This was the culinary highlight of our trip to Bali. Every single item that we ordered was fantastic and we couldn't wait for the next plate to arrive. I highly recommend their Tokyo Mojito as the perfect complement to this fine food! The staff were very friendly and the chef even custom made some ice cream at the requests of our children. I hope this restaurant is around for a very long time as we will definitely be going back on our next tip to Bali.

I first experienced Chef Kevin Cherkas food at Lafite at the Shangri-La Hotel in Kl and instantly became a fan Next met him at Blu at a special new years eve dinner - so when I found out he had opened Cuca in Jimbaran Bali ten minutes from my house I was so excited and could not wait to go and arrived without a booking
We were met almost like old friends Virginia, Kevin's Partner has a smile that lights up the world this daughter of Salamanca Spain is the filter the treasure behind this great young chef now at his peak at the ripe old age of 35
Cuca opened officially 10 august 2013 – a dream recipe - Location Architecture Designer interiors dream kitchen every item of furniture crockery cutlery menu design all reflecting the spirit of this partnership so precise zen like in thought yet so easy a space to be in
I have to brag about Chef Kevin achievements-
Member of team Canada coming fifth place winners at Boucuse d’or 2001 the toughest food competition in the world.
Gold and silver medals at the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs national and regional competitions in 2003
Kevin's work experience is just amassing worked with Daniel Boulud three star Michelin New York also with Elena and the maestro Juan Mari at Arzak in San Sebastian also El Bulli in Roses at the height of their fame-. Fine dining training at the best of the best.
All of this should have led to a formal fining restaurant in Bali -So what does Kevin do he takes all that skill all that precise training and attention to detail, the passion intensity and focus of formal dining and then creates a dining experience that is all about sharing having fun with friends
I loved Kevin’s quote I want to present food like ‘Grandma went to cooking school”
comfort food still pushing the boundaries finding the best ingredients 100 percent sourced from Bali and Indonesia and then preparing Tapas style dishes in a unique way
Our night was fantastic We were seated at a ‘Living Edge table “solid wood organic in form four meters long right in front of the Kitchen – if you have a chance you will love this -the Kitchen team has a smile on every face the discipline of various stations and the order is all there – a master team at work put together Kevin’s menu which was personalised after a short discussion
to showcase hot and cold and deserts we received a variety of exciting dishes a great sampling of the tapas things that made us smile you smile and go wow and oh and aaaaah one of guest rang her husband in Australia to explain her dining adventure
We all excitedly tried to rank our favourite dishes changing as every new plate arrived.
My favourites were the chilled water melon salad and the honey baked pumpkin salad roasted tiger prawns and marinated pulled pork and then I came face to face with a signature dish I new well - breakfast desert I will not explain this dish just ask for it when you go
Just to inform you how reasonable the cost was we payed less than USA $150 for numerous dishes for a party of four this is unbelievable value for what we got
Imagine if you went To Arzak, Daniel or La Broche - firstly you would have to wait a life time to get a booking then you would pay an arm and a leg
Thankyou Chef Kevin and Ibu Virginia we are coming again and we want to do the Cuca Sessions the special salt you have packaged and sell is already being put to good use
People if you want a culinary experience take a group- trust Chef Kevin to put a menu together to delight you and have a laugh and above all enjoy this great team

The concept of Cuca is unique, even more so in Bali. First, unlike at many other places in Bali, the focus is on the food, and the minimalist decor underlines this. So, if you are looking for another one of those chic restaurants like Cocoon or Kudeta, Cuca is not your place. Second, the menu is unlike anything I've seen so far. Tapas, arranged on the menu by type, but which apart from their size they have little in common with the typical Spanish tapas.

The chef has worked at quite a few 3 star restaurants, including El Bulli, and it shows, in a good way. He probably doesn't have the team to recreate 3 star food and thus avoids overly complex dishes. Still, every one has a few layers of taste that blend in very nicely. Definitely creative cuisine and we enjoyed every single bite of it.

Since they work with local ingredients, prices are moderate for such level of cuisine. A dinner for 2, with 2 glasses of wine each and about 8 different dishes will cost you about USD 100. Not cheap, but totally worth it.

If you are looking for an affordable culinary experience, Cuca is highly recommended.

My husband and I were in Bali few weeks ago, we went there two nights in a row! The food was unbelievably amazing! The local wine that we had was so nice, the chef and his front Manager wife were friendly & lovely people! We wish you Cuca all the very best!

Cuca is just 10 min from our Jimbaran house, a kid's friendly restaurant which is really important for our little family when finding the right eatery in Bali. Everything presented by Chef Kevin Cherkas is EDIBLE! Means : you want to eat every single morsel on the plate, until the last drop of sauce, because it's just heavenly scrumptious. It's all about the TASTE, and FLAVOR Cuca wants to present to us. On my note of kid's friendly resto, I must thank them for providing the decent, top quality of baby high chair (see our pics here), Chef Kevin made a roasted pumpkin that our Baby Geo could eat, and Geo liked it! Cuca has now Kid's Menu on the list, mommies! And the staffs are amazing, attentive, and tried to entertain Geo while his parents are busy eating and snapping pictures. Just a suggestion for Cuca : please ensure your staffs are smoke-odour free on hands and clothes, as one of the male waiter who hold Geo left an unpleasant smoke-odour on Geo's skin and clothes..

Other thing we love about bringing the whole family here is their Garden Lounge that looks like a nice green backyard and Baby Geo just loved running around and screamed for joy! Another plus point at Cuca for us.

More about the food : Tapas is what you come to Cuca for. We love the famous Crispy Fried Chicken, Roasted Tiger King Prawn which is a twisted tom yum version of Chef Kevin, and Mushroom Puddle using balinese organic rice. Everything here is 100% local! The price is very reasonable for that level of excellent food! We will come back for more tapas, mocktail, and dessert!
