First time in Bali for me,so the transfer time from the airport was really appealing at around 5 Mins ! Considering how close to the Airport it was really peaceful and relaxing. Just a short stroll up the Beach to Kuta and all the Markets but really quiet. The Gardens are extensive and the is a great pool with swim up Bar which is pricy but the have a happy hour from 1700-1900 and did lovely Cocktails ! To be honest we only ate breakfast at the hotel with the exception of the odd poolside snack but the breakfast was plenty to keep you going with a great choice for westerners and loads of local food too . I really enjoyed eating asian food and fresh fruit for Breakfast everyday on the terrace outside. The room type we had was Deluxe suite which was gorgeous, massive bed and really roomy with a separte seating area and large balcony lots of different kinds of Birds and Lizards. The staff couldn't do enough for you and were always happy to help and the room was kept immaculate. Could not fault it really lots to do or not do...make sure you have a couple of Cocktails or Bintang's in the Sunset beach bar....at Sunset !
Overall great time in a very good Hotel looking forward to going back next year !

When first looking to book a hotel in Bali I went straight to trip advisor. We had been given a few options of where to stay but could not decide. When looking at trip advisor I was a little concerned about staying at Patra but a couple of reviews from families with young children persuaded me to go. I am soooo glad we did. We loved our room - deluxe suite. We have 3 children 8, 7 & 5 and there was room for them and us. The breakfast was exceptional with a massive range to choose from both western and asian. The grounds are exquisite and the pool fantastic. We did walk to Kuta most of the time and the kids were fine and we also caught the free shuttle bus. Taxis were the most $3 from Kuta so not much if too hot. For dinner we only really ate at Green Garden which was fabulous. There are 2 Green Garden's the one we ate at is across from Holiday Inn 7 minute walk along beach. For our first big overseas trip in a few years we certainly had a wonderful time.

I stayed in this hotel in 2007 when i was 13 and remember it to be just as beautiful as it is today if not better with the renovations.
I've been to bali 8 times and stayed in 7 hotel. I stayed here with my partner and a group of 9 friends aged between 25 - 30.
Our room was Fantastic, small balcony on the ground floor overlooking the beautiful grounds, excellent bathroom very new and clean looking and great water pressure from the shower, massive bed and plenty of floor space for all my shopping!
Loved the staff they would always greet you in passing and had a bit of fun with all our friends.
The pool was awesome it was so huge, i'm not a fan of kids in hotels but the kids pool is ages away from the pool bar so you didnt even see them. there were always plenty of sun beds and staff were always available to get drinks from.
My only problem is that we love heading to Kuta beach near Kuta square for sunset stubbies and the hotel was too far out of town for me. we were lucky because we hire a scooter and can get thru traffic quicker but at this time of day our friends in the taxi could take up to 30 minutes to meet us down there.
Also the grounds are so big that our room was ages away from the lobby and pool. our friends were in a deluxe suite and i highly recommend these if you can afford them because they are alot closer to everything. In saying this there are staff driving golf buggies around the grounds who are happy to give you a lift if you call them!
And the pool bar was too expensive 55000rp for a small bintang... way too much. Bali Moon cocktails were 95000rp we love to have lazy days by the pool bar but only did it once in our 10 days because we couldn't justify paying that much for a bintang.
I recommend this hotel for first timers to Bali because your not in the the middle of crazy Kuta!
Its heaps easier to walk to Kuta since the beach footpath has been built its an easy walk for most people but probably a bit far for little kids. And there is no restaurants out the front of the hotel (there is nothing out the front of the hotel)
This hotel is amazing and its definately a winner if you have money to spend and you dont plan to venture out too often.
Oh and if your a regular and are confident to grab yourself a taxi from the airport rather than pay for transfers, do so! you literally drive out the airport gates, turn a corner and your on the road to the Patra! You can see and hear the planes but after the novelty of watching them land from the beach out the front wears off... like after your first bintang, you forget they'r even there!

Beautiful deluxe suite, lovely staff, lovely Balinese people. The price was exceptional, the room lovely and the resort every thing we wanted. We did not eat in the restaurants after breakfast as we wanted to taste and meet local. That is not to say they were not up to standard. Far from this they provided a real infusion of different tastes. We met and now remain friends with warung locals and will certainly return to Patra Bali soon. Cheryl and David

My Husband and I stayed at the Patra from the 15 march till the 18 th march 2011 just a mini getaway without our children , we found the hotel to be beautiful the pool being nice and big but we did find that the food was over priced a club sandwich around the pool costing 110000 rph when at other hotels we have stayed at not being any different in the star rating being half that price and no different in the food quality. We also found that we were too far away from anything even just to do a bit of shopping and taxi s were hard to get from the hotel and took a while to come when ordered, we have stayed at a few hotels in the same area and think they are better for value one top pick from us would have to be the Dynasty so will deffinatly stay there again even if it was a trip without our girls.

