Yes it's gorgeous, Kisik seafood restaurant a must, rock bar a must. Previous reviews will give you more aesthetic details but I feel enough can not be said about the caring and attentive staff. After booking a club room (food and drinks included) we had a surprise upgrade to a cliff top villa with butler service. Well, hello heaven. We were ferried from A to B via golf buggy and any request for ice, etc was on the doorstep in minutes. Spent time in the club lounge, where the staff were extremely attentive without being overbearing. Drink orders remembered, etc. We were especially impressed by Hery, his enthusiasm for his work and desire to please was second to none, what a delightful young man, thanks mate. Very refreshing to see. The Australian hospitality industry has a lot to learn from this well run establishment.

Room Tip: At least get a club floor room. The value for money is good and you'll be treated like royalty.

We just finished our stay for 8 nights in one of the 'Ocean side Villas'. If your budget allows I would only recommend this room type for staying at Ayana.
Once you arrive at the property you soon begin to recognise the detail and attention the staff take to really look after you.
The one bonus of staying in the Ocean Villa is your own 24/7 personal butler who is there to look after your every request. You will receive your own personal mobile phone to carry with you so the butler can be contacted at all times.
Once you check in at the separate 'villa' check in area, you are swept away by private buggy to your own villa complete with private pool, gazebo, separate lounge room, bedroom, walk in robes, very large bathroom and separate bath/spa area. Overall for 2 people the villa is very private and spacious.
The views from each villa is very special and we requested a villa away from everyone else or the most remote so we even enjoyed more privacy and peace with extra special cliff side ocean views.
We also went to Rock Bar each evening for a cocktail whilst watching the sunset. When you stay in a suite you get priority access to the Rock Bar which means you do not have to line up in the queue to get the lift down to the bar, which around sunset the line from non hotel guests wishing to enter is very long. Once you get the very steep lift down you still need to wait for an actual seat at the 'rock bar' which is only very small and seating is limited.
Overall the stay at Ayana was very pleasant and the butler service was very good. A couple of times our butler did forget to make a few bookings but not to worry it is a good offering considering the price of the suite per night.
The hotel restaurants are also worth considering if after a long day you do not wish to leave the hotel. The Four Seasons down the road has a good Balinese restaurant worth the 10 minute taxi ride.
Also the spa facilities are excellent. We had a few massages and the cost/service is worth it.
Please note the Ayana is a long way from mainstream Bali where the W hotel is or Nusa Dua. If you are after complete rest and privacy and not interested in seeing to many sights, then Ayana is for you.

Room Tip: Only worth staying at Ayana for the Ocean Front Villa's/Suites.

This hotel is without doubt one of the most impressive hotels I've come across in terms of views and size. We stayed in a clifftop villa and were amazed at how large the villa was. The bathroom was bigger than most hotel rooms! Beautiful outdoor private pool with daybed and so very quiet. Service was fantastic and the Rock Bar didn't disappoint in terms of being given priority and the overall setting. Pools are great and our kids loved the kid pool with 2 water slides. Staff were very friendly and loved our little girls always giving them extra attention. They got colouring books and crayons at meals which was always appreciated.
I struggled with the remoteness of the location however. While I love how quiet it all is, I missed being able to walk or get a taxi easily to close by shops. Particularly with kids we like to have little "snacks" on hand and without being able to get to nearby shops we had to purchase everything at the resort which became very expensive and not always what we were after. In future I would make sure to stock up on any kids snacks that might be needed prior to the visit.
Also felt that it lacked slightly in the "casual" menu area. The food at Sami Sami is superb and ended up there both nights as probably the most suitable menu for young children.
It was alot more crowded than I thought as I didn't realise the number of rooms that are at this resort which was also a little of a surprise.
Overall loved the stay and found it very relaxing but I personally found 3 days plenty as wanted to get back into the mix of Bali.

Room Tip: Be aware of how remote this hotel is and make sure you have anything you need prior to visiting or y...

My wife and I stayed at the Ayana Resort July 30-31. We had picked it because we were coming off of a liveaboard dive boat and needed a place to stay for one night that was reasonably close to the airport in Denpasar. Wow, the Ayana Resort was much more than we expected. In some ways, it resembles the Grand Wailea on Maui, if that helps you understand the place. The grounds are beautifully designed, with three different pool areas, and fountains, koi ponds, and plumeria trees scattered about the grounds. Don't miss the infinity pool just above the beach -- it is out of view and easy to miss if you don't know where to look. The spa area is tranquil and serene, as you'd expect. The service was just outstanding, in the top tier of resorts anywhere in the world. We ate at the Damar Terrace and Kisik Bar and Grill. Both were unique experiences. Damar is informal and great for lunch, and the food was so good that we even contemplated eating dinner there as well... except that eating at Kisik is not to be missed, a sandy-floored, seaside restaurant just above the rocks and ocean below, with fresh catch of the day on the menu. You get to pick the seafood you want and the way you want it cooked.

