“Great place to stay”
Reviewed January 20, 2010

Check in was a breeze, our room was clean and spacious and the grounds are absolutely stunning. Everything is well designed and the staff were helpful and friendly. The only bad thing was that whenever I tried to book into the spa, it was fully booked out!

My boyfriend and I arrived Christmas Day 2009 and spent new years in Bali. Our room was old and the bathroom was pretty gross with mould and when you shower the water takes an hour to go down the drain so you have to shower in ankle deep water haha, anyways our double bed was old and caved in a V in the middle which made cuddling real hard as we were basically sandwiched. The room had a great air-conditioning system and was on the ground floor with a balcony which was nice. Ok other than that the Bali Garden has a awesome pool area well 3 pools actually - we never really found it to hard to find a sun lounge as previous reviews had said it was hard. The food at the Boardwalk restaurant next to the pool is fantastic, we found the food was fresh and tasty ( try the Gnocchi in Cream and Pesto sauce - totally awesome or the Chicken Pesto Pizza) The Waru Batan which is at the front of the resort and the Japanese restaurant right behind it all belong to the Hotel and the food here is also awesome and cheap. I found Bali in general just don’t know how to make cocktails, so after a week I got over beer, spirits are about the same as you would pay in Oz so bring some from Duty Free. The breakfast is great and the staff are fantastic, one young lady just loved smiling even at 7am - amazing she was lovely. The cook has a stand were you can order eggs any way inc omelettes and the best BANANA Pancakes, although after a week of cooked breakfast I would have loved a bowl of cereal (no cereals) If you are a fan of BBQ sauce or Vegemite take some with you as they do not have this, most aussies had brought there own. The Transport people out the front of the hotel are a rip off, BLUEBIRD taxis are clearly labelled and are the cheapest and safest in Bali, they work on a metre system and the Tariff starts at 5000rp ($1 aussie) cheap as chips. If you need money exchanged be very cautious the best place to go are the KODAK stores they offer no commissions, have a great exchange rate and give you a receipt which allows you to count the money prior to leaving. The closest one to the hotel is just before the Dynasty and past the big shopping centre like 400m, well signed cant miss it, on the right side of the road. If you get your money changed at the hotel the rate is so much less than what it should be so defiantly worth finding the KODAK shops. Anyways, we will stay here again once renovations are complete. This place has a lot going for it.

As many people have already mentioned the rooms (especially bathrooms) are badly in need of renovation. Having also stayed in this hotel a few years ago it is clear that all of the renovation money has been spent on the pool, bar and restaurant though as these are fantastic.

The location of the hotel is also one of it's biggest selling points. Right next to Kartika Plaza (major shopping centre) and in front of the Waterbom Park and right on the beach. It is right in the heart of everything in Kuta!

We stayed for 7 nights and we were in room 355. We were disapointed as the room is definately in need of renovating. The bathroom had a smell of sewerage coming up from the sink constantly. Rust stains in the bath itself. Towels were sometimes really white and brand new and then other days it was like you felt you were drying yourself with a old grey towel. There is a dead lizard in the light fixture in the bathroom. There was no view from our balcony whatsoever, except trees. The second last night before leaving a rowdy couple of people decided that they would like to speak and carry on in the front of our room and have kids screaming at 12.30 which we thought was very inconsiderate. The positive was the bar area. Young girl behind the bar was very helpful and friendly to all. The Massage place is also recommendable for the price.

We only chose to stay at this hotel as we already had friends staying there and thought it would be easier. I had kept an eye on the reviews leading up to our trip and as a result, I actually changed our booked to another hotel for the last four days of our trip.
The pool area and resturant are beautiful and our kids (4 and 1) loved the pool, food and staff (at the resturant). However, whilst the bedrooms are basic, the bathrooms were DISGUSTING! We stayed in a family room (106) on the ground floor, facing the sling shot, which wasn't too bad as we had a high wall out the front. Like I said, the rooms were basic, but clean and the air con worked very well. But the bathrooms were dirty, stinky and leaked everywhere. I did not feel comfortable washing our children in the shower and actually complained - which got us nothing but bad service from the front desk staff who just didnt care. I'm so glad we decided to move when our friends left otherwise the Bali Garden would have ruined our trip. If they just renovated their rooms, this would be one of the best hotels on the strip.
On a positive note - the Boardwalk resturant was by far one of the best value for money we found!

Bali Garden was clean, friendly, great service, food, drinks and had lots of tourist information available. The only let down was our room location , second floor rooms 201 and 202, we were directly across the road from the sling shot ride that was very popular at night times. So we heard screams through the night until it closed. With 4 kids it was a little disruptive.Even though they are rennovating it didn't interfere in any way wiht the running of this hotel.

Have stayed at this hotel twice but not again. The rooms are dark and in need of major renovation. Beds are uncomfortable. Recent renovations to the pool area (additional new pool) are great but tends to be a bit noisy with too many small children. Breakfast very ordinary.
