“Great Value for Money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 13, 2010

We stayed in a Studio room which is pretty much just a hotel room, it was clean, spacious, flat screen TV, full size fully stocked fridge, tea & coffee making facilities, balcony that overlooked the pools, freezing air cond, great location with so many shops and restaurants on your doorstep, staff where very friendly and helpful and good english skills, tour desk was most helpful, exchange rate was reasonable, free wifi, great food cafe/restaraunt also a nice sports bar, awesome vodka slushies, room service was great, had a basic but adequate aircond gym, we where next to the road and didnt get too much rd noise, breaky was very basic order off the menu but if you dont mind paying an extra $ or 2 then you can add plenty of extras, overall we loved the place and would highly recommend it, for $60 p/n in Bali these days you cant even stay at a really basic place, Only thing we missed was a swim up pool bar but the new section they are building will have that and staff did walk around the pool area regularly to take drinks or food orders.

This was our second stay at the KTH, and once again we were not dissapointed. These Townhouses are great value for your dollar. The location is right in ther heart of Kuta, situated between popular Poppies 1 & 2. The staff are exceptionly friendly, and always make you feel welcome, nothing is too hard for them. The rooms are very spacious, our room this time round being in stage 1 (Superior) 2 bedroom room, our first stay in 2009 was in stage 2, same style room, both rooms were great, so it doesn't matter whether you are in stage 1 or 2, you wont be disapointed. We believe this place is ideal for couples as well as families, as this was the mix during our stay, and all sem to be enjoying themselves.

We have stayed at Kuta townhouses 4 times now and this will be the last time. Our other friends warned us that the last time a group of them stayed they were disappointed and wouldn't be coming back but I didn't listen. We saved to stay 3 weeks here and now we are so disappointed that we are spending this much time in the one place. The quality of this hotel for couples is no longer value for money. There are cheaper and just as nice hotels in Kuta/Legian. This place may be good value for families we don't really know. We are in a studio room that either needs a good clean or it is time for refurbishment. Cleaning of room is erractic. Sometimes early other times late but only after telling them several time that the room needs to be cleaned. The shower is filled with mildew and only needs to be wiped down with bleach to bring back its cleanliness. Other reviews are accurate about shower, water going everywhere, fruit flies etc. We also come here for the free wifi in room and english pay TV for when we are relaxing. The pay TV has been down for the last three nights and no one can tell us when it will be fixed or seems to care. Pools are both nice but you must be early to get a lounge bed if the place is busy. Breakfast is the same as any cheap hotel. Choice of basic meals but they taste good. The reception and catering staff are all lovely. Sorry to say over all Kuta Town house is looking tired and needs to teach their cleaners how to clean or they will keep losing customers.

We stayed here based on the relatively glowing reviews earlier - i only wish I'd read the one just before this which was posted after I made the booking - and I read following my return from the trip.

First off - you are going to have to walk places but places are close - it's a quick hop to Jalan Legian, and there's quick shortcut to Kuta Square via a small alley that comes out next to Made's Warung. This is because there are no cabs coming in. Ever.

This is the only plus side of the hotel.

When we checked in, the bed under the sheets were sandy - and we had to sleep on top of the cover. There were also henna flakes all over the floor that left brown smudges. Cleanliness is dubious.

We stayed in a studio - the room is basic and cheaply furnished, beds, dresser table and thin, dark plywood furniture. Huge sized fridge stocked full of beer. Bathroom is small and relatively cramped - with shower stall. Also, late at night, there is little to no hot water - the use solar heaters with little backups. It was one of the most horrible things - coming home after a lovely massage only to have to shower in cold water which is useless for getting the massage oil off.

Fan and AC do a good job, and the sheets are Ok - just that they looked like they came from someone's house.

The wireless internet was also complete bunk rubbish. It was slower than a pope dealing with pedophile priests and access for idevices was impossible - flash based login. You literally had to count to 10 for facebook to load.

Next, breakfast is awful. Just awful. Eggs on toast, a fruit bowl. The juices are from cordial, not even tetra pak juices. As the previous reviewer pointed out, you have to pay extra for bacon and beans. And if you arrive 15 minutes before the 8011 am start time.

Calling a cab will take about 20 minutes because cab drivers don't know where the place is.
Also, the front desk is not 24 hours. So if you leave early, you have to settle the day before, which we did. However, no note was left with the night guard who demanded that we show our deposit slip and receipt. I'm organised and I have all the receipts in one place on my bag - but to anyone else who's less so, can you imagine the hassle?

