“Has the essentials & caters to kids”
Reviewed January 18, 2011

Stayed here in a deluxe room for 4 nights in mid January with my husband and our friends and their 2 girls (7 & 10) in a deluxe suite room too.
Barely was even aware that the airport was more or less next door - never woken up or disturbed by any excess noise. The resort was full of Australians (75% according to staff) and heavy with families with children. Surprised to find that the resort is fairly quiet and isolated - no shops or restaurants just around the corner (10 minute walk or so away and up a side street away from the beach) and no hawkers on the footpath patrolling for people who leave the resort. Taxis and bigger vans readily available at the resort's 'Taxi Service' at the lobby. About 30,000Rp to get to Centro Discovery Plaza shopping centre across the road from Waterbom Park.
Our friends 2 girls loved the kids club and willingly spent hours in there. They had a hotel arranged babysitter one night and loved her. All the staff were friendly and smiling every day by the way. Pool busy with kids and mums and dads get the sun loungers bright and early to supervise them. Pool only about 1.2 metres deep so very friendly for littler people. By the late afternoon it quietens a lot and the poor bar goes in to Happy Hour from 4 - 5pm for 2 for 1 cocktails.
Didn't try the restaurants, our friends did and were pleased with cleanliness, serving size, service and quality of food. Breakfast buffet was what you expect from the Bali hotels, albeit a little less in variety than say the Padma but I emphasise only a little less. If you want Vegemite then BYO or be prepared to brave the communal jar which is available on request. Two coffee critics in our group were particularly impressed with the coffee at breakfast, even though it lacked the wicked caffeine kick it apparently tasted very nice.
Used the spa for duo manicure and pedicure - high quality result (impressive) and was 325,000Rp for 90 minutes. Srinik and Ketut (both lady therapists) give fantastic massages (strong and highly accurate) for 60 minutes at 255,000Rp. Great value for such a high quality, therapeutic service.
It's a very big place and if you've got some difficulties getting around, you may find it too much. Yes you can get a buggy (golf vehicle type) to pick you up and the like but obviously it won't be outside your door the moment you want to leave. Deluxe room had all the essentials. It was clean, nice and dark window coverings so you can sleep in for hours. Shower water leaks heavily on the floor no matter what you do with the shower curtain so be careful if you're worried about slipping or opt to have a bath, which is deep and generous in size. No DVD player in the deluxe room or deluxe suite either it seems. The bed has over sized, heavy, sharp corners at the feet end and we both smashed our shins on them until we wrapped the bed runner across the end of the bed on the second day - you have been warned! The gym was closed for renovations so no idea what it was like.
It cost less than $700 AUD per adult for 5 days, 4 nights with daily breakfast (including airfares) and the resort is a 4 star in standard (not a high 4 but definitely not a 3). It was a nice place to stay for a short break that had all the essentials. I probably prefer to be closer to shops and restaurants and didn't need all the family provisions. If you want the luxury touches then you would be a bit let down. If you like to be within a short driving distance from all the Kuta amenities, that's not going to burn a hole in your wallets, that's moments from the airport without really knowing it, has all the essentials and is a kid friendly space, you may find the Patra is the place you need.

We have just returned on 10th Jan from ten days at the Patra resort. Absolutely beautiful. The accommodation (deluxe room) was fantastic! Grounds were impeccably kept and the people friendly, welcoming and accommodating.
If I had to find fault with anything (and I am really trying to find them) it would be the water pressure in the shower - but as people have stated on this site previously 'it is Bali' and another issue - lack of deck chairs by the pool. I know that sounds petty but during a one week staying we only were able to secure deck chairs on one day.
So if you are looking for a family friendly, clean and beautiful resort you cannot fault Patra.

Our first holiday with the kids aged 6 and 8, stayed in the deluxe suite which was fantastic but next time we would request 2 single roller beds instead of sofa lounge only because the kids hated being in the same bed had to put pillows between them. Our friends had the same room but knew to request the single beds... the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful always cleaning up around the gardens. Same person cleaned our room which was nice and he got to know that we just wanted the new towels as our room was always busy with lots of shopping scattered everywhere.. buffet breakfast was amazing. didn't use the kids club as had my parents there if we ever wanted to leave kids by the pool while we shopped. my parents were in a room below us and said they could hear the kids jumping around in the morning. but didn't worry them too much, you can hear the planes I'm a light sleeper but soon got used to it and I was that stuffed once I hit the pillow I didn't hear a thing.

The only down side of the hotel was it was a taxi ride to get to the main streets and restaurants and we found our son the youngest was just too tired to go out at night, but the hotel had great pizzas by the pool which we had alot just for the ease and we were quite comfortable sitting by the pool or bar to eat. happy hour for 2 hours I think at the pool bar then after that the other bar had it for 2 hours hence why we were happy to stay and eat at the hotel...Our only other thing was our room was a bit far away from the pool and Lobby,so will request a room closer next time. although my son would just jump on a passing golf buggy to the pool or back to the room ,as he said "it was easier to ask the driver to take him to the room as he gets lost and he didn't want to walk," quite funny and the staff didn't even get a tip as he never had any money little bugger..

Extremely friendly staff always working and waving or playing with the kids in the pool. would recommend the Patra and as my mum said its a great hotel for the kids and the pool just that little bit too far out if you want to just nick off for a quick shop.. Overall great hotel don't let my down sides keep you away as it could suit people to be away from the pool and lobby. But in saying that the staff were always happy to drive you back with your shopping in the little golf buggy..

It was our first trip to Bali, so we didn’t know what to expect.
First we did book the Deluxe suites for 4 nights, but after the second nights we book 4 more.

The location is not so good but they offer free Bus shuttle to Kuta centre, which
is very convenience if you want to eat or shop. The price and the taste
of the food they sell at the restaurant are the only thing I can complaint about it.
The first day I spend around 70, - Euros at the Restaurant, just for 2 meals
and some drinks. We went everyday with the free Bus to Kuta and there
you can eat and drink on a reasonable price.

The gardens are beautiful and the room quite spacious (with 2 balcony).
The staffs are always friendly and the breakfast was the best.

Would definitely stay at the Patra again, if I go back to Bali!

I went with 2 other friends to Bali and we chose to stay at this resort. The service was perfect, everyone was very helpful and nothing was too big a deal for them. The apartments we stayed in was clean, comfortable and new. They provided us with breakfast and some dinners as part of our stay. The swimming pool have a view to die for! If you do visit, chose a rainy night where there is a storm in the far ocean and just lay back and enjoy the view from the swimming pool. You won't regret it!

We stayed 10 days in a Deluxe suite and it was great. We had our own room and the kids(4 &6) staying in the living area. The room was cleaned by the same person everyday and it was spotless. The main pool was great for the kids, not to deep. The best thing about the Parta was the Kid's Club. The staff where great. The kids loved it, as they had something to do all the time eg: kite flying, feeding the fish, painting, making necklaces. The kids had there own splash pool and a huge playground. The only thing that I could say bad about the Patra is the price of meals. Very high but we found lots of cheap places to eat then you turn right onto the beach footpath.

Just spent two weeks at the Patra with my husband, daughter and family (including 21 month toddler) and we all loved it. No complaints at all. Rooms kept spotless every day, breakfasts were enormous, restaurant meals were great if a bit expensive, gardens were immaculate and the pools absolutely beautiful. Spent lots of time swimming and lounging around poolside, very relaxing. Loved the swim-up bar! Right next to beach with magnificent sunsets. Staff always very friendly, smiling, happy and helpful. Walked into town along beach path or taxis readily available for around $2 to $3. Would definitely stay at the Patra again. Real value for money!
