“Time for a change my old friends”
Reviewed November 5, 2013

I have been staying at this hotel for the past 29 years. All of the staff are absolutely fantastic and will do anything to make your stay memorable. They have a new General Manager who is rude towards his staff. Unfortunately the smiles you get from the staff now are forced ones. If you leave your towel unattended for 30 minutes, you lose your chair. A bit silly, considering you may be dinning at their restaurants or having a drink at the bar. Maintenance is required around the pool to get rid of oils stains and they need more umbrellas for shade. Time to change to a smaller boutique hotel.
First time travellers will enjoy this hotel, because it is so close to everything.

Room Tip: The poolside rooms are the best, but the bathrooms are starting to look a bit tired. It's time t...

Dear Allan Monks,

We thank you for your comments on Trip Advisor. Yes, we have some wonderful staff here who have worked with for a long time, and have fostered close affinity with our repeaters. This is a wonderful experience for the guest and staff.
As we go along, some of these staff have left us for newer pastures. Fresh staff have and joined and it will take some time to build a relationship. We are constantly training our staff to improve our services.
Our Pools are frequently used by all guests from the early morning till sundown. To be fair to all our guests, a regulation has been introduced to disallow guests "reserving " lounge chairs
when they are not occupying it physically, thus depriving the other guests who want to use it.
We can be flexible by even extending it 45 minutes, but holding on to it when the person is away shopping or on a tour for a few hours is being inconsiderate to others. Lets be fair to others too. This is a common practice in all the hotels, unless where the hotels is renting out the pool chairs.
Our pool attendants are daily doing a wash down on the fringes of the pool to ensure the cleanliness. Yes, we are putting in more umbrellas to cater for all. Your positive comments will spur to improve our services, and we certainly would like to welcome you back to the Ramayana where you have visiting for the last 29 years.
Once again, Thank You.

Warm regards,

We recently stayed at The Ramayana in October this year.

We found it to be in a very good position for shopping and restaurants.

The room was pretty basic, it was called a garden view but was mainly situated near a wall with some plants in it. Although saying this it was very clean and housekeeping always made sure it was always stocked up with supplies such as toilet paper and towels. Our bed was also a tad on the hard side, but big!

Next time we will request the pool side cottages as these looked very nice.

The main thing we liked so much about The Ramayana is the staff! Everyone was extra nice and couldn't have been more helpful.

The pool /barman was called Bogart. He went out of his way to make us very comfortable, he was always polite and made us feel like he was happy for us to be there. He always had a smile on his face and a friendly attitude.

Breakfast was very good with a wide range of different foods. And they make a delicious balinese style pizza which we had as room service at 11pm!

We were booked on an early flight so the assistant manager kindly offered to make us a takeaway breakfast box each for a 6am travel to the airport! It was much appreciated!!

We met some elderly people who had been coming for over 20 years!!

Definitely worth a look!!

We arrived at 3am to be greeted by a cheerful helpful reception crew who had us settled in no time, and the holiday just got better. The breakfast buffet was exceptional catering for both the Asian and Western Palates, supported by a range of fruits and salads, assorted pastries and a courteous friendly happy staff. The restaurants are excellent and the cuisine first class, the chicken curry that was served is the best we have eaten in Asia where we have been visiting since the 1970s. The manager Mr Bani seemed to be every where, attending to his guests needs and comforts with kindness and courteous friendship that made one feel a welcome part of the family. The hotel is situated in one of the best positions in Kuta, with easy access to all the popular spots, beaches shops and entertainment venues. Transport is on the door step with access to the rest of the Island a breeze. The hotel is a little aged but still very comfortable, with wonderful pool and garden areas. Being so close to all the action can be a little noisy, but settles down around the witching hour, if you want quiet; a room on the pool side is perfect.
Thankyou Ramayana , we will be back.

