We spent our honeymoon in the FS Jimbaran 20 years ago when the resort was brand new and we decided to return this year. And we were not disappointed. The resort aged gracefully, certainly due to excellent maintenance, service is impeccable and it has hands down the nicest garden on the bay, sloping downhill without being at the top of a cliff while many other resorts are flat.
The villas (we had the standard type) are not huge, but very nicely appointed with a plunge pool just big enough (head to the beach club for a lap pool) to refresh, a large outdoor sala, split air-conditoned bedroom and bath and an outdoor shower. All villas offer a high level of privacy.
The new beach club Sundara that replaced the old Seafood place is spectacular. A large beachfront pool (that seems to get the occasional wave of sea water), an excellent lively bar and restaurant. The hilltop restaurant (Indonesian cuisine) is great as well. Additionally, there is a small Thai restaurant (no view), more geared towards families and the pool-side cafe for lunch.
The resort is quite big, but many guests seem to remain in their villas and use room service and not even the pool area, so there is ample space. The main pool is "quiet" and there is a seven meter waterfall down to another level. The beach itself is public, the water not that clean and jellyfish can be present, but you can walk for miles all along the bay.
No complaints about the noise of the airport (there are maybe two planes per day crossing the resort and you came by plane yourself, didn't you?)
Service, as we always find at a FS, is excellent, Buggies at your disposal all the time (we recommend to walk) and special requests are taken care of. Everything is impeccable clean, we did not find a single bug in the room during our one week stay - not always the case in a tropical resort.
We did not use the Spa (which is almost not within the resort) as the "menu" seemed a bit exotic for our taste.
Only one word of warning: Try to get a breakfast-included rate. The breakfast menu (served, no buffet, which is great) is nothing special and set you back 70 Dollars or more easily without ordering that much. And speaking of sky-high prices, try to get a free internet connection as well. The slow speed is USD 10 per day plus service charge (!).
Take also advantage of the many possibilities of Jimbaran beach, especially the nightly beach-barbeque. The fresh fish there, with candlelights and washed down with some beers for the same cost as 1 day internet linkup.