Dear Tracey,

First of all thanks for your review and let me have this chance to advise you as follows :
* The price of the sandwich , I will work on this and to see the possibility to adjust.
* The distance, I would suggest you that we have a pathway on the beach that will bring you to the famous shopping in Kuta ( Discovery shopping Mall or Centro) by walking along the beach for approximately 15 minutes. we are in Tuban Area it is very close to Kuta Beach ( approx 7 - 10 minutes by taxi ).

Again, we do appreciate your review and please do let me know if you need further information and any assistances.

Kind regards,

Recently went on a 'relaxing' 11 night stay at the Patra Hotel - Bali.
Well, where to begin?? - firstly
We were charged $50 (by our delusional Travel Agent) airport transfer fee to/from Hotel/Airport - reasonable i thought, till we did the journey & realised that for approx. $2 we could have done it ourselves as it was the shortest distance I have EVER travelled to an airport, I actually thought they were joking. We were that close to the airport I could read the writing on the planes landing & taking off.
The rooms aircon did'nt work, but we were offered an upgrade to a villa for only $400 Aus. Dollars (mmmm!!!). The telly was so ancient & small, we had to buy binoculars to view it, NO DVD to check ur 'rip off' DVD's with.
The showers are step-in a bath type, very dangerous if ur not a light foot.
The pool was chlorinated but never saw anyone actually clean it, the tiles had 'BLACK' scum around (NO JOKE). Lots of Indonesian guests staying there, not a problem there, but I do object to them continuously 'GOBBING' (and i do mean gobbing) in the pool.
Tried to read a book in the relaxing ambiance of the pool area, only to be greeted to both bars (in very close proximity to each other) competing for the loudest "BOOM/BOOM' music imaginable from 9.00am onward, thankfully one Canadian guest asked them to change the CD as it had been played 3 times in succession.
Practically every day they had an 'Event' of some sort, which meant the guests were all moved from the pool area to accomodate the table & chairs.
Everything looked diry & black (just like old London town used to be) mind you! as we left we did notice that they finally got the 'Karcher' out and to my suprise - the stage area was 'Terrecotta' in colour.
Not worth the money we paid, take my advise, move along the path a bit - there are some stunning looking holtels along the way.
Do yourselves a favour, book elsewhere - DEFINATELY NOT 5 star standard that Aussies and/or Europeans expect and are wiling to pay for.

Dear Madam and Sir,

First of all, thanks for your review and please give us an opportunity to give you a feedback as follows :

* For Airport transfer we suggest you to deal directly with your travel agent who has a deal directly with you. I agree that the price for Airport transfer should be in a proper amount considering the distance of our hotel to the Airport.

* If you could let me know which date that our team has offered you for an upgrading , as I understand you stay for 11 night . If only it was after the first night stay than our team offer you upgrading that's mean the upgrading fee for 10 nights for only USD 400 to a Villa then it's only USD 40 Net per night which is relatively quite a good deal for a Villa .

* It is true that our distances to the airport is relatively quite close ( in fact we are the closest hotel from the airport in Bali , it is approx 1Km ).

* DVD issue : Actually, our DVD is based on request from client to one of our Team at the Front Desk.

* The swiimming pool is cleaned at 06:00 pm on daily basis and we measure the water's PH

Again, we appreciate all your feedback and ensure that we are improving our selves continuously to be able to exceed our client's satisfaction.

Last but not least , to avoid misunderstanding because of our distant to airport, our client hardly hear the noise from the plane during landing or taking off.

Kind regards,

Askar DG KAMIS
Director of Sales & Marketing.

We stayed at the Patra for 8 nights/ 9 days with my husband and 3 children (14, 10 and 7), my sister's family (2 kids, 5 and 2), my parents and my brother and sister (both single). The kids had a wonderful time in the pool, and the 2 girls enjoyed the kids club. The adults took full advantage of the pool bars, and the lounge bar later in the evening. Breakfast offered a good variety of Western and traditional food, we tended to have a big breakfast and not bother with lunch. The meals at the resort were good, but expensive, so after the 1st night, we walked 5-10 minutes down the beach path and took the 1st street to the right to a place called the Green Garden- good food very reasonably priced.

To get into Kuta we walked down the beach path (about 15-20 minutes), or took a taxi (around 10 minutes and about 15,000 IDR -very cheap!), or took the resort shuttle.

The rooms were well presented and furnished, and kept immaculately clean. We had 2 deluxe suites on the ground floor, directly across from each other. The boys slept in one, and our daughter had a roll away bed in the lounge area of our room. Inter connecting rooms or a 2 bedroom apartment would have been more suitable for us, but what we had worked ok.

All in all, an enjoyable holiday, I would happily return to the Patra and recommend to friends, particularly those with families.
