“Magical location for a wedding!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2010

The property is the perfect place for a magical sunset wedding which is why I was there. Their banquets and events departments are very well organised and the food at every wedding event was scrumptious and there was an amazing variety. Unfortunately the food in the restaurants and room service were ok and very overpriced for what they were. The service wasn't up t the standard of such a hotel but it was not for lack of effort- it may have been a language barrier. Though slow the staff was always friendly and smiling. The size of the property and beautiful locations like the ROck Bar and the wedding ceremony against the Indian Ocean sunset were breath taking and visions I'll never forget. They have hidden away spots too that were peaceful. Considering the wedding guests were so many and that the hotel seemed very occupied the rooms and common areas were spread out enough that one didn't bump into too many people if one didn't want to.
Don't bother upgrading to a Club room for it's perks as the meals there are far from satisfying and the quality of the free alcoholic drinks sub standad. The freshly squeezed juices are delicious and the tea time snack good.
The Rock Bar at night is worth checking out even if you're not staying here.
I'm sure for a hotel of this calibre one would find much better value for money elsewhere or even a great deal at a budget place if the beach and water sports are your thing. It's beaches, views and location are one of a kind though so if you're not as fussy as I am I would suggest giving it a try.

Could not have asked for a better accommodation. Stayed at Ayana Resorts with a few of my friends and we all felt that the service was incredible. Staffs were all very helpful and genuinely happy 247. We went downtown to shop/ eat a few times during our stay, but we could have stayed at the hotel and never be bored. During our 3 night stays, we:
- Mountain biked to the famous surfer beach
- Swam in the gorgeous infinity pool
- Bathed in flower-filled hot tub
- Got the famous spa treatment, which was incredible!!
- Ate at various restaurants that serve delicious seafood
- Drunk at the trendy Cliff Bar
If you are thinking about Bali, I strongly recommend Ayana Resort & Spa :-)

Highly recommended for a romantic and relaxing vacation... The resort is located on the cliffs of the Jimabaran Bay with amazing views...

It is like a small village and offers various restaurants and bars. The show stopper is the Rock bar and the pool next too it, located just by the ocean. Stunning views and a unique atmosphere at night!

The staff is the friendliest and most helpful we have ever encounterd in our travels...

The Ayana is the best among the best, highly recommended!

I feel almost duty bound to write a glowing review on this place, we are very experienced travellers due to various business trips taking us all over the world and this without doubt is the best place we have ever stayed!
Our accommodation was "1 bedroom ocean view cliff villa" and it is important to remember the " cliff" word as this basically means upgraded but you dont realilse this until you are there.
Our villa was amazing 500 sq mtrs of pure luxury with what was classed as a private plunge pool but to be fair was more than big enough to do a lap or 2.
Amazing bathroom, lounge, dressing area with walk in wardrobe, gazebo by the pool with thatched roof. As far as I can tell all "cliff" villas are totally private and are not overlooked in any direction which made it absolutely perfect for us.
The resort itself had approx 12 restaraunts / cafes and numerous fabulous pools that I am afraid we never made use of because our villa was so great, however if you stay in the hotel the facilites are amazing. Unfortunatley we never checked out the standard rooms or suites so I cannot vouch for them.
The staff are unbelievably freindly and at no stage did we have a single thing to complain about, my one tip on this point would be however that they are so happy to please that sometimes you will receive a "yes" when it should have been no so be sure to double check all the answers you are given.
I have seen a few reviews on this place that mention people not getting what they want, its simple ! just ask and they will get it for you, rather than not asking and then complaining afterwards or when you get home. The staff simply cannot do enough for you but you need to tell them what you want.
On our visit we hired a driver for the day approx £40 -£50 and we visited the four seasons resorts , intercontinental, Bulgari and none of these were a patch on Ayana and were all a lot more expensive, its simple just go to Ayana you won't be dissappointed. I almost booked the four seasons and I can tell you I would have been gutted to pay £150 more per night for no where near as good a resort.
On our last night we took the "pesta lobster" experience which is basically a private meal for 2 on there own 500 mtr Jetty, it was spectacular, we watched the sunset from the jetty and ate amazing lobster, we then returned to the rock bar which is a bar perched half way up the cliff which the hotel has a cliffside elevator to take you down to, amazing!
I could go on and on about this place and you would be forgiven for thinking this is a dodgy review from someone with a vested interest, I can assure you its not, as mentioned we have travelled to hundreds of places worldwide and I feel credit where credit is due this place really deserves applauding on everything it has to offer.
As regards pricing it seemed ok, a beer about £3 and vodka approx £6, altough not the cheapest in the world this again was cheaper than the other resorts we visited in Jimbaran.
Jimbaran itself is worth a visit but be aware this will mainly involve a meal on the beach in through not great restaraunts, however the beaches are so beautiful and the lighting and ambience mask the rest!
All in an amazing experience and please feel free to contact me if you want more info I will gladly offer my opinion if I can.

We stayed here for the final night of our 8 day trip to Bali, it was absolutely beautiful.

There are heaps of restaurants to choose from and plenty of different areas within the resort to hang out at.

We spent the afternoon drinking cocktails in the ocean side pool and then went to the Rock Bar for drinks and dinner at Honzen for Japanese.

The room was lovely, very clean and quiet large and the bed was comfy. The restaurants all looked very nice, pretty pricey but we were aware that this was going to be the case.

Highlight was the Rock Bar, beers were expensive but cocktails were resonable and it was the perfect location to watch the sun set from the top level. They seem to enforce their dress code and we saw a couple of people refused entry due to boardshorts etc.

Honzen was nice but they failed to mention that there was fish in one of their dishes (my partner is a vego) but they were happy to take it back and make the dish again fish free. The rest of the meal was good an they offer teppanyaki grill which looked like good fun.

The only problem with our room was that I could hear quiet a bit of noise from outside and other showers running throughout the night. We had a nice view out over the mini golf course.

All in all the experience was amazing and we will def be returning in the future!!

Stayed at The Ayana Resort for 2 nights, location was far from everywhere and it is very secluded. But there are a lot of things to do at the hotel and they have pretty good restaurants and bars (The Rock Bar). The beach was very far away though, thought the beach would be easier to access since it is an expensive 5 star resort. If it was a nice a beach it would've been worth the trouble of getting there (a real hike going up and down very steep steps through a cliff), but the beach was horrible. Stayed at the beach only for a few minutes as a breather and then headed back up the crazy steps.
Staff were very pleasant, rooms were nice, we got the room facing the ocean which was nice to see when waking up to. Breakfast was great. The rock bar is a nice place to have drinks before finishing the day and the ocean pool with amazing views was excellent.
Will definitely come back...but spending just a night here would be enough.

We have been staying at Ayana (formally the Ritz Carlton) since it first opened and the experience remains memorable! We have just returned from a week in the club rooms. It was so relaxing. The staff were always willing to help and exceptionally friendly. We ate at the restaurants, we had an exceptional meal at Dava and the seafood at Kisik was good (although much more expensive than at the Jimbaran Bay restaurants which were only a short taxi ride away). We were disappointed with the food at Padi we felt that it really wasn't as good as it has been on our other trips! The highlight was the Rock Bar, sipping martinis and watching the sunset! Who could ask for more? I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone!
