After eating mostly tourist food in Bali, we were crawing for something authentic food, preferably with good sambal.

We are Indonesian Muslim family, and when it comes to looking for halal food in Bali is a bit hard.

This restaurant is the perfect choice for us, because it serves halal food (though they offer some beers). And most importantly, it has a good reputation also in our hometown (Jakarta). So when we went there, we knew exactly what to expect (from the food & the service).

They give complimentary first glass of (mineral) water. So if you are thinking to have mineral water for drink, don't order. I ended up with 4 glasses of water plus 4 bottles of mineral water :D

The restaurant was spacious. The interior was also nice. Some antiques were displayed. Semi open space with a few air conditioners at the corners, but as we went there for dinner, we have no problems with it.

If you are looking for authentic Indonesian food, and want to be "safe" (regarding the taste & quality), I definitely recommend this place.

Great place to bring guest from overseas or just a place to hang with your family. Ambience is great, music is javanese music and it's quite low so we can still talk among ourselves. Love the foods, pesmol gurame and their fried gurame are the best. Make a reservation first if you come with more than 10 peps just to ensure they prepare the table for you.

More an Asian haunt increasingly popular with the Chinese tourists. We go there only for the Gurame fish and soup ekor which are excellent but certainly not the best restaurant around because there is no WiFi, which is puzzling because places usually get promoted through people updating their Facebook locations. So we go there and get out as quickly as possible. The toilets can do with upgrading because of customer traffic and you get much better standards elsewhere. As it's located near the airport we visit this place only twice each trip: upon arriving and before leaving Bali. During our stay we have exclusive non touristy proper dining places to enjoy our meals at and wouldn't think of visiting this restaurant.

Pondok Tempo Doeloe serve good local Indonesian food. There are variety of different dishes and most of them very delicious.
Prices are reasonable and the place is Clean
