“Excellent service in a lovely hotel”
Reviewed July 6, 2011

My partner and I spent 5 nights at the Jimbaran Cliff Hotel. We were unsure of what to expect but were hopeful based on recommendations and reading the other reviews online. On arrival into Bali our driver was patiently waiting for us and transported us to the hotel. Even though it was midnight bali time he took the time to show us around our room and answer our questions. As requested a bottle of champagne was waiting for us. The rooms are beautiful! The pictures online are exactly what you can expect, no camera trickery here! During our stay at the hotel the service was flawless, the staff supurb (who should be commended) and the food and overall decor just lovely. I would recommend Jimbaran for anyone looking to get away for a relaxing break. It is slighly removed from the action but personally we took that as a bonus. A busier bali is only a short taxi away (or hotel driver who was ever ready to take us anywhere). My only reservation was things in Bali do wake up early but this noise was honestly minimal and didnt spoil our sleep. Great hotel.

You wont be disapointed!!

My husband and I travel to Bali frequently, and have been looking for the perfect villa to keep going back to. This is not it.
The pick up from the airport was good, no problems there. We got back to the villa and checked in smoothly. That's when things went downhill.
Firstly, we arrived at night while it was raining. As we were staying in a cliff top villa behind reception, the roof line of our villa, and the villa below, were quite close. Both roofs directed the rain onto the path that led to our villa, meaning we were walking on a slippery path, and getting rained on. The staff member leading us to our villa provided an umbrella, however this wasn't adequate to keep all three of us plus our luggage dry.
As we entered the villa compound we stepped straight into a puddle of water that had pooled on our door step. Not a great first impression. We found it difficult to see the keyhole as there was no light near our door.
Once inside, the villa was nice. It featured a king bed, a one and two seater cane lounge (not very confortable) and a kitchenette. The kitchenette had no supplies whatsover, including plates or cutlery.
Off the bedroom was a nice bathroom and dressing room. The bathroom had a large bath and separate shower, as well as a toilet. The sink, cupboards and mirror were in the dressing room.
During our 5 day stay the floor of the bathroom didn't dry out once, even after the rain stopped. The shower had very little pressure or hot water, and the bath took over an hour to fill up.
The towels in the bathroom were stained, and were not changed once during our stay.
The sheets on our bed were also stained, and also weren't changed. We actually stripped the sheets off the bed one day, and placed them on the floor so that they would be washed. When we returned, the same sheets had been put back on the bed without a wash. Yuk.
The rest of the room was cleaned daily, however the staff didn't seem to understand that empty drink bottles left behind the sink should be discarded.
The pool was covered in leaves etc, and didn't look like it had been cleaned in a long time. The infinity edge, which was one of the things that attracted us to these villas in the first place, looked straight onto a dirty paddock next door. The paddock appeared to be being used as a rubbish dump.
There was a lovely bale to relax in on the end of the pool, however the cushions were torn and stained, and not very inviting.
When we were outside, we were constantly bombarded by the sounds of dogs fighting - not very relaxing.
Breakfast was average at best, with the same basic menu served day in and day out.
The free wifi that was advertised was only available in the restaurant, and only sporadically.
The location of this villa is nowhere near Jimbaran - the name and website are very deceptive. Nothing is within walking distance, most things are about 10-15 minutes by car away. Despite the advertising, the villas rarely had a driver available to take us anywhere. When they did, the service was not free.
The staff were dressed in polo shirts and jeans, not a professional image.
The spa was horrible, I actually had to ask the massuese to close the curtains so that the bright sunlight wasn't coming in during my massage.
All in all, a very disappointing stay, and a villa I won't be returning to.

Room Tip: Book somewhere else.

Thankyou to Jimbaran Cliffs for a magnificent holidaying experience. The hotel is brand new with quality fittings, fixtures with amazing beds. This secluded hotel offers the ultimate in luxury and privacy, with the fabulous views, private pools and outstanding service.
The hotel was everything we could have imagined. Exceptional quality hotel which is far enough away to have a peaceful, tranquil and relaxing holiday with absolute privacy. Yet only 20 minutes or so away from Kuta, Jimbaran Bay, Nusa Dua, Uluwatu and Airport.
The friendly staff were happy to provide us with anything we requested. The food and drinks menu was impressive and great value for money. Without doubt the spa treatments were the best we have ever encountered : )
For a totally relaxing and private holiday this is one of the best we have come across and definitely the best value for money by far.
We will be booking again very soon.

My sister and I booked on Wotif and shared a Cliff Edge room. We were there for only 3 nights as we were attending a wedding.
The room was huge and very clean, we shared a MASSIVE bed, I didn't even notice my sister was in it when we slept!! Actually we didn't even see one other guest while we were there, I did here someone sneeze through the wall in the bathroom, but we heard no other noises from anyone.
The staff were really friendly and did everything they can to assist if we had any queries.
The food was good, unfortunately we got our welcome drink and plate of fruit on arrival (for us it was past midnight) so we weren't really up to eating it late.
We also got a complimentary 20minute massage...which was fantastic!!

I have a few tips and things below if the hotel management or other travels might like to use.
- Definitely take advantage of the airport transfer service. Its a private resort for a reason
and most taxi's will get lost.
- Take the little brochure from the room folder with you everywhere!! I am so lucky we did. every taxi we took had no idea where the hotel was, the brochure has the address and a map on it. Remember its not in Jimbaran, its actually Mumbal. We had a taxi that was so lost it cost us an extra 30,000Rp. - if you don't want this hassle use the private car. You may need to book in advance though.
- Prepare for traffic. Again because this is private hotel and off the beaten track, prepare your journey time wise. We got stuck a few times on the way to Kuta & the airport because of traffic.
- Check your bills. we got charged three times the amount for breakfast. It was our last morning and we were mindful of how much Rp we had left so we were opting for the cheaper breakfast's. We were hoping it was a simple mistake as they did not seem the type to be dodgy, however a 100rp breakfast turned into a 300rp breakfast very quickly. We did address this and it was changed straight away.
- Smell in the mornings. I wanted to lay on the outdoor bed Sunday morning and soak in the beautiful view. However the incredible smell of sewerage prevented me from enjoying anything. I don't know where it was coming from but I think it may be something the hotel should address. It went away in the afternoon.
- Wireless ...its free but its hardly there...but this is a hotel to get away from things like that, it works great in the restaurant if you need to send that important email, otherwise turn it off and just enjoy being in the forest with nature.

Otherwise really good and would recommend it for those who want privacy and just want to stay in the resort for a peaceful quiet holiday.

Room Tip: Cliff Edge view is great!!

We recently stayed at Jimbaran Cliffs for 5 nights and it was a fantastic experience.

Our rooms were clean, contemporary with some traditional touches and equipped with a unique outdoor bathroom and private pool with sunbeds.

The best experience for us was the personable service we received from the fantastic and committed staff working at the hotel. Thank you to Peter, Gudut and the rest of the staff for making our holiday so enjoyable!

We regularly used the driving service that was available to us as it was a great chance for us to get to know the drivers and hear of their first hand experiences of Bali. Their advice on places to go and not go were also appreciated.

The massage services were to die for. As it was a short holiday we decided to splurge and get a massage nearly everyday. This was pure luxury and undulgence.

We will be back for sure and will recommend this place to our friends.

Room Tip: Use the driving service to get around.

We loved our stay at Jimbaran Cliffs. The rooms were incredible with great views and I loved having our own private pool. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The only drawback was that when we were there, the paths were not well light and it was difficult to see at night. Overall it was a wonderful stay, and I would definitely recommend it to people looking for a relaxing getaway.
