Having traveled throughout the world and stayed and many wonderful resorts, the Intercontinental Bali stands out in our minds for its excellence. There is a very large number of staff at the hotel and all of your needs are attended to very well. All of the staff were extremely friendly, warm and went out of their way to make our vacation enjoyable. The grounds are manicured to perfection. There is never one branch or blade of grass out of place. Additionally, the pool is always the perfect temperature for swimming and the view is phenomenal. The breakfast buffet is the most outstanding breakfast buffet we've ever had at a resort. The setting for breakfast was beautiful, make sure to grab a table outside while they play the traditional Balinese music. All of the food was high quality, and there was good variety. For activities we hired a driver through the resort and it was very reasonable. We spent two very memorable days traveling through the countryside of Bali with our driver, Gusti. He was a very kind hearted, warm and funny person who added much enjoyment to our trip. From beginning to end we cherish the week we spent at Intercontinental Bali.

Dear "AJKTRK",

It was a pleasure to host you and your family at InterContinental Bali Resort and I'm pleased to hear that you had a memorable stay especially for the views, the room, overall service, the food and the staffs. We are extremely proud of our family of 1000-plus staff and it is particularly rewarding to hear you talk so highly of them. They really think of visitors as honored guests to their island home, and consider it a great privilege to be at your service.

We all look forward to seeing you again next time.

Warm regards

Room - This is a very old property. There are switches on a brass panel located at the bed side table to control the lights, this is how old this place is. Cranky shower heads and early nineties type of bathroom, marble plus white rectangular bath tub. Wood flooring is badly scratched, and cushions in the balcony area were dirty. Bed is alright, rest of the furniture well maintained.

Surroundings: typical old style bali architecture, sprawling, well manicured lawns and gardens. Great water features, with ponds and water ways, but there is some strange looking fountain in one of them, maybe it's some water aerator. Dirty beach due to dilapitated restaurants operated by locals next to the hotel, though the stretch in front of the hotel is clean. Very peaceful if you walk away from the screamy kids.

Pools: Several pools located in the centre of the property, it seems to me the hotel is targeting families, as the pools were infested with loud screamy kids, not recommened for couples or a quiet retreat. I notice there was messages placed at the club pool to advice people to take their kids to the main pool so as not to disturb others. Pls enforce it.

Restaurants/food: breakfast typical line up for buffet, quality is average, coffee is very good. Hygiene seems to be an issue here as there are swarm of flies zooming around all the time. Ko restaurant is okay, just don't order their seafood, the steaks are of good quality, and done well by the balinese teppanyakki chef. Sake prices are ridiculous. Italian Restaurant is very good. Pool side cafe is horrible, we ordered a fish that stank, it was some sort of fish curry, and they gave us an unfresh fish which was promptly returned back to the kitchen, had a chicken curry too which was their recommendation, this is terrible too, it has overly cooked sliced chicken breast in it. Very unauthentic to use sliced chicken breast in curry.

Service: Prompt and polite, PC status is acknowledged and greeted by a manager. There's definitely no complaints in this section.

Spa: Some of the Spa facilities are open to hotel guests, and they allow kids in! Hence, a racket in the jacuzzi. Please at least restrict entry to at least age 16 and above, and do enforce it if you do. Otherwise massage was very good, done by experienced masseuer, would recommend their deep tissue massage.

Room Tip: Tip - there are better hotels for the money you pay here...

We stayed at the Intercontinental from 15th December, 2012 for 6 days in a Club room.. Breakfasts were brilliant in the buffet or Club dining room which offered excellent attentive service while not being over bearing. The pool dining area is good for lighter meals but on many occasions we travelled outside the hotel to some of top local restaurants as per Trip Advisor reviews. The grounds are truly stunning with the opportunity to either interact with other guests or have quiet time. The rooms are still great but we did have a problem with controlling the shower temperature which they attempted to fix immediately but still remained unsatisfactory. Clearly from other comments this is a common problem and must be remedied. Overall a great hotel with excellent service and we will definitely revisit.
We have subsequently moved to The Legian in Seminyak which is a good but completely different style hotel.

