First went here in the 80's and loved it then. It's still the best. The food is fab, the people gorgeous and atmosphere wonderful. I'll go back each time till it closes or I do.

Tucked away in Poppies lane. This is a hidden jem. The food is great and not expensive. The staff are helpful and attentive. The nasi gorang is one of the best i have had.

Disappointed ! Terrible Service quality from this restaurant.
We never visit again.
Attached is my receipt to prove this is real review!

Follow the nice review from Tripadvisor to this restaurant just 2 days before. But the experience is bad!

The waitress give us a very dirty and narrow seat for us. Before that, we still think maybe due to full booking and no reservation. But few guests (All from europe or foreigner) after us joining this restaurant, all given good seating and they also couple as us with no reservation. Only the different is we are CHINESE and they are not.

Then we found out that are lot of seats in this restaurant available in this restaurant. We really wonder why the waitress gave us this poor seats. From the face of waitress, I can feel they look down on us and not really want to serve us. But we still order the famous Fisherman's Basket.

The food (Fisherman's Basket) is very normal. Maybe due to we suffer in this kind of services and environment.

I tried at least 12 restaurants in Bali in my 4 days trip. This is the worst and almost ruin my thinking about Bali! Never ever step in again !

Thank you for your review. There are several things in it that I must take issue with:

1) First and foremost, we could not have maintained a successful and famous restaurant serving travellers to Bali from all over the world for the past 40 years if our staff had any racist attitudes - it is patently absurd to suggest this. We even have Chinese staff, as well as Balinese.

2) We have no narrow seats and certainly no dirty ones, and all are of identical construction.

3) We reserve the right to offer any of our seats to any of our diners. There are no poor seats. All are nice.

4) We are very pleased to serve all nationalities. All are our bread and butter.

Thank you.

We were surprised at the entrance here... a little gap in the wall. But what a treat when you go in, set in a garden atmosphere with little streams and bridges and the tables in leafy surroundings. Service was good, prices reasonable and food was excellent. The second time we ate here we had the Rice Table, and cannot recommend this enough. You get LOADS and it is all really really good. An outstanding meal.

This is always our first stop in Bali for dinner. The place is nice and relaxing in a quiet little area off Poppies lane from the hustle of Kuta. The staff are always friendly and remember you from previous years. The garlic bread is a must for our family. The satays on there special little holders with the hot coals are excellent. We never have had a bad meals and always tell our friends it is a must when they are in Bali.
