My sister-in-law her husband and myself have just returned from beautiful Bali. This was my second time to Bali, last year we stayed at the Padma Hotel in Legian. If I were to give my opinion as to which hotel I would go back to it would have to be the Padma.
The first two nights at the Dynasty we shared a family room with garden view. It was supposed to be an upgrade but I think it may have been the worst room I have ever stayed in. That's not to say that the room was not good. It was the ducted air conditioning that was the problem. The room was constantly wet; floor, walls, bedding. etc. After a two day stay in the room, I moved into a Superior garden view room - nice room although the bathroom a little tired and in need of an upgrade and they moved into a Studio family room with pool view, very nice room. No problem with the Air con in either room.

*Breakfast - very good with pleanty of choice
*Pool - not really refreshing more like a warm bath
*Staff - very helpful and friendly

If you have children it is probably a good place to stay, It is very noisy because there are lots of kids but there is a constant stream of activities for them. Happy hour happens twice daily if your into that sought of thing and they have theme night bbq's or buffett.

*Restaurant -We did eat out a couple of times at 'il fiori" the italian restaurant opposite Centro and would recommend this restaurant.
*Waterbom park was very good for the young who could go on all the waterslides and for the not so young who could just float around on inflatable rings.
*Shopping: Jenny's shop just across the road from the Dynasty very good for t-shirts etc. Jenny dosen't bargin but she does give the best prices. Matahari in Denpasar very good, prices better than the one in Kuta. It cost us 200,000 rp ($24aus) for 4 hours for a driver, he waited for us while we shopped to our hearts content.
*Bali Safari fantanstic - a good day out.
The Dynasty is probably a good place if you have kids, but be warned it is very busy and very noisy.

After 5 nights in very rustic accommodation in Ubud experiencing the real Bali we hit the Dynasty for a couple of days for the kids. Our room was spacious and clean, the staff were helpful and efficient and our 6 year old adored the kids club and water slide. That said, if you want a holiday where all you do is sit in the hotel by the pool drinking beer or partaking in the "daily events" like a giant summer camp - pool volleyball and bingo anyone? and not set a foot outside (and you don't mind lots and lots of kids running around) you'll love the Dynasty. Personally I would rather get away from the hordes of tattooed, Bintang singlet wearing happy hour bar flies but now that the 6 year old has discovered the world of kids' clubs we are destined to visit again - at least it's a holiday!

We were recomended to this hotel by our travel agent as I wanted the children to experince a fantastic family holiday. All I can say it doesn't look like the pictures!! The lobby/entrance looks very flash but venuture down to the pool area and you will find the it seems to be in an 80's timewarp!! When we stayed (one week ago) it was chockablock with yobbo parents who sat at either the pool bar and began drinking after breakfast through till midnight, whilst there feral offspring spent the entire day in the free kids club ( I think this was the appeal to most of those parents), or fed there faces on hot chips and getting wobbly leg massages in front of us all. There were flys and even bees (my daughter was bitten within ten minutes), everywhere. The staff weren't friendly either. Overall I totally don't rate this hotel at all!!!! Very disapointed! P.S our flight was changed on us so we had to check out a day early, (which of course we weren't reimbursed for extra night or 4 extra breakfasts all pre-paid), but we actually couldn't wait to leave!!

We have just returned from staying at the Bali Dynasty Resort and after a minor hicup (kids suite not available for first 2nights) we were upgraded to the Executive Suite, we would highly recommend this hotel for families, especially after the renovations are complete. The renovated kids suite was fantastic and offered just that little bit of privacy from the kids. I had read other reviews prior to arriving at the hotel and I was a little concerned about the atmosphere around the pool especially at happy hour, but my concerns were unfounded, there is a little of that aussie bogan factor, but it is quite easy to remove yourself from that and enjoy all that this hotel has to offer, which is a great kids club and area for the kids, a great adults only area and as for the location we couldn't have asked for better, close to Waterbom Park, Discovery Mall and Kuta Square.
Here is a few tips for fellow travellers - Go to Jennys Shop which is across the road from Hotel and Queen of India Resturant, she is fixed price shop and her prices are fantastic and you will know exactly what to pay for things at other shops were you need to barter. Avoid the alley shops next to the hotel on the way to beach until you know your prices as they are a rip off. Poppies 2 is fantastic for barter shopping but again know your prices and last of all, next to the hotel is a money changer and next to the money changer is a supermarket, this is the place to shop for your water and food needs, really cheap..

I wouldn't stay anywhere else in bali with my kids. I have been 13 times to Bali, as a single, and as a mum. Last time at the dynasty, my 2 year old got really sick. Thank god for the hotel doctor. Thank god we stayed in and paid for the Dynasty, it was a godsend!

The front of the hotel, the lobby, all the promotional hype led me to think this was going to be great...until we got into our 1970's soviet era rooms overlooking a rotten concrete ally. We had two rooms and paid $115 for each. Hell where do I start. Tick tick tick tick was all we heard from the dirty aircon unit and it poured water all over the floor. The kids room did the same minus the water. The hotel was wall to wall "Trailer Trash" everyone smoking one after another, beer in the other while screaming and their equally unattractive fat kids who were running up and down the corridors with noise that came into our rooms well past midnight and started again at 6am.... it was horrible and living hell. The pool was a scene from 'Trailer Trash Scum" side by side screaming yelling smoking drinking drunks who's fat belly's were hanging down to their knees. We really did have to laugh as they rocked to aussie rock while pouring down the booze. Happy hour bell had the ex hooker tattoo covered water beasts surge forward screaming to buy their dilluted cocktails which I noted they sloped down one after another without leaving the pool for the bathroom. The only good thing I can say about the hotel is the Lotus Chinese restaurant. It was one of the best I have eaten at anywhere in the world. As for the rest of the Dynasty Hotel if you like scumville this is made for you. If you have any class don't stay there. Our bed was overdue for the scrap heap and covered in stains. The people in the room next door could not open their draws, there were no runners.
We moved out to the new Holiday Inn around the corner and that was total heaven and on the beach. The Holiday Inn was wide and open spaces in soft modern pastels, brilliant design, huge rooms and cheaper than the Dynasty which by the way is not on the beach even though their advertising makes you think it is.

We stayed in a family suite and it was perfect. We have two kids aged 4 & 6 and they had the time of their life. Cannot recommend this hotel high enough, can't wait to go back.

The kids club was amazing, our kids asked to go every day!!!
