great location opposite Kuta beach, short walk to poppies lane for shopping and restaurants, close to Kuta main shopping area. Hotel rooms bit old but comfortable. rooms have balcony and air conditioner, clean, restaurant good, staff friendly. Good place value for money. Swimming pool refurbished in March 2011

Room Tip: hotel does not have a lift and stairs are a bit steep.

Cannot complain about a thing. It was great place to stay. Perfect location - only a short walk to restaurants and shopping and beach right across the road. Breakfast was always lovely, lots of variety. The Grand Istana Rama staff were the most helpful and friendly people i have ever met. Greeted us all by name everyday - made us feel like part of their Bali family. Beautiful place overall.

Room no. 115 -Average hotel- neat & clean (spacious bathroom). 10 mins slow walk to Kuta centre.
Interesting to see how the security guard uses a crack mirror without light to check the car chassis during the day/night...
Traffic is bad would take about an hour to reach hotel from Kuta Centre, if by vehicle.

Great Hotel, Great location,Great breakfast. Stayed with friends late august 2011 for a week. when the staff found out it was my birthday they placed the flower petals in the water display in the lobby spelling out "Happy Birthday" and when we got back to the room in the afternoon there was a birthday cake on the dresser.Staff all very friendly. Value for money Hotel.

Grand Istana Rama has beautiful Gardens and a refurbished pool although the surrounds as in paving around pool could with a spruce up. The check in was smooth and quite quick for Bali standards. When we booked six months prior we asked for ground floor rooms and not one of the three couples got this request which upset the older ones in the group. other then that the rooms were lovely and clean and the breakfast was an array of variety every morning. The hotel runs several programs as in language classes and cooking classes which my husband and son attended they went to the markets to purchase fresh produce then returned to the hotel to make their gado gado for lunch they both enjoyed the experience. The hotel also have a resident surfing school in the hotel and this was popular everyday with many people on the course it looked like fun. My only gripe with this hotel is the water pressure in the shower isnt enough to wash long hair in and the price of the drinks at the bar ridiculous 80,000Rp for a beer and 89,000Rp for a cocktail with hardly any kick so we went out for afternoon drinks rather than drink at the bar as they are quick to jump on you around the pool with the menus for food and drink (ps not allowed to drink duty free around the pool) Will stay again as the service and cleanliness is of a great standard and the beds were comfortable for a good nights sleep Yes Kuta is noisey but once in the hotel room with door shut all is good. Drop in straight over the road to Achie Bar on the beach for 15000Rp Bintang at sunset they bring you a chair to sit and enjoy the sunset beautiful...