Like the first moon trip, we decided to land to this beautiful hotel on our first visit to Bali, and after three days we can say we made a fantastic decision. The hotel area is huge and thus, you can always find your own pieceful spot to relax. The staff is very helpful and service is great. We also met the resort manager, Stefan, at the Christmas Eve reception. He was very pleasent and interested in our experience so far.

The only minus are the prices of drinks and food at the hotel - they are pretty high. On the other hand, if you want to eat well and for reasonable price, there are some rather good restaurants on the beach in the close vicinity of the hotel. Just go to the beach and turn left, and you're almost there.

Great Staff, Great Breakfast Buffet, Great Rooms, Very comfortable beds. The beach area at the resort was kept clean. The Seafood Buffet wasn't very good as far as the Barbecue Prawns went, they were mushy and overpriced. We were told there would be lobster by one of the waitresses at breakfast and there wasn't any lobster. We hired the hotel driver for excursions and he did a great job, we used him 3 times. The traffic for getting around is horrific. If you are looking for cheap eats and cheap drinks you will not find it at this resort. The beach area has some great offers which is pretty easy to walk unless in winter months where after a storm loads of trash wash up on the beach and it's a little tricky walking it in the dark. It piles up pretty good. It will make you think about the condition of your seafood your eating while piles of plastic trash is being washed in. We used In Room Dining and it was very very good. We booked this resort for the 5 star service and we weren't disappointed. But like I said, if you are on a budget for food and drinks you will probably want to go outside of the resort.

TIP: For Wine or Spirits-7 minutes to walk to the mall. Also we saw cases of beer being brought in.

Room Tip: I didn't have a club room, but it would have been a good idea just to cut down on crowds at brea...

Considering the international brand, my experience in this hotel was mediocre. The rooms are all very dated, which is fine if they were functional. Throughout my entire stay here (3 nights), I could not enter my room properly. The 1st day, my door couldn't open despite the lock giving a green light. Hotel staff spent 2 hours trying to figure out the problem before changing the entire lock. This worked fine for about a day before another problem cropped up - the lock kept giving a red light despite having changed the key card twice. So for 1/3 of my stay, I spent locked outside my room; explaining to the hotel staff repeatedly the problem; waiting for them to fix the lock so I could have a new key card.
The other issue with this hotel is the ridiculous amount of flies. Sure its a beachside area where bugs are common, but on our first day here, we had lunch at one of the poolside restaurants, we couldn't eat our lunch properly because of the huge swarm of flies that descended on us the minute our food arrived. This wasn't helped by the fact that the fish was NOT fresh - after a few bites I had to tell the waitress to take it away because it was so bad. Just to give an idea of how bad it was: the curry it was cooked in couldn't mask the unfresh taste and smell.
The service in the hotel is so-so and the standard of english isn't very good so don't ask for too complicated things. Food-wise, only the italian restaurant had some standard. KO was also ok, but not the best jap food around. One good thing about this hotel is the spa - i had one of the best massages this trip in the spa.

We stayed at the IC Jimbaran Bay in May 2012 and it was a fabulous surprise. We had stayed at another resort in Nusa Dua the previous couple of days for a work conference and decided to spend the last four days of our visit at the Intercontinental. It had lots of local ambience and you felt tranquil from the moment you walked up the grand entrance into the lobby. The staff were attentive but unobtrusive, breakfast was lovely out on the terrace. Pools and grounds were picturesque, but the best part was the sunset bar where you could enjoy a cocktail or two looking out over the ocean. We booked for a massage up in the ocean/pool side pagodas and that was wonderfully relaxing listening to the sound of the sea while being pampered. Rooms while well appointed, clean and comfortable are starting to look a little tired.

You should have dinner on the beach at one of the local beach restaurants, but choose carefully as the one we ended up at was less than fantastic, although other people had wonderful dinners at different restaurants.

Also we used Take it Easy Bali Tours to get around while in Bali and Dana and his drivers were excellent, took us all around and to the airport when we departed. Would definitely stay at the Intercontinental if we travel back to Bali.
