The long-form version of my review is below. But just in case you don't read this, please save your money and peace of mind. Stay away from this restaurant.

Here's my review of Wali Beach Café:

Our driver took us to Wali Beach Café on our way to the airport after 11 glorious days in Bali. We trusted him, or else we wouldn't have gone here otherwise.

The fish odor upon entry should have told us to run from this place. After looking over the menu, the prices were high. But we were willing to go with it.

To order you go up to a counter and the waiter weighs out what you want in front of you. Four prawns came to about 300 grams, and the waiter tried to tell me I was getting a deal by throwing a 5th prawn in. Frankly, they were probably trying to get rid of their inventory.

We ordered 200 grams (approx 1/4 lb) of "fresh" prawns and about 400 grams (approx 1/2 lb) of "live" lobster, not much by any stretch of the imagination, which came with rice and a sautéed spinach dish.

The "fresh" prawns tasted awful. I practically gagged on them. The lobster was okay, but over priced. With one large Bintang and a glass of wine, our bill was about $45 USD.

One amazing moment during dinner was a dog that napped nearby suddenly got up and I asked my wife, "Is that dog playing with a squeaky toy?"

She said, "I don't think they have squeaky toys in Bali."

I looked over to see the dog chasing a large rat screaming and yelling just five feet from our table.

Too afraid to complain about the food or the rats, we paid our tab and got the heck out of there. As we were leaving, our waiter jumped in front of me and said, "We're so sorry. Your driver had to leave. We will call you another taxi. Where are you staying? What villa? What is your hotel called?"

I said, "What are you talking about? Our driver is right there." I pointed. I could see the vehicle from where I stood."

"No! He left. He had to go. We're sorry! We will call you a new car. Where are you staying?"

I said, "You are kidding me! My driver is right there!"

Meanwhile I panicked inside as all our belongings, passports and camera equipment (I'm photographer) were in our driver's car. If he left, we would be screwed.

Even as I reached for the car door, this jerk was telling me our driver left. He didn't so much as apologize, and it made my wife and i fear for our welfare.

Long story short, DO NOT EAT AT *WALI BEACH CAFE* !!!!

We were recommended this place, as Sharkey's. Our first trip to Jimbaran Bay after 10 trips to Bali. We had a great time, the food was excellent, a little pricey for Bali, but the atmosphere and setting were worth it. Service was very good, very friendly. They even let us set off fireworks we had bought on the beach after dinner. All in all a great night, and we will go back and take our friends:) for an estimate price range bintangs were 25000rp.
