This was not a pleasant place to stay. When checking in they tried to get us to take a twin room - not the deluxe double we'd paid for - to avoid waiting for the room to be cleaned. We then waited nearly 90mins to get into our room. No free wifi and the paid for wifi only really works in the lobby. The rooms were not very clean at all. Room service was good, but breakfast was very poor - too few tables and insufficient food. We only chose to eat one breakfast out of 3 there. And checking out was a nightmare: the demand every guest wait until the room is "checked" before being allowed to check-out. This meant a 45min wait to leave. Would strongly advise against staying here.

Straight up, this was an EXCELLENT hotel - highly recommended.

The best thing about this hotel was the location - I would say the Ramayana could literally be the very centre of the tourist districts - nestled right at the edge of Kuta and Legian, walking distance from almost everything you could want.

PROS
- Right on the main strip, markets across the road, Waterbom down the road and Legian up
- Nice, large, clean rooms
- In-room safe with en-suite
- Nice pools (more than one)
- Nice breakfast area, fronting on to the main strip but not too close as to be too noisy
- Bar and pancake house on the bottom floor, practically a part of the hotel
- Storage room for your bags if hanging around after checkout

CONS
- The safe in our room had a very annoying glitch you had to get past every time you opened it, this happened to our friend staying in a similar suite, but not our friends in the cheaper suites... in the end I guess it still did what it needed to - just annoyingly =P
- The air-conditioning in our room could have been better - it WAS in the cheaper room
- No swim up bar (I love those - shame they didn't have one)
- Spa and massages a the hotel are quite expensive - though walk 100m down the road and you can remedy that problem

Can't think of much else to say except that I would recommend this hotel for anyone. It isn't a party hotel so no loud noises keeping you awake late at night - and despite it's central location, the noises from the street don't bother you either. It is a perfect place to stay for anyone.

Room Tip: Not a lot of difference here, most rooms have the same amenities, we stayed in the Executive Deluxe room while friends stayed in the Deluxe suite - only difference was ours had an elevator, balcony and it was a little bigger, though I liked their bathroom a lot more, their safe was better and so was the air-conditioner. Don't be worried you are really missing out by going for a cheaper room here.

This hotel was only just OK. I booked online via Agoda and despite paying online etc, it was the slowest ever check in. They demanded 1 million rupiah ($AU120ish) for 1 night's bond for mini bar! I said no way and paid 500,000 instead. I tried to book another night but it was just far too difficult for the reception staff to organise despite having available rooms. I went elsewhere.

The worst part was that the floor we were on (level 4) was incredibly noisy. People walking down the hallway created a huge amount of noise due to the lack of rugs. I slept terribly.

Bathroom was disgusting for the price. Bad towels, bad hygiene around shampoo etc, shower curtain was filthy, pillowcases had stains

Room Tip: A cottage will be quieter though the pool and bar are full of noisy Aussies drinking

Great hotel in very convenient location in Kuta, Bali. Fantastic pool and restaurant area. Very friendly and helpful staff. Only 200m from beach. This was our first visit to Bali and the hotel pool area is a small oasis amidst the exotic chaos of Kuta. We really enjoyed the tourist shopping opportunities, the choice of restaurants and bars and the nearby beach. The room and bed was comfortable and amazingly quiet.

Room Tip: Choose room adjacent the local school which means the room is protected from traffic noise.

We have stayed at Ramayana many times before but haven't written a review until now, although all of our stays at Ramayana have been great our most recent deserves a special mention.

To begin with we booked directly with the Hotel with all of our emails answered promptly. Our stay was for 9 nights & after arriving with transfers to a super efficient & friendly check in we spent the first 5 nights in our interconnecting exc deluxe rooms as requested until there was a small issue with the room, after bringing It to the attention of reception we quickly packed up MOST of our things (at their request)as we were going rafting at 8am & on our return later that afternoon all of our belongings had been moved for us (packed & unpacked)with an upgrade to 2 resort rooms.Later that day we had a call from the duty manager informing us that our daughter had left her iPod touch in the room & it had been found by housekeeping she was very grateful to get it back & their honesty is to be commended.

Ramayana's location is fantastic with the beach, shop's,markets & many restaurants & attractions within walking distance.
All of the staff are very friendly from housekeeping to management.

All hotels like any business face problems at one time or another it's how they respond & rectify them that is a true measure of their professionalism.

Thank you to Wayan & all of your staff once again for a great Stay
