We stayed at The Patra for 8 nights Oct 2010. It was lovely so lovely that the President of Indonesia was staying there too! The location is perfect about 25000- 30000RP ($3-$4) cab ride to Kuta or can walk along beach path for about 30mins. It was quite and you really did'nt need to leave at all. There was basically a private beach- three surf breaks past the reef which my husband loved!- Two fantastic pools- the main one is massive and surrounded by palm trees, beautiful gardens and ofcourse a wet bar! The rooms were really big, comforable and clean. The spa is beautiful too - we had a few massages $35 US each- more then most places but was really relaxing and professional. The food was really nice too- highly recommened the Seafood buffet was 180 000RP and had everything, but not the BBQ Buffet- there was hardly any choice and hardly any food- for the same price! Most days we ate lunch round pool- just light snacks- i thought it was abit pricey for Bali but realistically it was same prices and quality as Australia- $12- $20. Watch out with anything you order throughout the resort 21% tax is added to everything, drinks included.
We had a really great time was great being close to Kuta but out of the hussel and bussle- just really relaxing!

This was my first trip to Bali and I was pleasantly surprised by the look, feel and cleanliness of the Patra. We stayed in a Deluxe Suite and couldn't fault it - sure, the hot water takes ages, but you're in Bali, what do you need hot water for? The pool area was gorgeous (the sunken bar especially!) and the food delicious, whether by the pool, in your room or at one of the many restaurants. Bit dearer than Kuta but you get what you pay for. We were spoilt for choice at breakfast, yum! The spa was lush and oh so relaxing and the staff fabulous. The only thing for me was the distance from the resort to Kuta, but with shuttle busses and cheap taxis, it's not much hassle.
Next time, we will be staying closer to the action, but will definitely be back to the Patra for a family holiday in the future.

This was our first trip to Bali and was extremely happy with the Patra Resort. Beautiful grounds (great for families), rooms, food at the restaurants was amazing. The service you could not fault. The Resort offers a shuttle bus 5 times a day taking you into Kuta which takes only about 5 minutes otherwise taxi or if you like to walk, about a 20 minute walk along the pathway on the beach. We mostly walked as we enjoyed talking to people and you get to see all the other resorts located along the way. I would highly recommend this resort and we did not have to pay the earth to stay there.

I recently took my 15 year old daughter to Bali, to relax and shop. This was my 7th trip to Bali, and the last time was 6 years ago with my son and we stayed at the Dynasty, which was great but wouldn't have been suitable for us now.
The Patra was perfect, a beautiful resort, not too busy, only a few small kids, and the I would highly recommend it. The staff were very friendly, our room was small but very clean, and the buffet breakfast was plentiful and delicious. We also had a fantastic dinner at the theme night, and the margarita pizza in the pizza restaurant was the best we have ever had.
We thoroughly enjoyed the walk to Kuta every day, and a taxi was available at the foyer at about $3 a trip if it was too hot. The drinks may have been a little pricey, similar to Australia, but when you are on holidays and staying at a lovely resort, who cares !!!
