“Not a 5 star resort”
Reviewed November 16, 2010

Room was full of mosquitoes when we got there. No minibar in room . Very small tv, with bad sound and wobbly vision. Bathroom large with one hook and one towelrail.Nowewhere to hang our wet bathers. Only one towel per person per day. Use your handtowels for the floor as lots of wet spots. Lots of dripping water from the ceiling, must be the aircon ducts, even on the bed. Not a new problem as the mosquito net has lots of brown spots on it. Did not sleep well, apart from the generators humming all night long, the staff arrive from 6.30am on their noisy mopeds. No do not disturb signs, and as the staff arrived at 8.30am, one knock and they put the key in the lock becomes annoying and embarrassing. The bed is three feet from the door. Phone calls looking for other guests at 7.50am ,one morning at 5.45am. Went to bed 11.00pm one night and saw the clean sheets had a very large stain on it, my husband referred to it as a rust stain. It was definitely not rust. Too late to ring, and threw a damp towel on it. Most upsetting. The private pool as not serviced very well. For 2 days too dirty to swim in it. After the rain the staff dont wipe down the pool chairs, or put the cusions on, as well as no pool towels are provided. You have to ring. If they remove them they dont replace them. The restaurant charges a delivery charge for room service, even if the restaurant is closed for a private function. Dont order the organic salad with tomatoes, feta, artichokes, semisundried toms, asparagus and avocados. You get sliced iceberg lettuce with 3 cherry toms and a small bit of avo. The wagyu beef burger is good, and the massage at the spa is expensive but fantastic. All round a beautiful landscaped property, but not a 5 star in our villa. We did not enjoy it, nor had a relaxing holiday. Never complained before, but this was just neverending, the water dripping on our bed was the final straw. The staff did not do the normal "how was your stay" when we paid the bill, maybe they knew villa 8 is a major issue. We looked forward in staying there, but up to now not even an email from the manager to apologise for our comments. He was away for the weekend when we left, and the front desk sent a worker in overalls to come and see what theproblem is.This is from the worlds leading boutique hotel, or so they claim.

As members of the Royal Resorts we stayed at the Karma Jimbaran during June 2010 as part of our timeshare exchange. Hospitality and service was exceptional. We loved Bali so much we have already booked for next year and next time we will explore Bali a bit more as we couldn't tear ourselves away from the villa or Jimbaran Beach. Most days on the beach we ate at the Bamboo warung. There are no downsides to Bali except it is way too far from the UK!! Can't wait to get back to Karma Jimbaran.

Very friendly and good service. My main gripe was the musty smell in the 2 bedrooms downstairs and the mouldy pillows. Also, the airconditioning system in our villa was not adequate. Despite having tthe maintenance guys look at it it was still very hot in the living area. Great Kids Club.

This was the best accommodation we have ever experienced. We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa for a week. The service provided by all staff was sensational - everyone was very helpful and friendly. The rooms were immaculate - and serviced twice daily !!!!! The location was close to Jimbaran Bay and the famous Seafood dinners on the beach. Amenities were great including our private pool in the villa, the restaurant and the "Kids Club". We highly recommend this if you would like a little luxury as part of your holiday experience.

Karma Jimbaran is a located just across the road about, about 50 meters from the
front to the beach. The strange thing though is the hotel seem to shy away from the
beach? We would appreciated to have a beachtowel counter where one exits the hotel
for going to the beach, rather then dragging your sunlounger towels from the villa down
to the beach and back all sandy again. Of course you can call housekeeping for fresh, but it gets a bit tireing after a few days. Also bear in mind the hotel do not have any designated area or loungers at the beach strangely enough. As a guest at Karma Jimbaran you are however welcome to go to their sister hotel Karma Kandara which has a high profile beach-club. Very pitoresque beach and postcard wiews, but the service
at this high profiled beach was a joke, you had to fight and wave to get towels for the loungers, one day there was no towels until long after noon because they were delayed from the laundry - very funny for a place like this. Also paying the bill took 45 minutes after asking for it 4-5 times on one lunch. You do not expect this kind of service - especially with the price-level, when you pay 20:- Usd for 15 cl of rosé-wine, you think some of that would go to keep service at a reasonable level.

Same went for the restaurant at Karma Jimbaran, very nice people, but things too slow. Stuff missing on the breakfast buffét every morning, no butter, no bowls for cereal. youghurt enough for one person at the time, every morning having to ask for bowl, for butter, 10-15 min to get coffee. One day you paid for something, you got free the other day and vice-versa.

Our villa was nice but with a very musty smell in the living-room that never disappeared.
The living-room also had some cockroaches on two occasions and rats-spilling in the semi-outdoor toilet every morning.

The water in the pool looked unclean upon arrvival, but improved. I imagined it had been idle for some time and it took a day for the water to get filtered I suppose. Not the end of the world, but could have been avoided really.

The spa was wonderful good value and nice service.

At the end of the day, it´s fair to say we were little disappointed with Karma. No doubt it is good value and very spacious villas, but still quite a few things missing out.

After my stay in two of the best resorts in the world (Four Seasons Bali) it was time to try the new Karma Jimbaran. I had some expectations since it's a member of The Leading Small Hotels of the World which is LHW's group for hotels with under 100 rooms. Furthermore this hotel had recieved very positive comments on Tripadvisor.

Karma Jimbaran has 38 villas and just recently got new general manager Matthew Everson which I was able to talk with for a few minutes. He told me that their target group is families especially because they have very good rates if you are a group and stay in their 4-bedroom villa. They hotel were fully occupied on the day I stayed so the only thing they had left was a 4-bedroom villa and it was very easy to see they have a big focus on the families.

They villa is approximately 400 square meters and features of course 4 bedrooms, huge large swimmingpool, kitchen, stue, 4 bathrooms - 2 of them with large bathtubes, 4 indoor showers and 2 very nice outdoor showers. There is space enough for 8-10 people and the villa is very moden, however there is not flatscreen Tv's in the villa which surprised me a lot since I believe it should be in every hotel with at least 4 stars. Wireless internet is free. Overall nice villas, but the service is very family oriented and far away from the same level you will find in Four Seasons, St. Regis and other of the great balinese hotels. That said, this hotel is absolutely great for families that wants value for money, privacy and space in a nice villa with own pool.
