“So Friendly”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2012

We stayed at the Adi Dharma Cottages from the 2nd to the 15th of October 2012, firstly we are a family of 4 with 2 young children 2 & 8 and normally stay in Tuban, so was a little hesitant to stay here, but the location was fantastic, just north of Poppies Lane 2 and within walking distance to most things. We put in a request a few weeks before travelling to get connecting rooms and we were lucky enough to get the single level bungalows (403 & 404) which are inter connecting. The rooms are basic but roomy, with lots of storage space and was really clean, the bathrooms look like they have had an minor upgrade, but nothing flash, but again, always clean and well presented. The cottages and grounds were kept immaculate with a team of very friendly gardeners and ground staff out every day. The pool was small but never over crowded, the swim up pool bar however is at the hotel and not the cottages. But that was not a problem as the staff were always willing to bring you a cold drink or food. Be aware that the cottages sides onto a laneway for local housing and the dogs, motorbikes etc take a few days to get used to. Also there is a roof top bar only about 50m away and they go OFF on a Saturday nite until 2am, but the kids slept through so not a huge problem.
The staff make this hotel, they are friendly, warm, accommodating and always have a smile on their faces. Breakfast is a little boring, with only a very small selection of fruit and horid juice on offer, but the eggs, pancakes and Indonesian food they have on offer make up for it, plus there is a Starbucks across the road for much better coffee.
I would highly recommend this hotel as an excellent 3ish star place to stay either long or short term and definately will be back again. Thanks for a great holiday.

Room Tip: Only a narrow block so either side is ok, rooms 403 to 408 are single story and quiet

I stayed here for 3 nights on a stop-over on my way home. The cottages are in a great location right on Legian Street, have a lovely pool, decent breakfast and handy room safe

Being a single female I need to feel safe and certainly did here, due to the security staff on site.

The room was spacious and clean, the bed was very comfortable and the staff were very professional and friendly.

My only negatives would be the gaps around the wooden doors, making easy access for mosquitos in to the rooms. Fortunately for me it wasn't mozi season but I did wake one morning with mosquito bites on me. Not sure what they can do about it though, timber is always going to stretch and shrink in all weather especially hot and/or humid weather. The other negative is the noise from the motorbikes and horns tooting at night but I tend to travel with earplugs and they certainly helped drown out the noise.

Having said all of that though, I think the property is great value for money and I intend to go back to either of the Adi Dharma properties with my teenage children in the near future.

Room Tip: Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms at the back in the new wing are closer to the noisy lane.

We stayed at the Adi Dharma Cottages 25/09-4/10/12. Great location, friendly staff and breakfast included. We were first accommodated in a room at the back of the hotel with a noisey alley below (others on Tripadvisor have complained about these rooms). We asked at reception if we could change to a quieter room and were happily relocated to room 406 which was a cottage and we found that much nicer. Before you confirm your booking, ask if you can have a single story, quiet, room and specify that you do not want a noisey room. The room itself was basic but adequate. The bathroom was recently renovated with a bath, toilet and basin. Typical of 1980s Bali. Great location on Jalan Legian. If you are booking on the net and need to get a cab from the airport, ask the driver to take you to Adi Dharma COTTAGES on Jalan Legian 155. The Adi Dharma HOTEL is in the alley ways behind the cottages. Easily confused! Expect to pay around AU$10.00 for a cab. Oh, our bed was hard! The spa is in the hotel, 5 minutes walk away.

Room Tip: 406 or similar room in the single story cottages are best. See full review.

We stayed for 7 nts. Ended up having 3 different rooms for various reasons, but nothing was a problem for the staff. 2 single beds, then an outdoor bathroom with lots of roaches, then just right. We arrived middle of the night, no problems. Very quick and easy check-in. The breakfast was included at the Nasi Dharma restaurant, and it was awesome. They provide a menu and you can choose any 2 items. Easy as. The nasi goreng was great. and you can also have toast, cereal, fresh fruits, etc. also you can have Bali coffee or ask for a Nescafé. Really happy with the hotel in general and the location was excellent. The pool area is right next to the restaurant so food and drinks are readily available. I can highly recommend the Western Union money changer across the street from this hotel. We also went to the sister hotel where we could have buffet breakfast + food and drinks and charge back, but preferred the Cottages. When we left (real early in the morning) they told us the night beforehand that they would provide us a boxed breakfast to take with us. Exceptional service. I would stay here again, but my wife wouldn't (she didn't like the roaches). Overall great value and service.

For the second time, I stayed at the Adi Dharma in September, great location, massage places close by, supermarket next door. The staff are really friendly, in room safety deposit box, we had a new room, it was cosy but very nice. Value for money, will be returning in March, if I can get in!
