“Lovely hotel & great staff!”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

We have just returned from a 8 night stay! What a great hotel! We loved every bit!

We were a little nervous as when we first booked the only pics of the hotel were computer generated, it was a pleasant surprise to see that the hotel did in fact resemble the pics.

The room - beautiful! We had a pool access room, would deffo recommend this room. It was clean and always made up fantastically. The bed & pillows were oh so comfy, I slept better here than I do at home.

The Staff - They were so friendly. We were always greeted with a hello, how are you. Nothing was to much of an ask & the were always willing to help. (A big hello to Ei-Made)

The Breakfast - Could always be better, i think we were used to more variety, but as this is a fairly quiet hotel there would be no point in having too much food as it would be wasted. They had a mix of indonesian and western foods.. There was always something yummy to have each day.. and the banana pancakes were delish!

The Location - Fantastic location! Not far from kuta beach, Beachwalk & clubs. We found everything to be in walking distance.

Overall it was a fantastic stay and we cannot wait to return in June!!

See you soon! :)

This is the second time we are staying here. The first time was around 3 months ago. And I must say each stay has been a really pleasant one. The staff recognised us immediately and we felt so at home.

Breakfast was alright. Rooms are clean. The whole place is like a quiet sanctuary. It's a pity that the pool was out of order when we were there the second time though.

Will definitely be back again! (:

Room Tip: Pool access rooms are really worth it!

I was introduced to this new hotel by my agent and I would say Fantastic! The location is around 5 mins walk to the Kuta Beach. The staff were polite and friendly, and would explain clearly on those attractions which we were interested to go. The room were clean and tidy when we returned every night.

Breakfast was so-so only so don't expect too much.

The alley back to the hotel is a little quiet at night though.

Very clean new accommodation well situation, very good breakfast although a little more variety would ne nice but that's a very small thing. This hotel is very quiet and welcoming. Well worth a stay and so central to everything. Its more of a family hotel then a place for the to keep up your heels and drive the neighbours mad. The pool is great and everything is so clean. You will not be sorry.

Room Tip: The lower floor has family rooms.

After a week long trip around Gili Islands it was an absolute relief to arrive at The Bene.

PROS
It is a brand new hotel and therefore extremely modern and clean compared to the other hotels nearby. This was a great relief for me and my boyfriend as we were in need of a break from all of the older hotels we stayed at (although lovely in a cultural way, I must say that I was extremely happy to shower in a normal and modern bathroom at The Bene).

The service at this hotel was exceptional. I think this goes for all Indonesian hospitality but I was impressed by the service here. For breakfast I ordered a coffee latte (which I take unsweetened) but received an extremely sweet one. I guess I must have had a slight negative reaction because two waiters ran up to me and exchanged it right away!

I DEFINITELY recommend getting a pool access room. We really enjoyed being able to quickly go in and out of our room from the pool deck. The pool was never busy as well so the room was still extremely quiet for the light sleeper that I am.

Location is very good. If you don't mind the unpleasant small roads (I must emphasize the amount of speeding motorcycles that drive through here) Kuta Beach is a mere 10 minute walk away and all the nightlife is also nearby.

There is also great selection of American movie channels so we were content!

CONS
However, since it is only 2-3 months old, cab drivers have absolutely no idea where this hotel is. When arriving we got dropped off at the tip of the unpleasant Bene road (try not to get run over by all the motorcycles) and were misled by locals as there are two other hotels with "bene" in their names. When in doubt ask for the Best Western as that is close to the hotel. Once you find it for the first time it isn't that difficult to get to and since we immediately got greeted with tasty guava juice and face towels our moods got much better (easily pleased).

There are massages offered at their other hotel which is quite a pain because the cab ride is pretty far and with traffic we actually didn't make it on time! They also promote these massages by saying that the cab fare will be reimbursed, but that only applies to the first fare and not for your return. Since we didn't make our massage appointment none of our fares were reimbursed (not that the fares are expensive anyway, but they were not honest about this).

The breakfast is average - the only beverages they offer are a few juices and you have to pay for your own coffee and tea. The only good thing was that there is a basic omelette/egg station.

Room service took over an hour for a basic club sandwich and fries.

OVERALL: Great hotel for the price (around USD70 a night for pool access room) so very happy overall!

Room Tip: Pay the extra dollars for a pool access room!

2MovingTheChi.com were excited to arrive in Bali from Singapore. We selected The Bene as our hotel, based on good reviews. The hotel has only been open two months. There is a taxi stand at the airport we would recommend using. Dozens of taxi drivers will solicit your business, all charging what they think you will pay. The taxi stand charged a fixed price of 80,000 rupiahs for the 20 minute ride (about $7.50 USD). It took the taxi driver awhile to locate The Bene since it is new.

Once we arrived, we entered the hotel’s open air reception area and restaurant. The staff was exceptionally nice and always had smiles and pleasant greetings each day of our stay. In the center of the hotel (shaped in a square) is a very nice swimming pool. Unfortunately, the water in the pool looked nasty, and the pool was closed so they could “treat” the water.

But we came here for Kuta Beach, which is only a short 5 minute walk away. Comfortable umbrellaed beach chairs are widely available for around 50,000 rupiahs (about $4.50 USD for two chairs for 2 hours). We did not negotiate much, but as a comparison, our first offer for beach chairs was twice as much.

Our queen bed, central air conditioned, hardwood floor room was very comfortable. Free wifi is offered throughout the hotel, but is sporadic. Sometimes fast, sometimes a snoozer. Rooms have sliding glass doors that open to a balcony or to a patio area for first floor rooms that surround the pool. The refrigerator is stocked with “for purchase” items and two small bottles of complimentary water daily. A coffee maker is available on a shelf above the refrigerator. The wall mounted flat panel TV offers a variety of channels. The closet area has an in-room safe, robes and slippers.

The shower only bath is average in size and layout. The shower has a glass separator from the toilet. Water pressure is strong with plenty of hot water. Also included are bath toiletries, a wall mounted hair dryer, and the linens include wash clothes, not something we found at all hotels on our journey. The water coming from the bathroom sprayer beside the toilet had an unpleasant odor that was not noticed with the sink or shower water.

Our rate included a breakfast each morning in their open air restaurant, which offered an omelet station, breads to toast, juices, a small selection of fruit, bacon, sausages, and two other items that changed daily, coffee or tea.

We enjoyed our quiet and comfortable visit and would return. While in town, try Bella Italia restaurant and have a massage at the Soma Massage (cash only). Both are about a 15 minute walk from the hotel.
