We stayed 3 nights in the Kubu and really enjoyed the place. The staff was very friendly and the location is just great within the night life area and not far from the beach. The pool is not the greatest but good enough to cool down. The room was big enough with a private balcony and ensuite bathroom. Breakfast is included, but do not expect too much, but there is a great warung around the corner serving yummi Nasi Campur all day.

Room Tip: We had a room in 3rd floor westwing, which got lot of sun in the morning heating up the room. Room i...

the best thing about this place is that while you are in the heart of kuta; you can sleep any time of the day or night without any drunkards shoutings or motor bikes making a lot of noise.
rooms are clean and there is a swimming pool too. however the breakfast which is included is just too modest.

We have been in Kuta for an entire week and at this place we were extremely comfy all the time.
The Girls at the reception are lovely and the room is clean and very Fresh with the AC. The toilette the same!.
The pool was the Best part, and at night that zone is very quiet but you can go walking to the Main street and it takes less tan 5 minutes.

The breakfast is a bit poor but enough, and the old marriage that do the laundry in front of the hotel are even better, lovely people in Kuta, no doubt.

I will come back to this place!.

I would say The Kubu hotel was nice and clean it had friendly people and is a reasonable price
along with wifi, swimming pool and breakfast.
Its also not too far away from the good restaurants and the main street,
they have been resently building more rooms which are a bit bigger then the present ones, I look forward to seeing what it looks like next year.

Room Tip: maybe look at the rooms available just incase you don't like it.

Clean, simple, fairly well kept newish rooms and sheets with small 'wet room' style ensuite bathrooms. Is situated 5-10 minutes walk down Poppies II to Kuta beach. All rooms (in the new hotel) have balconies overlooking the pool which get glorious sun in the morning up until early afternoon, and very comfortable mattress beds. Breakfast is a simple scrambled egg 'jaffle' (toastie for the uninitiated) with a couple of slices of watermelon and eye opening Bali coffee, better than nothing but might leave bigger eaters feeling a bit hungry in the morning. Pool is lovely and cool from mid afternoon onwards for a cool down. Noise from the nearby Engine Room club (visible from the balconies) might bother you but it's not unbearable (we were hardly here to party into the early hours of the morning), just bring ear plugs and all is fine. Fan (wall mounted) room was perfect for keeping us cool at night, no need for A/C. Room was cold water only but again in the Bali heat, not a problem (and in fact was quite often lukewarm anyway).

We stayed in this hotel twice (4 nights and 12 nights) during our stints in Kuta during high season in August. We are backpacking and couldn't afford the high end hotels. After staying in another hotel in Kuta and viewing many other losmen type accomodations in the area we decided to return here as it was a little bit more comfortable and included a pool and breakfast for similar prices (peak season is 200k, normally 175k, but negotiable to 150k if staying longer as we did on our 2nd stint). We stayed in a double room on the 3rd floor both times.

The receptionists are extremely helpful and enthusiastic especially if you join in with a sense of humour! The few guys working there are quiet but always helpful. As with most things in Bali the staff are very laid back and occasionally need a bit of prompting (cleaning rooms, giving towels etc.) but are always willing to help. There is also a very conveniently (and cheap) mini mart and laundrette directly across the road.

Room Tip: Stay in the 'new' hotel for the newer rooms (used to be Kubu I and II).

I am really shocked by these previous reviews. We stayed here twice in mid July 2013 either side of visiting the Gili islands. The first time we stayed the place was undergoing renovation works in the building opposite and the rest of the hotel was receiving a new lick of paint. The first experience was still great and the staff literally couldnt do enough for us. From bringing us fresh towels everyday to booking transport and taking and collecting our laundry (which was ludicrously cheap).
When we stayed the 2nd time, after the Gili islands. The place was refurbished and in great condition, the decking was renewed and the new rooms were all ready and looking good. This place was a real gem and a great find on our limited budget.
The only negative would be that the pool is small and doesnt get good sun. We visited a hotel up the street call Suji Bungalows for the pool and sun beds. Which only costs about $3
**Please remember that Kuta is a party place and if you're looking for peace and quiet i suggest you go to Seminyak**
Overall, the rooms were clean, the air con was good in both the rooms we stayed in and the location was great. I would definitely re-visit. Thanks again!

I stayed in this hotel for 7 nights in January 2013. I paid 175k / night. The location is just great. It's in the Poppies area. The pool is quite nice. My room was on the 3rd floor, every room has a balcony.
The breakfast is very simple : toast, strawberry jam, watermelon, and coffee / tea.
It's quite noisy at night because the hotel is near night clubs and bars. So, for travellers who want to escape from all those noises, don't stay in this hotel. But, for budget travellers who don't mind loud music from the clubs, it's a pretty good hotel.
