We stopped here as part of a full day touring around with our driver. Very pleased we did. We felt the guide was very informative, we saw first hand all the processes for their kopi luwak coffee, we then had a private area for us to try a variety of coffee's. This was so much fun, I can't remember all the varieties but it was good to try them. Upon checking my receipt for the tour, I see all we actually paid was for the special cup of Luwak Coffee which was rp50000, we also purchased 2 gift packs at their shop which was rp110000 each (very reasonable), and a small jar of Peaberry Kopi Luwak coffee 60grams for r255000. So as for the tour and the samples, I can't seem to find a entry price for that part.

We thoroughly enjoyed it, but probably not something I would want to repeat, but glad we did it indeed.

It was my 2nd time to visit a coffee and spice plantation in Bali. I went with my husband 2 years ago but to a different location. I went with my adult daughter this time. To start with, It was pouring rain and the day was never meant for sightseeing. We were greeted by several guides holding big umbrellas in the thunderous storm. The reception was very confusing as there were several groups of tourists arriving at the same time. As there were only my daughter and I, the two of us had to struggle among the other groups to get an English speaking guide. It was a mess. Finally we decided to tag along with one other group to see the civets and the spice plantation. There were no explanation and we were hushed to the next thing where we had to find seats in a long table where different flavored drinks would be sampled. The whole experience was like heaven and hell compared with my last trip to one other plantation. We tasted the drinks and went with the other groups to their shop. As it was my daughter's first time to the plantation and tasted the Kopi Luwak coffee, she picked out 2 small jars of Kopi Luwak coffee plus some other packaged drinks. The total was roughly 800,000 rup. Needless to say, we were dripping wet as we tried to pay with umbrellas in one hand and a wallet in another. Meanwhile, a line of anxious tourists behind us waiting to pay and leave. My daughter took out eight 100,000 rup and counted with me. I took the bills and recounted the amount. A couple of minutes later, we heard the cashier girl yelling out that we were 100,000 rup. short. As my daughter tried to look over the counter, 3 other girls working there (not in the cashier area!) raised their voice, abetting the scam, stopping my daughter from checking the floor. I have read scam of slipping bills down the counters in currency exchanges but had never imagined that it would happen to me. It certainly was not Bali Pulina's fault. I write to alert other travelers so this would not happen to them. Hold on to your money and counted out the money in front of them. It is staffs like that that ruin its name.

Kopi luwak , or civet coffee refers to the beans of coffee berries once they have been eaten and excreted by the Asian Palm Civet .The name is also used for brewed coffee made from those beans. The civet eats the berries for their fleshy pulp. In the digestive tract, the civet's enzymes seep into the beans. Passing through a civet's intestines the beans are then defecated, keeping their shape.

Producers of the coffee beans argue that the process of passing through the civets digestive process improves the flavor profile.

We arrived at this beautiful place just before dusk. We were given a tour of the spices growing, we learn't about how this special coffee is made and tasted an array of teas and coffees.

I felt like we were in the most beautiful spot, overlooking tiered rice paddys. Highly recommended stop. Take the insect repellant.
