“Overpriced, so-so hotel off highway of nonstop traffic”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2012

Niether "Mega" nor "Grand" this hotel clearly bites off more than it can chew.
The rooms are small and look like the interior of a dollhouse - somewhat cartoonish. The bathtub is tiny, I can already see the news story of some big-assed Aussie stuck in there until the firge brigade rescues him.
Very firm beds in the room. One window looks out onto the pool in the "deluxe", but it's floor to ceiling on the first level so people can see just as much of you. It doesn't open, and the air feels stagnent. It's small in there, and for me, it was claustraphobic.
It's not anywhere you want to be, you cant' walk because there's no sidewalks to speak of and crossing the street is extremely hazardous to your health!
No entertainment, and the pool area isn't much of a scene even though the photos make it look very inviting it's more of a photo op.
The "business center"? A single laptop that sits in the corner of the lobby.
There's no reason to hang out in the hotel so the price doesn't justify a hotel where you don't want to be or a neighborhood you want to be in. Why bother? There's much better choices out there, it would really seem a waste of a vacation.

We've stayed in the Grand Mega Ressort in August 2012 for 3 nights after arriving in Bali, as it's located close to the airport. A lot has already been said in the previous reviews, so here are our personal pro's and con's: We had a room to the main road, which had no daylight as the hotel's fassade was right in front of our window. As this road seems to be the main road in southern Bali it was really noisy, also at night. Although the hotel seems to be built in 2012 it doesn't look that new, but still has a nice decor and lots of features. One thing that really annoyed us was that we've booked the airport pick up with this hotel in advance, as our flight was arriving at 3am in the morning and all we wanted was to go straight to bed. But no one showed up at the airport, so we had to take an overpriced taxi. Arriving at the hotel we've asked the staff why there was no one there to pick us up, and they came up with some lame excuse like "we didn't know if you've already arrived" (they had our flight number and arrival time). The daily shuttle to Kuta beach is just one way, and just 3 times a day (10am, 2pm and 4pm, make sure you don't wake up late). Prices at the bar are above average (a beer is about 4 EUR).

For the price we paid this place was awesome. The place was fairly new and modern. There were 6 of us who stayed for 2 nights before moving onto our next accommodation. The staff here were sooo lovely and happy to help whenever possible. They arranged a birthday cake for one of our travelers and all cake to sing her happy birthday by the poolside. It's those extra things that make stays more enjoyable. The buffet breakfast was good, had a good range of food. Location was a little further from central kuta, but no hassles to get a cab there. Would definitely stay here again! Thanks to the staff for making this enjoyable!

Had a wonderful time at Grand Mega resort, rooms good size and the bathroom to die for. Room service came in everyday to clean the room so no problem there, staff are wonderfull and always greet you with a smile. Breakfast had good selection including a egg and pancakes counter. Pool good size but just be careful as its quite slippery if you walk from the shallow section to the other side. We had dinner and lunch once at the restaurant and i found it pretty reasonably priced. This is a new hotel so not many taxi drivers know it yet but i had the hotel card with address on it to show to taxi drivers so no problem there. You can ask at reception to call you a cab, would take few minutes. Location is not bad, there is a 24 hr mini mark accross the road and a decent mall as well, the security will assist you cross the road. Its not in the heart of kuta but taxi would cost 20,000 to 40,000idr depending on the traffic. Overall very happy with the hotel and service provided, if we came back to bali would definately come back to this hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a deluxe room on a high floor.

My husband and I just back from Bali yesterday and we spent our last night in this hotel. The room design is pretty nice decorated. However, the washing basin does not seem so ergonomic, we have to put our toothbrush, toothpaste, facial foam on the long chair in the toilet. The floor was quite dusty too.The light was not functioning well but the staff did change it after we made a call to service department. Perhaps, the hotel should check everything properly before the guests enter the room. This hotel is only 2 months in Bali and i would say there is room for them to improve. We still can see some work are in progress and the direction of lift is not very clear.

We picked this hotel as it was near the airport and we were transitting through Bali. It's a new facility. The taxi ride from the airport was 70,000 IDR and the return was 35,000 IDR. The hotel had the friendliest and most helpful staff I have ever seen. The front desk staff and doormen were attentive. The escort to the room was friendly. That's to be expected. What really surprised me was the person that answered the phone for room service and the guy who delivered our food. They carried through the same friendliness which was repeated the next morning at breakfast from the hostess and even the egg chef! The decor of the hotel is modern and not really my taste. The bathroom could use some counter space but the tv above the tub is a nice touch. The included buffet breakfast was delicious. I wouldn't pick this hotel if I was looking for a traditional Bali experience but if you prefer a modern decor and great staff, it's a great pick.

We have to admit the start of the stay was not so nice. No wifi in the rooms (something broken or not enough network..). Then the hotel is not finished so many works in progress. At last the service at the restaurant was very slow. But after explaining to the staff, the F&B manager and then the hotel GM, we felt better. We have been offered a 50% discount voucher for our next lunch. Rooms and lobby are designed with a very modern spirit. Nice and original. Quality will have to be maintained at the top to be successful. Location is great for shopping.
