My partner & I stayed over the valentines weekend & I’m only getting to review now.
In my opinion we should’ve left after the first night. This place is terrible for the price. It caters for day trippers only & cares less about paying staying Ayana guests .

We had an oceanview facing club room which for the price was really lacking, the bed was uncomfortable & the people in the room next to us were smoking & spitting over the balcony. It was disgusting! Particularly when your meant to be in a nonsmoking room. To make it worse the bed was so noisey every time u climbed on, and due to the paper thin walls we were a tad shy about using the bed. And we were right in front of construction, that started at 7am and finished at 6pm.

We complained the day after our first night, only to be moved to a room directly in front of construction which was not ideal for a valentines retreat. Apparently as we were club members this was the only room available to us. Just a tip do not pay for club privilege ur gets you nothing but access to the club lounge.

We booked a spot at rock bar for the night before valentines thinking it wouldn’t be so packed, we definitely regretted this booking. Our table was not even close to the bar, it had no lighting, poor service & we were provided the bar menu not a dinner menu. The bar was full of day trippers & non paying visitors, who were drinking water & only there for instagram pics. We definitely felt at this point the hotel cared more for the bus tours of visitors then guests. This was made worse when for the next three days we watched day visitors lie there way in to the hotel facilities. Like the rock pool, we saw day trippers give the poor staff a room number & try to order drinks & lay in a day bed taking it away from paying guests. I feel sorry for the staff, as they need to be on their toes to prevent this from happening. This even happened at the river pool where we saw a number of day trippers take up beds & enjoy themselves.

After the third day we had had enough & wished we were elsewhere. The staff are hard workers but it appears the guests staying at Rimba & day trippers are the ones that benefit from this resort.

If you book to stay here book to stay at Rimba, it’s cheaper plus you get the Ayana benefits. I would not stay as an Ayana guest again.

The only saving grace was the staff on the club lounge, they were amazing & I hope that better resorts snap them up as they were amazing.

If you want to be in the area stay at the Intercontinental, you will not be harassed by day visitors.

A real 5 star mega resort. There's something like 20 restaurants, 6plus pools, private beach, buggy service every 5 minutes anywhere in there sort, golf course, aqua health pools and staff every corner you look. My only complaint is that way to many people know about this place now and it's not quite as exclusive as it used to be. There are soooo many outside tourist guests that are not even staying at the hotel just wandering around everywhere

Dear Naughty R,

Thank you for taking the time to write to us about how much you enjoyed your recent getaway at our resort.

It is delightful to read about how much you enjoyed our swimming pools, each designed with a unique ambience to please families and couples alike. Many repeat guests also choose AYANA for the restaurants, with 19 outstanding dining venues, Rock Bar BALI and the new Kubu Beach Club.

Although it sounds as if you enjoyed many of the unique activities and services that our resort has to offer, I do apologize for the inconveniences you describe. We try to create a relaxing ambience that allows guests to truly unwind from the day-to-day back home, and I apologize that you were disturbed during your holiday.

If you choose to give us another opportunity, we would love to welcome you back and do recommend our most tranquil accommodation at The Villas at AYANA. Each villa is appointed with a private pool and garden, with exclusive entry via a beautifully carved wooden gate.

Kind regards,

Warm welcome-most staff remember your name during your stay.
Rooms are luxury with high class finish. Sensational bathrooms with circular spa bath with gold colour tiles.
Breakfasts sumptuous.
The world famous Rock bar is breathtaking at sunset! The best spot to be in Bali to observe sunsets.
Part of the resort is the old Ritz carlton nad the grounds and swimming pools are awesome!
The Ayana spa has various unique hydrotherapytreatments-amazing!
The long mini putting course designed by an American golf company, is challenging.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view over the pools are great!

My husband and I spent one night at this hotel after 5 nights at the gorgeous and classy Kayon Resort in Ubud.

It was to be our last night on the beach in Jimbaran since we flew out at 10:00PM the next evening.

I do not understand the attraction of this resort......we left as soon as we could after breakfast the next morning and took a taxi to the Intercontinental for the day as we left that evening......I even paid the intercontinental for a room ($240) just to have for the day as we did not want to spend any more time at Ayana.

This hotel is so extremely crowded with Asian tourists it is overwhelming. I love Asian countries and love other cultures and peoples (I have traveled to 118 countries) but the ratio in this hotel is mostly (by 90%) Asian tourists who all have their selfies sticks out and cameras operating non stop.....

The ocean side pool area below the rock bar looks so wonderful on the website and shows stairs leading onto the lovely beach but in reality there is no access down the stairs .....and the pool is over run with people.....again cameras every where....almost a Disneyland atmosphere...not conducive to a romantic vacation or even a relaxing one....

The water in all the pools is on the cooler side too so it is not very comfortable to hang out in...(the intercontinental was warmer and really nice to spend time in)

The feeling we got from this pretentious resort was a very sterile package tour type holiday for people who need a butler to assist them in their every move....

We were so happy to leave the next day..I wish we had booked the Intercontinental to begin with but it is a lesson learned not to always believe the glossy photos or hype you see and read on the websites.....

Room Tip: find a room at another hotel
