“Good choice”
Reviewed June 3, 2010

Was there for two nights in May 2010. Stay in 301, the room is very big. it is clean.
Mix fruit juice is nice but overall the breakfast was below average. After "breakfast" at Masa Inn, then walk to Mc Donald for "more" breakfast.

Recommend this hotel because the room is clean.

We have stayed twice in Masa Inn, first time in 2007 and again in 2010. We live in East Timor and many expatriates living here use Masa Inn. We had a family room which was a little dark but everything very comfortable, gardens are very beautiful and pool is clean. Because the cost is good you need to book in advance specially for famiies. After staying in other areas we found Masa Inn not so good for children, there is a bit of walking for small ones and the gang is too narrow, we really have to keep the kids near us all the time. This last time we were ther only for a night as we were going to Thailand on the next morning. We had a triple room and the single bed is wide enough for two children. It is good value hotel, we would go back again but it is not usually or first choice if staying longer.

Despite our wishes, we had to spend one night in Kuta. Of all the hotels we researched in this budget price range, this seemed to be the best. The grounds are beautiful and the pools were very clean. Staff was very kind and helpful. Most importantly:

(1) there was no sewer smell coming from the toilet as other tourists have mentioned about other budget hotels.

(2) the shower is actually separate in a tub so the toilet doesnt get wet during a shower. However, our shower leaked so the floor did get wet.

(3) The A/C worked just fine for us.

However, there were mosquitoes in the room. We burned a mosquito coil when we went to sleep so we didn't get bitten and it worked just fine. The bathroom does have some mold, but it's not too bad.

we have just come back from our 5 days holiday n Bali and stayed in Masa inn, Kuta. As we wanted to stay in Kuta and not too expensive- after many hours on the internet Masa inn looked like a good choice . and we were not disappointed! good size rooms, brilliant location, very quiet, nice pool and good breakfast. only thing to moan about is the showers ( bit old) but can't expect 5 star if staying in budget hotel. very friendly staff, clean place...we have 3 kids (12,8,50 and they all loved it!
also- very good at getting back to you when e-mailing them... called me regarding the booking in matter of hours!!!

We stayed here for a week in march and then travelled to Ubud and Lovina for a week and then back to Masa for another 5 nights.
It was all about location for us. We love to eat at all the cheap eats in poppies 1.
We love to be near the beach and also to Kuta square.
if we came out of hotel and walked left we would hit beach road. Turned right and we would hit bemo corner. Easy to head out.
Hotel had 2 pools. We had the font pool as thats where the triple rooms are.
Myself, husband and our 15 year old.
Spacious rooms, best air con in Bali. Comfy large beds.
The rooms were cleaned very well. Towels being changed every second day, as it should be to help save the planet.
In room safes which was very convenient.
Shower over bath so you could have either.
The first room (138) toilet flushed well, The second room (140), it didn't.
I would have liked a full length mirror, but thats not a problem.
No tea and Coffee, but we took our own immerser and mugs. They washed them each day for us.
Pools were sparkling and scrubbed and cleaned each day.
gardens were immaculate and lovely to sit in.
Tv had 60 chanels and was clear reception.
Reception staff were lovely and the security man helped me on 2 occasions, without hesitation. (cockroach in my bed side drawer lol and noisy people above at 2am).
Pool closes at midnight which they were strict on thankfully. Enough time to swim after dinner but without being woken.
Breakfast was small but enough to get started.
Funnily enough, you can have a plate of fruit or a fruit juice with either an omlet, a jaffle or a banana pancake.
But with the omlette, you also got 2 pieces of toast and butter and jam. So that being the most filling.....is what we tended to order.
The drivers out the front were great and we used young ketut a number of times. Very very good driver and loads of fun.
The triple rooms have been renovated, whereas the double and twin have not, but they are all completely adequate and you must remember that this hotel (even though large) is budget.
In the lane there is laundries (Dannys was 7000rp per kilo) and internets 12 000rp per hour. Massage places (serene on poppies, suzy Q to name just 2) were 50 000rp.
Cheap eats, nusah indah, bali agung, bamboo corner, Treehouse, Tom Yum, Basil leaves to mae just a few.
So for location, great staff and large rooms and price, we will be staying there again.
I hope they do not put the price up again though as then i would like to see things like tea and coffee in rooms and larger breakfasts.

This may be the best cheap hotel in Kuta. Two ex-pats I met there said so. It's about half way up Poppies 1 laneway.

I paid 225,000 per night on my own for an upstairs room near the back pool (about $26 AUD per night). There was 2 king single beds. Rooms come with a portable clothes airer that was really handy. Mine was always on the balcony drying my towels and shorts. They don’t mind you leaving it out there. The grounds are very Bali - neat, green and relaxing. The pools were clean and large. No spa. No swim up bar, but you can take your own drinks to the pool.

The rooms and bathroom are old but clean. The TV is a little high up on the wall, but perfect for watching DVDs while lying in bed. No DVD player, no kettle, no shower soaps. There is a safe. Bathroom sink had lots of space to store stuff.

At the hotel entrance in Poppies 1 laneway, there is a laundry service, a DVD store where DVD player rental is 30,000 per day, several internet cafes, massage lounges, cheap cafes and Kwiki-marts. Perfect! (There are also the more expensive cafes and bars if you prefer). Sunset on Kuta beach is about a 5 minute walk away- although I always took the motorbike as it was so hot! The legian nightclub strip is about a 5-10 min walk away.

I hired a motorbike from one of the security guards and his mate across the laneway has a 7 seater car and only charged me 50,000 to take me to the airport. The staff were friendly and they always recognised me to give me my room key - no questions ever asked. Breakfast was toasted sandwiches/eggs/pancakes with fresh juice and stays open til 11am.

There's no private balcony, the entrance to the rooms is via the balcony terrace. The window curtain does not cover up the top part of the window, so morning light and neighboring balcony night lights do stream thru, but this wasnt an issue for me.
Great hotel for the price. I will stay here again.