Missing is the Balinese charm that was throughout the rest of the hotels. Architecturally and service wise. The "Geelong forever" Aussie non-rugby-non-football jersey on the wall should give you a clue.

The townhouse is great if you are used to ratty Australian motels or a Bogan. Or both. It's a motel and at that price in Kuta, go to Poppies 2 or any number of immeasurably more charming places..

Screw the bad pool with no greenery or grounds, sit at Oceans 27 or Ku De Ta or even on the beach for the rest of the day.

Stay at poppies or any number of better hotels. For the price, very bad value.

This was a great location if you wanted to be near the beach and shopping in Kuta. The rooms were dirty. On arrival an extra bed was brought to the room, when other furniture was moved to fit the bed there was bits of food and rubbish under the furniture which the employees picked up and put in their pockets. Room cleaning consisted of basically putting fresh towels in the bathroom. The breakfast wasn't the best, you had to pay extra for bacon and baked beans. The live-in residents did not like children playing or making a noise in the pool area, old western men would scream from their balcony down to the children's parents to ask to keep their children quiet. On departure we were given a telephone invoice to pay which were made to Indonesian numbers. We had not made one phone call using the room phone as we all had our own mobile phones. An MP3 player was stolen from the room, although that was my fault for not putting it in the safe.

We stayed 11 nights at Kuta Townhouses, it is tucked between Poppies I and Poppies II and a short walk to Legian St. A great location position to walk to Waterbom, beach and shopping. We stayed in a "Superior" two bedroom apartment on the 2nd floor which overlooked the pool. The room was clean A/C worked well in Lounge and Bedroom 1, Bedroom 2 A/C wasnt working but it didnt bother the kids, overhead ceiling fans in all rooms worked well. Nice big balcony overlooking the pool area, pleasant view. The apartments are serviced and housekeeping calls quite early so if you sleep in put the "do not disturb" sign out. Kitchen has a microwave, kettle, reasonable size fridge, and dining table. The free unlimited Wireless Internet in the room was great. The Restaurant provides a selection of aussie and Bali food, the staff were lovely, plenty of restaurants nearby including the lovely TJ's Mexican in Poppies I.

KTH is located in a very small lane that can be reached by cars but very difficult for taxi's to access if during busy shopping times as they have to go down Poppies I. Taxi's prefer to drop off on Legian or near Bemo Corner which was fine with us, not far to walk. A short (zig zag) walk up the lane opposite the KTH entrance takes you to Legian St, left goes straight to Poppies II. The laundry over the road is good and cheap, 3 kg for 21000 RP, which is under $3. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

We stayed at the townhouses for Christmas and New Year of 2009/2010. We were with another family and we had 5 kids between us. Luckily for us we managed to snag a ground floor 1 bedroom apartment which made our stay even more enjoyable. Our friends werent so lucky getting stuck with a 3rd floor apartment. Our apartment was right by the lap pool so it was 5 steps out the front door into the pool. Our boys were 7 and 10 so this was perfect as we could sit on the courtyard and watch them in the pool. The room was clean and had a fold out lounge which the boys slept on. The staff were friendly and food was great and cheap. Loved the 2 for 1 slushy happy hour YUMMO!! The towels were clean and smelt fresh and they were always happy to change them for you. The gym was well equipt and there are lifts for those unlucky ones that dont score a ground floor room. The owner is an Aussie and always happy to help. There is a laundry right out the front a scooter hire shop and internet place even though the hotel offers free WIFI. There are larger TV screens in the cafe/resturant area for those sports fans. The hotel has a pram to use free of charge which was good I took it once to put my shopping in !!!. If you walk out the front of the hotel and turn left about 100m down on your left are 2 fantastic warungs serving great food and drink at unbelievable prices. The only 1 downside to this perfect hiden gem would be that it is VERY difficult to get taxis as the laneways are very narrow and hard for taxis to access. It is only a 5 min walk to Legian Street down back alleys so thats the best way to go. Luckily enough my husband and I hired scooters and put the boys on the back so we didnt have to worry with taxis to often. I would recommend this hotel to singles, couples and families with children over 6 that are happy to walk out to the main street to get a taxi. Whilst this hotel is family friendly it is not family orientated. Being a frequent traveller to Bali I would say that this is 1 of my favourite places to stay for the price that you pay. Will definatley return again and again.