We stayed at the Poolside Cottage 2nd floor the steps are a bit narrow but having said that the view was beautiful, the cleaners cleaned the room every day when I put the sign out and I must say even found my missing tablet, the Gabbagh restaurant was quite nice with a pizza at around AU 7 dollars for two and other main meals reasonable priced, if you get a free meal be sure to ask for the delight menu then present the voucher as the same meals are on other menus. We enjoyed the sports bar with good value meals.Pool was cold and closed at 8.30pm but we could go in for a late night dip after the chlorine had settled and was fine as long as we were quiet. The spa was a delight a tad more then the outside massage but very good. The breakfast was varied for different tastes but we enjoyed our bacon and eggs you have to ask for the bacon as its behind the counter, so as not to offend i guess. The kuta markets across the road and a deli that has an ATM and cold iontang wine and vodka cruisers for sale, which we could take to our room, so all in all I cant fault it.

Room Tip: The poolside are the only option for a quiet night, the street side is crazy lol.Pool view rooms are...

My fiance and I stayed in Seminyak, however my parents stayed here and we were at Ramayana daily to visit them and I felt I had to write a review.
We wished we had of stayed here. It was a fantastic hotel with great facilities. There were 2 pools, a pool bar with yummy cocktails, a spa which looked quite reasonably priced, so many restaurants to choose from to eat and a lovely room.
My parents stayed in an executive deluxe room for around AUD $60 a night. this included breakfast daily, 2 free meals during their 8 night stay, a 15% discount at the spa and a free professional photo of them taking anywhere around the resort.
We swam at their hotel and the pool was beautiful (deep for children, over our heads however there was a shallow part of it to the side and the second pool which we didnt swim in may have been shallow). we had drinks and food in the main restaurant there which were great. the mocktails were beautiful and cold. we also ate at the sports bar type restaurant just near the pool (Cant remember name but the staff were short orange uniforms) and this was nice but not as good as main place.
the Room was nice, bathroom fairly basic but tidy. the bed was very comfy and there was a flat screen tv. they had a balcony which overlooked the pool and was good.
When we left visiting my parents, the security would always assist us with getting a cab. On the day we checked out of our hotel (midday) we didnt fly out till midnight and went to Ramayana to visit my parents and they allowed us to leave our luggage in mum and dads room.
This hotel was SO close to everything. just around the corner from main shopping area, 5 mins walk from beach and hardrock hotel, so many restaurants to choose from. Would def stay here if we visited again.

The only request I have is,could they sell Corona Beer at the Poolside Bar...I would definitely recommend this Hotel,in fact we are coming back in April 2014.

Thank you for your great review of the Ramayana Resort & Spa on Trip Advisor.

We are happy to know that you have enjoyed your stay with us. Being located in the center of Kuta, where everything is within reach -it is indeed a great place to be -

You can laze by the pool, which is surrounded by lush green gardens..away from the bustling streets. And yes you can order Corona at the Poolside Bar too, because we do sell Corona beer there beside Bintang, Heinekens etc...

Thank you again for your continuous support, we do look forward to welcoming you back to Ramayana Resort & Spa come next April..... .

Just got back from spending 7 nights at the Ramayana. It was the first time at this hotel and we chose it as we had left it too late to book into our usual hotel. First the good: friendly staff, location close to shopping, generally clean. The not so good: room was very dated and had a musty smell for the entire time of our visit, sheets were never changed on our bed despite a notice in the room stating that they would be changed at least every 3 days, cleaning staff decided for the last few days of our stay that we could do without hand towels, limited channels on the TV possibly to force you to the Sports Bar downstairs to watch sport (not great for a fan of EPL whose team was playing at 11 pm), only one key and card issued which meant that we could not go out separately without planning in advance who would be back first, breakfast ok but little variety. Would probably not stay here again unless it was just for a night or two.

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Ramayana Resort & Spa during your one week stay in Bali recently.

I am concerned that, whilst you enjoyed your stay reasonably well, there were aspects of your visit that did not meet your expectations.

We are very sorry we did not correct the issues you mentioned whilst you were staying with us. A call from you to me or to our Housekeeper would have rectified the matter.

Thank you for sparing your time in bringing this matter to our attention

We look forward to your continued patronage and to serve you better next time.
