“great food, need to pick your time and place”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

the seafood is great, the fishing boats come in on Tuesdays, this is the hot tip! day time is a non event and it can be quite oppressive in the heat especially with kids, late afternoon early evening seems to be best. do some research on the best eating spots so that your experience is a great one. At Ganeesha Cafe I had the whole deep fried pink snapper and it was awesome.

“Comes complete with rats”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

I have been to a number of fish markets and this one has to be the most authentic, right down to the rats scurrying around. Mid afternoon is never a good time to visit a fish market and some of the fish had certainly seen better days. The variety was good however and this would be of real interest to any keen fisherman or foodie. A trip down in the mornings when the fish are being landed would no doubt show it in a better light.

“Great fresh fish & interesting local market.”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

Went & picked some great fresh fish, then took it to be cooked on Barbie using Indonesian marinate. Well worth visit! A very ample tuna for under $10!

“best stretch of beach in Bali”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

Fishermen spend their entire days by the water and I am convinced they chose the best stretch of beach on the island for this fish market. Pretty tough to find, this market is a gem! As some previous reviewers stated, it is a market for the locals and run by the locals. I think we were the only tourists around at the time we visited, which makes it that much more interesting. The fisherman were hard at work and that made for amazing views, just watching them bring the fresh fish in the large baskets. The water here is a gorgeous blue, you should not miss this market, even if just to see the amazing stretch of beach! The market itself is pretty unsanitary and a bit dirty, but the fish is certainly fresh. We found our way here via a private car transfer.

“A very local experience”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

If you love local markets and fish, go to this one. There's a large range of very fresh fish and other seafood. So good to see some of the ones I only just read about. We were lucky enough to go with the chef from our villa and picked out what we wanted him to cook for us. A real treat!
