Held my wedding here a few days ago at Asmara and Chandra Surya. Was absolutely magical. Every single staff member at the resort was perfect. Catered to all of our requests no questions asked.

Julisa the wedding planning was incredible. Very professional, helpful and made sure everything was done according to our wishes. Even offered us a free trip to the aquatonic spa! Managed to also get us a good price to the villas which we unfortunately had to turn down for now. My parents got a free upgrade to the suite as well which they loved. Thanks you very much Ayana, Julisa and the rest of the staff for the memorable and amazing wedding. Our families and friends had a very good time as we'll. Hold on to Julisa Ayana. She is the type of staff you will want to retain no matter what. Everything was perfect and we will be back really soon so reserve a good room for us next time we visit! Off to Rimba!

This resort is fantastic in almost every way. The grounds are magnificent, the pools and amenities are fabulous, food was great and the service was consistently outstanding! We stayed in a pool villa with a Butler and we felt very pampered and relaxed. Our room was luxurious and comfortable, as you would expect, and the bathroom blew us away in size, decor, and amenities. The staff in the Club were attentive and the food was imaginative and satisfying. The Aquatonic Pool is not to be missed and the Spa services were great!

The only disappointment in our stay was the Rock Bar. We observed the entire front row of seats overlooking the ocean being "held" by one gentleman with his things in the seats from 5:30 to 7:15 pm (the best time for sunset!) which we were told was against the rules. Many people, including us, wanted to sit there and the line was very long to get in, but this gentleman was allowed to do this. Many people who visit there are not hotel guests and we were told Hotel guests are given priority, but there is room for improvement, particularly for guests investing in a Pool Villa Suite. Maybe a few seats could be set aside for reservations?

Rock Bar aside, this is one of the truly best 5-star resorts were have ever stayed in and we would not hesitate to return and to recommend it to our friends!

Amazing service, great place to stay for family with kids or the youngster. Pretty classy and pricey!!!
The down side would be the distance between each facility. Buggie is available but need to arrange ahead.

In all fairness, we had been traveling for 10 days in Java and Ubud prior to our arrival @ Ayana, staying in small luxury resorts with private pools. I was shocked to see people everywhere @ Ayana. It was packed.

Rock Bar is the 'place to be @ sunset'......we did it once and that enough. As a guest of the resort, we were able to get a table because we arrived by 4:30. If you aren't a resort guest, arrive by 3:30 and hope you get in. Even though the staff works very hard to keep it orderly, it's a 'madhouse' for 2 hours @ $25.USD for a glass of wine.

Our room (1329) was clean and well looked after. Service was excellent.

Breakfast was excellent with lots of choices. Certainly, no one could say they didn't get enough to eat as it is a giant buffet. The staff worked very hard to please the guests.

Kudos to the guest services people who worked very hard to keep the traffic moving at the front of the resort. One lady, who must have been a manager was tirelessly working to make sure the guests were being looked after and happy. She wore glasses and I think her name was Ayuang.

If you are looking for a lot of activity, you'll find it here. If you want seclusion and privacy, go to the Four Seasons.

AYANARESORT, Manager at AYANA Resort and Spa, responded to this reviewResponded October 18, 2013

Dear 'Meade66',

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay at AYANA. I am glad you enjoyed the resort facilities, the food quality and your room, as well as the caring services from our team members to make you feel happy and well-looked after. I understand your comments on the high occupancy during your stay, as your visit coincided with several weddings at the AYANA, as October is traditionally a very popular month for couples to say ‘I do’ in Bali. With 2 wedding chapels, AYANA is a destination venue for weddings. I apologize for any inconveniences caused by this.

If you have an occasion to visit Bali again in future, our 78 Villas offer extra privacy and seclusion with their own plunge pool and 24-hour butler service, and are located in a secluded area of the resort away from wedding venues and public spaces. I would very much welcome the opportunity to see you back at the resort to enjoy the more exclusive experience of The Villas. I do hope you will return to experience the difference as I’m sure you will enjoy your villa as much as you did the services and dining throughout the resort.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your experience and I look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Kind regards,

Martin Ehlers

I was invited to stay there one night with some friends. Well it's a nice hotel, nice room overlooking the golf course but too pricey for what you get. And overcrowded with Asian tourists. Breakfast (extensive buffet) was included.
Instead I suggest you book yourself for a treat at the aquatonic pool @ the spa. For 50US$ (or 60US$ I don't remember) you get a one of a kind experience with this aquatonic gigantic pool. Apparently there are only 2 aquatonic pools in the world (haven't checked that out! the other one supposedly in Europe).
You go from one spot to the other in this pool overlooking the ocean. Each one of them will treat one part of your body (e.g. knees, calves, thighs) massaging it quite strongly actually. But after spending 2h there, you will feel relaxed and in total bliss!
Allow yourself 2h to really enjoy the benefits of it. Worth every penny!
And if possible go in the mornings when it's not too crowded. The hotel guests usually get there after touring during the day so avoid end afternoon/ night time.
Except if you can afford or you are willing to pay Western prices for other treatments (massages), I wouldn't recommend them. You can get cheaper options elsewhere in Bali
I give it only 4 stars because of the hotel but the spa experience is worth 5.
