INTERCONTINENTAL Bali Resort
Ranked #5 of 58 Hotels in Jimbaran
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed December 11, 2009

We spent 17 days on the island in 5 different hotels, so it is quite easy to compare. The Intercontinental Jimbaran Resort is a quite new and well designed hotel situated directly at the beach. It offers good value for money. Our room (superior double) was spacious, clean and the AC was in good condition. The breakfast was rich, though nothing special. The hotel restaurants are not overly visited by the guests because just 100 meters away at the beach there are numerous excellent seafood-restaurants that offer a variety of local dishes for a fourth of the price the hotel charges in their restaurants. The Interconti is a quiet hotel and therefore ideal for relaxation after months of hard work, but it tends to bore you after a while. The four days we spent there, were the perfect amount of time to spend.

We (4 adults, 3 kids) stayed at the InterContinental Bali for 4 nights at the Club InterContinental. Our holiday in Bali was made all the more memorable by our stay at this wonderful hotel.

Our amazing experience began upon our arrival at the Denpasar's Ngurah Rai International Airport where we were ushered through immigration by the Hotel's staff to the Club InterContinental Airport Lounge to wait in comfort while they took our passports for immigration processing as well as arranged for pick-up of our luggage. They'd also arranged for 2 vehicles to transport us to the Hotel, one of which was just for our luggage. We felt like VIPs!

Once we reached the Hotel we experienced a very warm welcome at the Club InterContinental Lounge. I had enquired of the Hotel, via email prior to our arrival, if there was any place I could purchase a cake for my husband's birthday - they graciously provided a complimentary cake. Even before check-in was completed the staff ceremoniously brought out the cake and began singing 'Happy Birthday' to my husband. He was extremely pleased.

Our Club rooms were beautiful, large, clean and comfortable with large flat screen TV, DVD player (one can rent DVD's from the Inspiration Space). Bathrooms were large (1 bathtub, separate shower space, separate toilet) with L'Occitane and Aveda toiletries provided. Pillow menus were also provided. There was also a coffee maker (Krups, if I remember correctly) for freshly ground coffee, even espresso, at any time of the day. I liked the nightly turn-down service where unique souvenirs (vanilla pods, raw cacao, cinnamon chips) as well as Balinese story cards were placed on the bed as part of the service.

Our kids enjoyed the Planet Trekkers children's centre where there were lots of activities like fishing and arts and craft to keep them busy. Lunch and dinner for the kids were also provided upon request (without charge) and there was even a menu to select from.

We adults, on the other hand, loved the comfortable, private Club Lounge. We enjoyed the afternoon tea (full range of tea, scones, sandwiches and cakes provided) as well as the evening cocktails (quite a good range of alcoholic drinks, wines and canapes) that were served between 5pm to 8pm every evening. During the cocktail hours the guitarist made sure he played one or two classic Mandarin songs that he knew we'd enjoy. Several Sony VAIO laptops and the accompanying free wi-fi service were available for use at the Club Lounge after 8pm.

We had our breakfast daily at the Taman Gita Terrace even though we were given a choice of four to five breakfast venues. The buffet spread at breakfast was satisfactory with a good mix of international as well as Balinese food. The waffles were very good - I even overheard one guest saying that the waffles were the best thing at the buffet.

The Hotel's grounds and facilities were excellent and well maintained. Loved that there were several swimming pools and that the pool areas (both Club as well as main pools) were beautiful. While there are some other more beautiful beaches around Bali, we enjoyed Jimbaran beach. It was clean and quite safe. Our kids particularly enjoyed catching crabs on the beach at night.

The staff... They are friendly, humble, ever so polite and very hospitable. The Club staff attended to our every request (restaurant, transport reservations, etc.) and enquiries very satisfactorily with smiles on their faces. To Mr. Sapta, Dewi, Mirah and all the other wonderful staff at the InterContinental Bali, a big thank you for making our holiday so special. We indeed had an experience like no other and would love to return one day.

We stayed for 12 nights at Intercontinental Bali (Jimbaran bay) with my wife.
We really enjoyed this hotel. Even whether the hotel is 16 year old, all the rooms are renovated, clean, with nice furnitures.
Even whether it is a big hotel it was never overcrowded. The people working there are nice, and allways ready to do all their possible to make our stay unforgetable.
Close to the hotel there are plenty of small restaurants along the beach offering fish specialities for a very low price.
Some small details made me unhappy: paying 4€ to rent a body board for one hour is unacceptable in such a hotel...similar remark for the poor internet access....

The hotel is magnificent and we have never experienced such amazing service before. There is a butler at your service which really felt like being a king! We stayed on the club level with its own concierge and club lounge where a palatable breakfast, tea, lunch, dinner are served and its amazing the kind of service they have!
The pools are lovely and there's a beach right in front .
Overall I would say this is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in on holiday ! Also, the shopping area is not too far and we had the best of all by staying at the Intercontinental. I recommend this one to all!

We did a 5 days family trip with our 9 & 12 year olds. The location of Intecontinental was ideal for our taste (away from the Kuta type excitement). The kids had a good time boogie boarding (of course don't expect Caribbean like blue waters) and the beach is a nice long one along the property. Being right next to the south Warungs was perfect (Yes, the crowded Menega cafe is the best). We had dinner at Menega 3 out of the 5 nights and it was great. The breakfast at the intercontinental had very good variety for us and the kids (kids definitely liked the pastries selection a lot). If you like the Asian breakfast fare - there are very good choices. Lots of tropical fruits too.
If you go there, definitely go for the Singaraja rooms - they are really good and have a 24 hour snack lounge. We had the Singaraja Duplex suite and it was luxurious with 1.5 baths. Very good bed with nice linen. The grounds are well kept with the nice large pools for relaxing. But, what makes it the best place is the people who work there. They are always ready to help and serve the guests.
We went out to Kuta 3 times and enjoyed the food at the food court in the Discovery Mall. Great variety of local delicacies. Kids liked a place in Kuta called "Flapjacks" - for the huge icecream Sundaes. We took the Bali Hai cruise to Lembongan island - this was a great experience and the time at the Bali Hai beach club was excellent.
Overall, an excellent trip for the family and a great stay at the Intercontinental Bali!
