The Jamahal is very different from the other massive five-star resorts sprawled across Bali. While the others have more facilities and space, we discovered the Jamahal is all about privacy, relaxation and personalized service.
Luckily, we booked a package which included massages and dinners as otherwise we would have missed out on some very good dinners and massage treatments, trying other local spots instead.
We stayed seven days and one of the highlights for us was the private butler service and an excellent a la carte breakfast every morning ... even after seven days we weren't sick of the fresh fruit juices, fresh fruit platters and great local coffee and fresh homemade ginger teas. Nothing was ever too much trouble for our great butlers (especially Mr Gun and Mr Eke) who always made time to meet our needs, with a smile and a warm good morning and always time for a personal chat. That's something you won't find in the larger resorts! The staff was one of the highlights for me - they are very professional and many of them have worked overseas or on cruise ships ... they're very clued in on guest needs and the local culture and sights. We appreciated the great service here even more after visiting other hotels in Bali where the service and quality of food was far inferior to that of the Jamahal.
There's not a huge choice of food on the daily dinner/lunch menu but this means it is freshly prepared and we enjoyed fresh fish and good steaks - a mixture of local and international dishes. The spa is also not huge but the treatments, especially the Balinese and Jamahal massage were both excellent.
Was worth the upgrade to the pool villa as it afford more privacy and the room is bigger, however, we preferred to use the main pool as it was less claustrophobic and we could enjoy a drink by the pool in the evening! Outdoor bathroom is a nice touch as are other details like the herbal showergels, shampoos etc. Room service was excellent - our room was kept spotlessly clean and housekeeping somehow managed to sneak in and out and clean it without ever interfering with us.
Staying at the Jamahal felt just like staying in a private home yet with 24-hour service to cater for every whim and wish. If like us, you're tired, of staying at large characterless corporate chain hotels and crave something a bit different, the Jamahal is a good choice.

On the downside, well we didn't like the beach much at Jimbaran but none of the beaches in Bali really appealed to us as there was too much thrash and as we were there at the end of the rainy season so the water wasn't really nice to swim in - often too rough. Would not recommend Bali for a beach holiday. Did not like the local restaurants alongside the Jimbaran beach as the food was not good and they were dirty - one evening we even saw rats running across the floor. However, close to the Jamahal, there are plenty of places like the InterConti, Orient Express, Ayana Beach resort (which houses the fantastic Rock Bar) and other restaurants like Balik so there's plenty of choice if you want to eat outside of the Jamahal.

Kuta is also reasonably close by - around 10 mins by car - and there are plenty of bars, shops etc there without staying in the midst of this tourist trap.
What's also good about Jamahal is that it is just 15 minutes from the airport ... this is a godsave on an island where it can take up to 2 hours to travel 20 km!

Would definitely recommend the Jamahal for a five-day stay ... to relax and unwind, enjoy time with your partner or loved ones, enjoy a great massage and romantic dinner in yoru poolside villa and enjoy Balinese hospitality and service at its best. After five days you will probably be recharged enough to start exploring the "wilder" parts of Bali like Ubud.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a pool villa, it's worth it. Alternatively, if you want pool access but not to splurge on the pool villa, choose the garden villa which opens out on to the main pool - the main pool is usually quiet so you*ll probably have it to yourself most the time!

This was the first place we stayed in on a 2 week trip to Bali. This was our first time here and this place sure made a great impression. As others have stated, the staff is amazing. (Certainly on par with all the Bali resorts we ended up visiting.) They knew our names throughout our whole trip and were extremely helpful, friendly, and accommodating.

We staying in a pool villa, which had it's own mini-pool and outdoor shower and bath. When we arrived, there was an abundance of fresh flowers in the room and in the bath. So nice!

The breakfasts were amazing too, with fresh fruit and pastries.

The main pool is gorgeous as well, with waterfall and a few "bales" to relax in the shade.

A lot of cool statues, lush greenery, and intricate wooden doors for each villa entrance.

Another reason why we chose to start our trip here (in Jimbaran) was the nice, swimmable beach and the ease of access to the multiple seafood warungs on the beach that are walking distance. (Our favorite was Menega Cafe, but that is another review!) The resort has it's own beach area which they drove us to whenever we wanted to go there. They had towels, recliners, water, bathroom and shower of their own setup on the beach. (You could also walk to the beach, which we did a couple times.)

This place had it all. It gets my highest recommendation!

At the outset I must reiterate what other travellers have written - we received a great welcome, the staff are marvellous and the resort immaculately kept.
My husband informed me that he had saved the best till last and whilst the accommodation and service were 5 star I was disappointed to find the resort is SO private that we did not meet any of the other guests. Whilst we are happy to have breakfast in our villa the thought of a TV dinner in the tropics seemed rather sad so we opted to eat in the hotel foyer (where 3 tables were laid but we were the only diners). The 3 course meal (with choice of main course) worked out at over $30 a head and we felt this was expensive. My main course of tandoori chicken was literally chicken breast and rice - no sambals or salads, whereas my husband's prawn dish looked much more exciting.
The beach in Jimharan is vast and quite bleak during the daytime but it comes alive as the sun goes down and the locals come out to enjoy themselves.
A ten minute walk along the beach brought us to a fishing village and several beach restaurants where a basic fresh fish meal could be enjoyed for $5 a head (including soup, salad and fruit). The restaurants did a thriving business, there was a great party atmosphere and a local band arrived each evening to serenade us.
If you are looking for an ultra private holiday this is the place for you but for us it was just too isolated.

Room Tip: We did not see any of the other villas - we stayed in no 8 which was very pleasant.

Wonderful villa for the couples. Welcome drink, nice staff, outdoor bathing, outdoor tub with flowers and candles, private pool...almost everything you can expect for a vacation. The only weakness would be the airconditioner, which is helpless in the noon and make the room a little bit uncomfortale.
