The place is very nicely decorated and appointed. There is a feeling of peace and quietness. Breakfast is good and dinner is not bad. The staff was nice but not very professional: we had an hour masssage that lasted 45 minutes.... this had never happened to us before and we have massages often!
The room are very nicely decorated but a bit dark. My main complain is the aircon: it was not strong enough for the volume, on the mezzanine it was very warm. We also had mosquitoes in the room and the curtain is not making it dark enough.
It is true that access to the beach is only convenient through Intercontinental so if you mind pretending you are staying at Intercontinental, it can be a problem, we didn't mind.

We held our wedding in the Shaba in October and it really exceeded our high expectations. We rented the whole villa for 3 nights and a number of family members and friends rented rooms in the adjacent hotel 'Villa Balquisse'. This was a perfect mini-holiday with loved ones with the wedding as the main event.

The villa and its surroundings, though not situated at the beach (the beach is about a 10-15 minute walk), are original and stunning at the same time. The style is a bit Mediterranean with carefully chosen furniture and artefacts which give the villa a unique feel. It is hard to describe, the best is to experience it for yourself because even the photos on the website dont do justice to it. It has a huge garden with beautifully maintained grass, 3 spacious rooms, a courtyard with fountain, a very big living kitchen and a nice pool with plenty of space around it for sunbathing. There is no need to go to the beach for swimming. While during the day we could enjoy the pool and fresh drinks served by the staff (who are usually in the kitchen or otherwise a phone call away), at night the poolside is a perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine in a romantic atmosphere.

The wedding itself was organized with care by the hotel management (Mr Made and Mrs Wayan). A selection of options is provided to choose from while they happily fulfill special requests. The wedding decoration was magnificent for a special day and left our guests in awe, both before and after sunset. We can recommend it to anyone. We had around 70 guests which would be around the maximum number to fit in the dining room.

Beautiful place. Our room was spacious, very clean and simply pretty. Staff very friendly. Massages in the spa unforgetable. Food in the villa was good but we expected more of traditional Balinese kind.

We have rented the Shaba and four rooms in the Balquisse for our wedding for three nights. It was absolutely amazing. The rooms in the Balquisse are beautifully decorated and very spacious. Each one is different and has its own unique style. The Balquisse property is set in a beautifil lush tropical garden and has only ten rooms. Every five rooms, have their own swiming pool. The staff is very helpfull, professional and friendly. The food is simply amazing, prawn noodle salads, couscous with feta and mint, sesame encrusted tuna, just to name a few of our favourites. Also a visit to their Spa is something we would highly recommend.
The Shaba is truelly a dream come true. It has three enourmous rooms, a beautiful living area, a huge pool, surrounded by gardens. The pictures on the website do not do justice to the real property, it is heaven on earth. We can only suggest to go see it for yourself and you will know what we mean. We stayed with our family in the Shaba. Our friends who stayed in Balquisse could simply drop by whenever they wanted to. The properties are very close to each other. The staff provides us with lime water, coffee and tea througout the day and were very kind. They always provide super service with a smile. After our wedding that took place on Jimbaran beach, we had a small reception and diner at the Shaba with our family and friends. The Shaba was decorated beatifully with flowers and candles everywhere. It was breathtaking. Again the food but also the wines were excellent. We will always treasure our wedding day mostly because of our wonderful stay at the Shaba. The staff did everything to make it the day best of our lives and they have definately succeeded. Thank you again Made, Wayan and the rest of the staff to make our dream come true.

Room Tip: In the Balquisse we would recommend a superior room because they are very spacious. If you want to g...

Beautiful 3bdrm 2bath villa with private pool. We stayed as 2 couples for 8 nights and had an amazing stay. We enjoyed a short taxi ride to all our favourite restaurants, shops and tourist attractions. As well we enjoyed the atmosphere of the villa by ordering home delivery from a great range of bali restaurants, all with the assistance of the lovely staff at Villa Serai.

We stayed 5 nights in room 7. it has no charm at all, the bathroom is ridiculously small and very unpractical. The decoration is at the simplest level, with posters of Mauresque ladies with very sad faces, frightening for kids and depressing for adults coming to Bali in a boutique hotel... This room has nothing to do with the rest of the hotel. Unfortunately we have not had the possibility to change and had to keep the room for 5 nights. The worst came when we got new neighbors in room 8 and could hear the guy caugh as if he was in our room (wooden separation door with open air on top).
The common space outside is very nice, very warm, with great decoration. You feel home in a second. We all loved the spa, including the kids ! and the breakfast is very generous. Very nice boutique hotel indeed, but this room 7 is to be avoided !!!

Great location, few hundreds meters from Jimbaran's beach. To easily access later, you need to cross Intercontinental's property (not always that easy as curiously they filter quite much even when properly dressed: anyhow they can't you stop going through as you may visit a friend or have lunch at their restaurant). Villa Balquisse is exquisitely furbished and designed almost like a Rajahstan sommer palace or a Makarchi Ryad....A lot of taste make this place a realy wonderful place to stay at. two nice twin swimming pools with welcoming sofas that invite you to farniente. Our en suite bedroom (Kids had their own bathroom as we did have ours) was just superb, with nice candles and beautifull lamps which seemed to come out of an antiquity shop.
The place is very quite and the people quite nice.
Food is very good though expensive by Bali standards (clearly you pay the "address" as much as the food...whilst eating at one of the wonderful fish restaurants overlooking the beach at sunset will clearly cost 3 times less).
The only serious regret we had was that as my younger son left his expensive snorkeling mask which he uses for diving too and has expensive correction glass, in the bathroom the day we left, there was nonen as we called back on next day. As the room must have been cleaned before the next guest, we were quite uncomfortable as to what it meant.
Anyhow beyond that incident, definitely an excellent address quite and beautifull.
