I got a great rate for the hotel so decided to give it a go, knowing it's not beach front but taxis are dirt cheap in Bali. Most trips to the beach should cost you less than 20K rupiah.
I cannot praise the staff at the hotel enough. They were always welcoming and friendly. Most of the staff seemed quite young, and I suppose that part of the harris persona to be young and fun.
My room was a decent size. Had the 1BR, but I'd call it a studio as you don't have a seperate bedroom. I really liked the small balcony, though wish it had been a bit bigger so they could put a chair out there. The weather wasn't too hot so it was nice to have the sliding door open and not run the aircon all the time.
2 negatives for the room - safe and mini fridge were broken. Not an issue for me, but seemed the hotel is not keeping up with maintenance issues in the rooms too well.
The pool area is quite nice. There is a lack of sun lounges though and don't expect to do much tanning there. Between the buildings and trees you don't get a lot of sun, but it's a great area to sit and read a book. The wadding pool seemed popular with families in the afternoon.
I had a few meals at the restaurant and the service was fast and food tasty. It's not cheap, but not expensive either. Breakfast was a good deal at 60K, though some of the hot food was a bit ordinary at times.
If you stay here you have to try Sushi Tei which is just out front. It looks expensive but is quite reasonably priced. There's also a good indonesian resto to the right of Sushi tei on Sunset Rd.
The downside to the location of the hotel is there's not much around it. Unless you want to eat dinner at the hotel best to eat before returning.
Not sure if I'd stay at this hotel again. The benefit of being away from all the action is the hotel is nice and quiet, but I did miss being able to just go out for a walk and do stuff. Taxis are cheap so it's not really an issue, more convenience I suppose. I might give the Harris Kuta Beach a go next trip if they have a reasonable rate.
