“Worst experience of holiday”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

firstly the setting was changed due to religous ceremony/reason and new area looked like it was last minute

expectations were high re the food

lobster was tasteless and gritty like there was sand in it
squid , what there was of it, were small bites of rubber
prawns were half decent but most of the flavour was on the shell
fish was large halved and flattened out, first bit i tried was full of bones and thats as far as i got with that one

most expensive beers we paid for while over there

we couldnt wait to get out of the place and go back to our hotel, it was the worst thing we did while there and will be passing on feedback to the place itself

I was expecting , for the price and what I heard, a lovely seafood feast in a lovely seafront location

we got an overpiced chargrilled mess whilst sinking in the sand watching people flock to the local corn on the cob seller ( maybe patrons from the same dinner? )

We went here for dinner as it was highly recommended by the locals! We found a local taxi driver on the street who promised us he would take us there and back, upon arriving he drove into a restaurant that his friend owned and we were more or less ushered inside with no choice! We quickly left and the taxi driver drove off!

We then decided to go for a walk along the beach so we could get a good idea of the place. The beach was totally disgusting filled with rubbish everywhere which was so sad to see, there were dogs, cats and people selling stuff everywhere which was totally annoying and just ruined the whole relaxing scene we were looking for.

We then found a place to eat which was quite overpriced $60 AUD and the food was not reasonable quality it was dry and tasted odd compared to seafood we have eaten at other place in bali.

Overall i wouldn't bother visiting as the food was very average, the beach is disgusting. Very disappointed.

“The most plastic poluted beach I've ever seen”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

Clean you beaches, Bali. Otherwise all turists will disappear! I thought I've seen plastic poluted places elsewhere - Turkey for example. But I've not seen the worst - Bali Jimbararan Beach.
Thick layer of plastic covers almost whole beach on some days. The fishermen take the plastic out of their nets - and leave it on the beach. Then the high sea takes it all again, the beach is more or less clean - just untill the water delivers the whole load of plastic onto the beach again.
Terrible, Terrible. Some hotels clean the beach, some do not. I cannot understand, why there is no commune investment for whole beach - a small machine to clean the beach every day.
Then maybe it will be possible to clean the whole bay.

“Was good to try”
Reviewed March 10, 2013 via mobile

We went based on great reviews but I found the food to be average. The prawns tasted dirty, the calamari was wimpy and rubbery and my lobster was very overpriced and over cooked. The atmosphere however was sensational! Watching the sunset waiting for our meal was pretty magical. The staff were polite and helpful and there was a mariachi band who played wonderfully.

“Jimbaran Bay surprise”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

Sadly our hotel had arranged for us to be picked up and taken to the Bay but with a driver who couldn't speak English. We were deposited at one specific warang and hassled by the staff to quickly choose their seafood to be cooked and eaten at their restaurant. After walking past their kitchen (trying desperately to avoid Bali belly) we begged off, saying we had had a late lunch and needed a walk before dinner. Even worse was the condition of the beach! I have read some reviews and NO-ONE speaks of the level of rubbish which peppers the otherwise picturesque bay. After a long walk to the south, we stumbled across Sundara which is a brand new restaurant, recently opened as a part of the Four Seasons. It sounds as though we spent the same amount of money but dined in one of THE most spectacular restaurants in the world. The food, staff and setting were beyond imagination. We were literally treated like royalty! Get in quick before the crowd find out about it.
