitely value for money.

Caution : Avoid Money exchange shops in the alleys (Or shops running other businesses) and do not accept small denominations (20 K or less) as there are fairly high chances of getting confused and cheated.
I did the mistake and am still wondering what hand trick he did? But luckily, I realised fast enough and went back and firmly asked him to return the Dollars, which he finally
did after some relunctance.
There is a Authorized Money Exchanger 5 mins walk on the Legion street.
