Pelangi Bali is a great value for money Hong Kong style Restaurent. My family discovered this place by chance. We actually stayed in a nearby hotel and we wanted to try something different that day. We intended to head for one offering French Cuisine but instead stopped at this one because we were attracted with the large poster of the Peking Duck. We were somewhat skeptical but we didn't regret that choice. I will surely come back if ever I am in Bali. So Guys, keep it up.
We stumbled across Pelangi only by chance as were looking for dumplings for a Sinda lunch and we are very happy we did.
Travelling with twin boys adds the need for restaurants to be child friendly and right from the start we knew we were in the correct place when two high chairs being assembled and ready for use in less than a minute.
The menu is extensive and appears to be the real deal when we were the only western people along with many Chinese eating there and enjoying the food.
As mentioned we were looking for dumplings and a separate menu full of various types met our needs and averaged between IDR25,000 - IDR35,000 for 3 - 5 dumplings dependant on the type. The only down fall is there are no vegetarian or vegetable dumplings available.
After one course and still feeling the need to sample more on the menu I ordered the chicken noodle with dumpling and pork balls and this was delicious (IDR35,000). It came out as a dry dish (which I prefer) with a full supply of condiments; dumplings and meatballs in a soup to the side so it could be added to the meal and make it just as you prefer. Definately add the chilli oil and pastes as they will low your mind... Yum!
The drinks were also delicious and averaged between IDR15,000 - IDR25,000 which is fair and reasonable.
The staff were the winner with everyone being very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Our children adored them all and we were actually left alone for most of the meal as the staff entertained the children and kept them laughing and smiling.
Pelangi was not on Trip Avisor so I added it so everyone could try it out and enjoy the menu.