Room Tip: Go for the ocean-view suite, if you can. The balcony is unbelievably expansive, and the bathtub fil...

We stayed here as my husband wanted to visit the rockbar and I wish I had booked longer as it is the most breathtakingly beautiful place we've ever been to. The grounds are huge and private, and well maintained - the minute you drive in it's like being in a very exclusive club. We stayed in the hotel resort part of the property and it was very reasonably priced from 5 star luxury. The facilities are amazing - we spent most of our time by the salt pool - infinity pool perched on a cliff overlooking private beach and the most amazing sunsets. The staff were attentive and really nice. The rockbar can be a wait but being hotel guests you get preferential treatment - they do warn you it's so popular you need to get there by 4:30pm for the best seats - so we arrived at 5 and we waited a total of 5 minutes - the cocktails were delicious - reasonably priced for the privilege of having front row seats to the most blistering sun set as the waves booms against the cliff.

Buffet breakfast was varied and fresh, loved having fresh coconuts for drinks. There are 9(?) restaurants to choose from for lunch and dinner, highly recommend the fine dining one Dava(?).

Wish I could have stayed for longer and explored the grounds - it's so huge you could happily spend a week just wondering around. I usually hate being trapped in a resort, but Ayana is so vast you don't feel like you're trapped at all. Although on the pricey side, staying at the hotel side made it very reasonable for enjoying the truly 5 star facilities, the hotel rooms are large and clean, the villas looked amazing - maybe next time... after a payrise! We didn't get around to the spa but the spa on the rocks looked amazing - private spa perched on a cliff edge with no-one else around.

It is a bit out of Jimbaran - it's 10min drive to get anywhere else, you can't just pop out the lobby and go exploring in the village, but the hotel does offer free shuttles to Nusa Dua, however once we got there we didn't want to leave. Lots of families and children friendly pool/play areas but as the grounds are huge you can easily avoid the pools with screaming kids :)

Read any of the 5 tick reviews and you have got a fuller picture of the Ayana that I could do justice to. There is absolutely nothing to say but EXCELLENT in all regards.

We did not try the "fine dining" restaurant. The food in the resort proper was at the high class end of resort food. Nothing was too much trouble.

The well known Rock Bar is pretty special, but can be noisy when the DJ is in full flight. Find out the times he's around and avoid, assuming you want to engage in conversation.

The spa area is simply superb and with breathtaking facilities. The 18 hole putting course is rather more tricky than you smart golfers might think. To cap it all, the souvenir shop, normally to be avoided in resorts, is very well stocked and not over-priced.

What's not to like? Nothing!

Room Tip: For some reason we got an upgrade without asking. Try! The upper floors are preferable.

Very different concept with the Aquatonic but worth a try. It's a bit of a drive from where we stayed in Legian. So we decided to go for a half day trip combined with the Ayana spa and Rock bar.

So Aquatonic is a 2-hour seawater therapy. It's a pool with a series of water jets targeting different pressure points and releasing tension in all areas. Pretty good concept and very relaxing.

We were a group of 5 and we could all go for the therapy together. Go around 4pm so you can be in the pool during sunset and enjoy the view.

We were served brilliant ginger tea. Would like to know the recipe.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. Facilities were clean.

Bit expensive but we got a package with a drink at the Rock Bar, which worked out well.

Dear ‘TeenaTT’,

Thank you for your review, I am pleased to hear your feedback about our team’s service and your experience with the Perfectonic Package, starting at our Thermes Marins Spa with the Thalassotherapy treatment at the Aquatonic Seawater Therapy Pool and concluding with sunset at Rock Bar where you enjoyed the Priority Access as part of this package. The recipe to our iced herbal tea served as a welcome drink to our Spa visitors is 1cm of ginger peeled and lightly crush, 1 stalk of lemongrass, a handful of mint leaves, 250ml of boiling water, 2 of your favourite teabags and rock sugar to taste. Thank you again for sharing your feedback, I look forward to welcoming you back to the resort.
