A beautiful hotel situated on a very nice part of Jimbaran beach. We upgraded to the Club rooms which were really lovely and the fact that happy hour drinks / cocktails were included in our room package were a fantastic way to watch sunset etc. The staff in this hotel are what make it. They are just superb! This hotel is very established with beautiful gardens. It is a very impressive property.

A couple of pieces of advice - lunch in the hotel is stupidly expensive. We would go across the road to the Royal Bali Beach club and have lunch for less than half the price. And the Nasi Goreng and Mee Goreng at the Royal Bali was far superior than the Intercontinental.

You must must try dinner at the Japanese restaurant in the Intercon. This is our 2nd time to the Intercon and first to the teppinyaki restaurant. It was superb. They were having a promotion, which made us try it, and it was just lovely.

A small gripe was the fact that people seem to ignore the fact that the club pool is not for children. I think that management should enforce this rule a little more or don't make it a 'marketing' point for the club pool. We wanted to get away from the main pool and the many screaming children, so we were upsold the Club rooms as the Club pool is supposed to be child free. Well, they weren't!

Whilst this hotel is outstanding it is very family friendly. As such we won't be going back to stay there as it isn't really a tranquil place for couples. That said I don't want to take away from how wonderful the property and staff are. It's just not suited to a romantic / couples holiday in Bali.

Room Tip: Get a Club Room on level 4 if possible.

The staff and grounds were wonderful, the pool was fabulous and the beach so clean and sand white compared to Kuta. The rooms had everything that you needed except the daily clean was a little inconsistent and could have been a bit better.
We were there in low season for 8 days so on the plus side the resort was not crowded on the negative we felt that we were constantly subjected to up selling - 'do you want fries with that' mentality when it came to the spa and other facilities.
Tip, much cheaper to use the local blue taxis than the hotel cars, less than half the price, safe and efficient.
It was dissaponting that on check out that they added a daily charge to give to charity without asking us, I like to choose the charities I give to and if the hotel chain want a tax deduction when giving to charity and claiming they are generous perhaps the money should come from them rather than their unsuspecting patrons.
I would definitely stay again as the location and grounds were well worth the money not to mention the wonderful warm staff especially in the buffet breakfast restaurant near the beach.

The hotel is very well located . It is quite old but with the advantage that the parc is huge and the rooms are big . Good value for money.

We stayed for an amazing 10 nights in a Club Room and enjoyed the entire stay! The staff are warm, friendly and very helpful. The hotel grounds are immaculate with several pools to choose from. We loved the 2 hours of drinks and canapes every night as part of the club room privileges.
The seafood markets are literally a 5 minute walk down the beach, so you have a fabulous option if you wanted to dine outside the hotel. Can't wait to return!!

I did not have really high expectations for this hotel. And I guess I was not too disappointed. The grounds are beautiful. The beach is full of coral, so not the best place for a walk at night. The rooms are somewhat dated. The balcony is nice. The cleanliness is so-so at best. The breakfast is pretty good. The buffet dinner and dancing was pretty poor. The service was not very good anywhere on the resort, as there were insufficient fluent English speakers.

The highlight was the musicians.. in particular the Balinese Xylophone players. They were nothing short of mesmerizing. We were actively seeking them out during breaks between activities.

The spa was also great, and the prices were believable, though high.

Oh.. and it is very big. Not to say that is a bad thing, just something to be aware of. We will not be back though.

So there you have it. Ho hum.

This was our first stay at the Intercontinental. Initially we were put off by it's close proximity to the airport. But we didn't even notice the planes at all. The hotel's pools were amazing and it's right on the beach front. The hotel maintain the beach in front of the hotel so that's clean. Further along it's not so great but nothing to put you off going to the hotel. The hotel is immediately next to the famous Jimeran beach restaurants which were great. You could sit watching the amazing sunsets eating your dinner while the waves lap at your feet. The pool swim up bar was a hit with our children and despite it raining the whole weekend we were there it didn't spoil a thing. We stayed during Chinese New Year and the hotel was beautifully decorated for the occasion. The breakfasts were very busy - but they have two breakfast restaurants and it was a peak weekend that we stayed. We never had tyo wait as we went early with the children but after 8.30am some people had to wait a while for the main restaurant or go to the other smaller one for breakfast. The hotel has a wonderful beachside bar where you can enjoy happy hour after you've had your meal at one of the fish restaurants on the beach. The bar played great music and was close enough to a small play area where our children could play whilst we finished our drinks. This was the only time we noticed the planes as you can see the runway clearly when it was lit up at night but we enjoyed watching the planes - you couldnt hear them at all and it wasn't busy. Our only issue was with the agent we booked through (not the hotel) as we'd booked a room for 2 adults and 2 children. We hadn't been quoted the right price or the right room (despite it saying that it was a room for 4 people... it wasn't) so the hotel kindly upgraded us to a duplex appartment which was spot on. Staff were lovely and attentive too - from initial reception staff - bar staff - everyone was great. We didn't use the kids club as it looked small and only a few younger children were there. But the huge pools were enough to keep my two busy.

Room Tip: Best to make sure the room you book (if booking through an agent) is the correct one for the number...

My wife and I stayed at the InterContinental Bali for 6 nights in late April to attend a friends wedding on the island. This was our second visit having stayed there back in 2009 during which time I proposed to my then girlfriend. We stayed in a Club Room and wouldn't have it any other way. The reception team escorted us directly into the lounge for check in and were whisked to our room in no time. We spent a few late afternoons in the lounge enjoying a cocktail and escaping the heat as well as the occasional breakfast. There are 3 x locations you can enjoy breakfast, the toughest choice was waking up and deciding which one to try. To celebrate the location of our engagement we decided to treat ourselves to a private gazebo 4 course dinner complete with romantic flower petal arrangements and views overlooking the spot I proposed a few years back. The service and food were equally fantastic and a terrific way to celebrate a special occasion. The main pool is stunning with views out across Jimbaran Bay from the swim up pool bar, the Club pool is very quiet and relaxing as well. If you get up early enough grab one of the private sun bed lounges with food and beverage service on hand by simply raising a little white flag. I truly couldn't fault this hotel from the all round friendly service, immaculate manicured gardens, exceptional restaurants and a beautiful beach front location. I have stayed in many InterCons around the world and would have to rate the Bali property up there with the best. We will be back!

Room Tip: Book a Club room, best location and high quality rooms.
