This is the second stay for us at Intercontinental. With 2 children aged 11 and 13 we found this resort just perfect. I loved the location right on the beach. The beach is clean and there are no sellers wanting you to buy anything. The grounds are immaculate. Last year we stayed in a Duplex room on the fourth floor. The rooms are not modern, however they have an old world charm and they are spotlessly clean. This year we had the Uluwatu suite on ground level right next to the club pool. Having a deck outside our room was wonderful and it was great for access to the pool. This year we also chose the Club option. We really enjoyed the special benefits. It depends on your activities though, as we were away from the hotel every second day which means you can miss out on the freebies! We found the breakfast near the lobby to be the best. The children loved the variety and I believe their cappucinos and lattes had improved greatly from last year. The service we received from every member of staff for our entire stay was amazing. Before we arrived at the Intercontinental we had a week at Nusa Dua. Jimbaran beach was much cleaner and I found Nusa Dua felt a little deserted. Most families noted that the club pool was supposed to be a tranquil place. Lots of sunbeds to choose from. They are near the beach, in the garden or by the pool. We could always get one. Wish I was on one right now!! If you are keen on the shopping or trying top restuarants you will need to get a taxi to Kuta, Legian or Seminyak. We had taxis to Kuta for $5 and a bit more to Legian. Also a word of caution the footpaths just outside of the resort are a real danger. Watch every step! We have been home 2 days and I am already thinking of booking for next year. Heaven!

Dear melpea,

Thank you for taking your time to write your experience pertaining to your recent stay at our resort. i'm glad to learn that you had a lovely family gate away with us as well as our service at the Club.

I agree with you that you will find a pure serenity at Jimbaran Bay, there are no hawkers offering things to buy, just white pristine sands and gentle waves.

Looking forward to welcoming you back on your next return to Bali.

My husband and I took our two sons to Bali and chose to stay at the InterContinental. We stayed in a Singaraja Room which was spacious and accommodated the four of us comfortably. We also had access to a private lounge area with complimentary snacks and drinks which was perfect with two hungry boys. The views over the beach are amazing and you can watch planes taking off and landing. Unfortunately we were not overly impressed with our dining experiences and paid Perth prices for some pretty average food. However the breakfasts were spectacular and our older son enjoyed Planet Trekkers (kids' club). All of the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly and the service was impeccable. I would highly recommend this hotel for families but eat elsewhere as there are plenty of much better restaurants in Bali.

Room Tip: The Singaraja Rooms are well worth the additional cost if you have kids. They are spacious and incl...

We have been coming to this Intercon for the past 20 years at least once a year; experienced the moving/renovation of the club lounges and the main pool and restaurants. It is high time that the rooms and lofts are renovated! The bathroom fixtures are old, the sinks drainage rusty. The closet and drawers rails need to be replaced, and the furniture in general is looking very tired. The mattress is soft and the linens are also not looking and feeling fresh. I do hope that the hotel will invest in these renovations must-do's especially for the club rooms.
Having said this, the service and staff is impeccable! Balinese people have and hopefully will always be renowned for their friendliness. It seems such a pity that the staffs efficiency and friendliness is not supported nor matched by the hotel's facilities.
Another added value I would like to add is that as a Club guest, there is always plenty of food at almost all times. They should however maintain the regulation that children are not permitted in the lounge nor at the pool, as they also endorse the dress code which is very appropriate and appreciated. Maintain the quality of food to high standards and i would also suggest exploring more into the the Indonesian culinary dishes especially for the desserts.
first and foremost, the hotel needs to renovate its rooms!

My family and I have been staying in this hotel for 15 consecutive years and have absolutely adored it. The staff are incredibly friendly and smiley, the food is absolutely delicious, and having a very fussy 5 year old girl, it is hard to find something that she will eat but she will eat everything on the menu here! The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious with a range of different rooms that suit you and your family. My family and I stay in the same hotel room every time we stay, but do not want to give away our secret! There are also 5 very big pools that are just the right temperature and one having a bar with stools you sit up on and have a range of refreshing drinks! The beach is a bit dumpy and wavy but as it is located in the jimbaran bay it is fairly clean and away from all the drunk, bing tang shirt-wearers! My family and I love this hotel and are already looking forward to coming back next year!

This must be one of Intercontinental's premier resort hotels. It is a large property with a huge amount of activities on a daily basis. You could be busy the whole day if you chose to follow all the activities. The staff are exceptionally friendly and eager to please. The food in general was outstanding. We had two evening restaurant experiences at the resort. One at the Bella Cucina which was exceptional with an outstanding wine list and magnificent food. The other was a Bali theme dinner which was not so wonderful. The wine list was not up to scratch for a five star hotel and the packages were confusing. The buffet was good though. The entertainment was cumbersome and too long which was unfortunate. The spa was world class and the therapists fantastic. Concierge services were very informative and helpful. We had a very special 7 days in Bali.

Stayed four days in a duplex suite with club benefits. Hotel showing signs of its age but rooms were clean & bed comfy! Duplex suites were great for families as they have 2 levels. Japanese restaurant was great, but breakfast was disappointing. Club benefits were well worth it with free kids club (free meals too!) afternoon tea & cocktails from 4:30-7:30, which can be ordered at the sunset beach bar while watching the sunset...a big plus!! Main pool was great with a nice view of the beach, plenty of chairs available too. Not much happening outside the resort, but only a 1/2 hour trip to shopping areas. We had a great stay!

I write real reviews. You can check my previous ones to confirm. This place is on a very nice stretch of beach, maybe one of the best on Bali, which is why there are several "5 Star" hotels here. Staff excellent as one would expect. Pool is good and there are activities (not free) including a kids club (for a fee). Even tennis court charges for use - weird. The property itself is very nice, laid out over a large stretch of land right on the beach. Good beach bar with draft beer (though the more expensive Heineken draft seemed to run out all the time - with several days passing before replenished). Location is hard to beat and the rooms are good with comfy beds. Okay so here's why it's not close to being a five star. There is no midday aircon restaurant for lunch. You are pushed to the rather grungy outdoor poolside restaurant as the only option - breakfast here had a cockroach running across my foot. Likewise, there is no full pub/lounge. Seriously, there is no fully stocked aircon bar with draft beer offerings as one would expect in a five star. The 'lounge' is a pool table with no bar at all. For the big money reaquired to stay here choose another place. Having said that I checked out the Meridien and Four Seasons next door - seemed equally tired
