“Boutique luxury in Bali”
Reviewed May 7, 2014

We really had no idea what to expect from Gending Kedis when we booked online from Australia (outside of the website pics which can often be completely different to the reality!), so it was a tremendous bonus to rock up in the evening to such friendly people, good service and a lovely villa. The design and feel of the place was so relaxing, and felt safe for our children to move around freely without bothering anyone or feeling concerned for their safety. Set in the rainforest and really peaceful, we were able to watch the sun set from our pool and occasionally see a Monkey in the trees. The bath was great, the beds were comfy, but most of all, the staff were lovely and very attentive to any needs. Our pool was glorious, and we received cakes in our room every afternoon. The common pool near the eating area was also an infinity pool and totally gorgeous.

Our free massage was great, and Abdul the head chef's guided tour of the local fish market followed by a moroccan cooking class was absolutely fantastic. Abdul was so patient with our girls and allowed them to be involved in the class, and then invited our oldest into the kitchen the following Monday to help him cook chocolate cakes in the commercial kitchen. It was a real highlight of our holiday for her. And for our youngest, who got to taste. The food was incredible, although it seemed a shame that there was very little of that food on the dinner menu. My only criticism would be that whilst there were delicious breakfast options for the rest of the family (a la carte but included in the room price) with pancakes, fruit platters, mango smoothies and bread baskets, as someone who is really picky about my eggs, they tasted different enough to me that I didn't like them. There was a multitude of egg options on the menu, but I would also have enjoyed some bacon cooked well. I think there could be some improvement in the menu and delivery of the restaurant in general, as the food quality varied depending on whether Abdul was there or not. It didn't really matter too mach as there were so many fantastic eating places nearby, and there was always someone on hand to drop you off to your restaurant of choice, and collect, free of charge.

The owner made time to get about and introduce himself to all of us, and when he discovered I was interested in tropical design, lent me some of his own personal books that contributed to the creation of the villas. It truly was a unique and special boutique experience in amongst a landscape of massive impersonal luxury resorts. We loved it, and will return.

Room Tip: There are a lot of stairs to get to places. May not be great for people with low mobility.

With so many enjoyable memories from previous visits to Bali and staying at the Gending Kedis Villas, there was no hesitation in again making this the preferred place for our annual trip.
As per prior stays, the assigned villa was spacious, beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable.
The staff servicing the villa, as with those of the front desk, spa and restaurant, were courteous, prompt, helpful...and always, service with a smile !
The management, being aware we were avid golfers, arranged an added experience for us...a trip into the mountain area of Bali and to play the oldest course on the island at Bedugul...great stuff !
We are already planning for our next "annual" to Bali and Gending Kedis.

We have recently returned from six nights at the Gending Kedis and absolutely loved it. It is the right combination of quality accommodation at a good price. We stayed in a one bedroom villa, which had a kitchen diner, lounge and balcony on the top floor, with the bedroom, bathroom and pool area underneath. More than enough space for two people. The villas are well equipped with pretty much everything you would need for your holiday. They are not of the very highest standard, but then again you are not paying Four Seasons prices either. That said, there is nothing wrong with them.

The breakfast on offer each day, which mainly consisted of eggs, bread and fruit, kept us full until an evening meal and is more than sufficient.

The service provided by the staff is superb and they are always willing to help you. The free shuttle to Jimbaran Bay is also handy.

Bali has so many choices when it comes to Villas, but from my experience the Gending Kedis is as good a choice as any.

Room Tip: We stayed in villa 19, which is down quite a few steps, but is quiet and secluded.

I booked the 4 bedroom villa for a celebration and it had ample room and great living spaces with a private pool. the quality of the fit out was terrific and the propery was clean and very well appointed with facilities and services. The staff are sensational - professional , smiling and so helpful. The resort has a great restaurant and breakfast was brilliant - you could also have it in your villa. The bar is very good and they have a very stylish spa - I looked at the cool gym but prefered the pool to relax in. It is in a great location with so much to do in the area - Rock bar, Sundara, Rimba and Cuca to mention a few and top restuarants are well priced for value. Some great beach clubs like Finns nearby. They provide local transport and airport transfers if you need it. The place is run by a lovely scottish fellow called Dougie who makes himself known to you and goes out of his way to ensure you have a great stay. This a great and quiet alternative to Nusa Dua and the busier area of Seminyak. I would highly recommend this place for groups, celebrations and families and they have smaller villas as well - we had a great time and will return.

Room Tip: The Kokokan 4 bedroom villa was perfect. The pool has an amazing view over a tranquil forest

My wife and I went here for our honeymoon late last year (December 2013) and I can tell you that till today (April 2014), we are still reminiscing about our lovely time at Gending Kedis.

When we first arrived, we were immediately met with a refreshing welcome drink (much needed in the humid weather of Bali) and then taken to our villa which was spacious, clean and beautiful to look at. We spent half of our time in the villa relaxing and the other half exploring the awesome (and affordable) restaurants in the Jimbaran area. Breakfasts were made fresh and were delicious, and the seafood you can find in the nearby cafes are sooooo good!

We also had an outdoor pool which we used several times and was cleaned every single morning. The best part of GK I must say was the outstanding service. Our driver Dika (for most of the time anyway), was a great host showing us around the Ubud area. He took us to the best local places to eat and recommended the best tourist attractions to visit. (The water temple is a must!) He was such a helpful friend in a place we hardly knew (which is always nice).

Thanks GK for making our honeymoon memorable! When we visit Bali again, we'll know where to go! Cheers,

Franklin & Julya

Room Tip: For those that want seclusion, ask for a room deeper in the Villa. Mind you, it can be a long walk s...

Just got back from a wonderful week at Gendings Kedis.
Everything was just perfect .A must for anyone wanting a quiet haven to have some quality R and and R. My friend and I felt like we were the only guests and were treated like royalty by the staff. The service and attention to detail was outstanding. Fresh fruit and small cakes are delivered daily to the Villa as well as full turn down service. A free shuttle is also provided to take guests to anywhere in the local area. We used the shuttle to go to a fabulous restaurant Cuca which was highly recommend - food was to die for.

We loved staying in this resort and will definitely be returning hopefully on an annual basis.

A really big thank you to Mr Douglas and all staff

This was my partner's first trip to Bali so I wanted it to be special for him - and this place totally fit the bill. The Villa - (with private pool) was lovely and was located at the far end of the complex so it was really quiet. The accommodation was of good quality and the little touches - welcome drinks on arrival, fruit in our room, little cakes delivered to our room every afternoon and even a turn-down service - made it feel special. Staff were unfailingly helpful -deserving of a special mention is Mahendra who was our guide for a day tour - he was perfect - knowledgeable, relaxed and friendly. The hotel also offered a free shuttle service into Jimbaran and venues nearby and there is butler service for those who don't want to move from their room.
We got a 30 minute massage as part of our package and I went back for more! The Spa is spotless and the service was excellent.
Would definitely recommend this for people wanting somewhere romantic to stay and who aren't too worried about being in the middle of everything!

Room Tip: We had villa 21 which was a 1 bedroom apartment - very quiet - perfect for couples who want to get a...
