Description: Balique is an original eatery found in the relaxed fishing village of Jimbaran, in stunning southern Bali, now home to outstanding world-class resorts and villas. This traditional seaside village and Balique suit each other harmoniously, as Balique pays homage to all the best of the Indonesian archipelago under its whirring fan-open style roof, in both the style and cuisine stakes. If you appreciate an authentic step into the past in stunning surroundings teemed with objets d’art, as well as a delicious menu, fabulous cocktails as well as an extensive affordable wine list – you have arrived home. And for sure, the warm décor along with the charming team of staff will make sure you completely feel at home here – welcome to the amazing world that is Balique and allow yourself to forget the fast, modern world outside, and be at peace in a bygone era of pure sensuality.

“Beautiful restaurant... Food is average though..”

When coming in the balique, wow will probably pop out your mouth. Decoration and architecture are just perfect, it is really beautiful. Lightning is also as it should always be.. Soft and smooth.

That's for the ambiance. For the food, it is good, but kind of average and definitely not worth the price. We had starters meatball with tzatziki (kind of tasteless) and squid rings with wasabi mayonnaise (I hoped it would be more punchy). We then had Indonesian courses : fish in banana leave (the most disappointing: fish was too much cooked) and nasi campur which wasn't beating the ones you can get in the streets of Bali. Finally we shared a ginger creme brûlée (taste was good although the texture was not homogeneous).

So food felt like average. Regarding the prices for two, with 4 glasses of wine (80k each) we had a 787,000 rps (around 60€).

So we had a great time in a beautiful place but the food was kind of disappointing!

“Worth the #1 rating. Kid's menu.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2013

We have been staying in Jimbaran the past four nights and have been dining at restaurants recommended on Trip Advisor. So far the results have been mediocre...until we tried Balique. The decor is amazing, even my husband mentioned how unique it was. Even better, I was pleasantly surprised that the food and service were just as good. My husband and I both liked our meals and we were happy to discover that they also had a kids menu. For our family of three our bill came to US $40, which included a glass of wine and a fruity non-alcoholic drink. We're headed back again tonight! Even if you're not hungry this place is worth stopping by for a drink just to see the decor, it's amazing.

“Decent Restaurant in Jimbaran Area !”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2013 via mobile

A really decent place to visit. We have had our lunch in this lovely place with ordering pastas and Nasi Campur. Walking distance from InterContinental. There is a boutique linked with Balique for presenting Balinese handicrafts. By the way, the music played in Balique is just sensational for romance. Definitely worth a try if you would stay in Jimbaran.

“Had did this place make it to number 1. I don't understand”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2013 via mobile

The restaurant is definitely worth a try for its really lovely decor but not for much more.
Service is really poor. We were the only table and despite a myriad of staff, it was really hard to get service. To a point that we had to rearrange the table set up ourselves. Wait staff was just 2 meters away watching us doing so and not bothering to help. Anything we wanted, we had to chase staff. I was actually quite thirsty that evening and could have drunk a lot more but got tired looking for staff. They are missing big revenue opportunities.
Food is ok but nothing to write home about.
We were quite a big party so spent quite a bit. They gave me my credit card slip to sign without a word and took it back... without a word! Not even a thank you
What a shame really. If service matched the outstanding decor, it would make this place a true and reliable number 1.

“Enjoyed....twice!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2013

Wandering around one night, came across this and subsequently went back a second evening (due to torrential rain and it being close to where we were staying at The Shaba). Didnt need to book, but probably a good idea as it can get busy.

Had the tapas - calamari and prawns - fantastic - followed by the mie goring with extra chilli! Great food, great atmosphere and just relaxing with good attentive staff. Jumbo Prawns and beef cappaccio also good.

Good value - if you are comparing the pricing to street food - then you will probably find its expensive!!

Overall really enjoyed it.
