in advance, i would like you to know that i have no personal issue with this place and my review here is an honest and objective from my personal experience.

i've been visit the two previous park in prigen, east java and bogor. so when i decided to go here, i expect i'd be get the same excitement as my previous visit. but the time i arrive and entry to the gate, that time i know that i'm going thru a big dissapointment. the place itself was very small for a wild animal like lion, tiger, etc. and when i walked around by a tour bus, i've found many of animals are not in a good condition. they're all thin, awful and some of them are got sick. i'm not a veterinarian, but i have some pets at home and i love animals. i know when they're happy and healthy, or when they're sick and sad. none of them here are well treated. i guess, if they can speak up their mind, they'd like to ask some help from us to get them out of there.

i walked around for less than an hour and decide to eat at tsavo restaurant, the dining place that they said we can eat and experienced the roaring of lion beside the window. the fact is, yes there's a lion there (2 lions) but they seems not healthy and it's the same lion i've met when i walked around by the bus. they're not staying in the big field, running and roaring like in a wild life because the place they lived is not that big.

one good thing of this place is they surprisingly serve a good food (even its pricey). so after all, i beg you all not to visit this place, unless you support the management to torture the animals further.

Dear veenablue,

Thank you for the visit and sharing your thought about our park, and thank you for visiting our sister parks in Bogor and Prigen. As you might noticed that compared with our sister parks, Bali Safari & Marine Park offers different concept and experience. However our sister parks are indeed more suitable with domestic market expectation than our park here. Here in Bali we have to accommodate the expectation of both domestic and foreigner visitors, which obviously has different expectation.

With regard to our animals condition, we appreciate your concern very much, however regret that you did not ask to talk to our Curator so he could explain clearly about each animal condition. We are pleased to inform you that we have full and complete animal health records, and with close monitoring from our Australian Curator we could assure you that none of the animals are miss-treated here.
It is a common miss-understanding that for the uneducated the animals might not looks as active as they expected. However we would like to stress that these are wild animals each with their own character unlike home pets like dogs or domestic cats. The lions for instance, are carnivores. During the day the temperature gets very high and if you look around the park you will see that most of the animals and all the carnivores are sleepy and relaxing. Plus they have just enjoyed their morning meals. As you might know that big cats in the wild are mostly sleeping and relaxing during day time, but once the sun goes down they will be active and roaming around.

We do encourage or visitors to contact our Curator if they have any concerns about the collection so that he may be able to help with answers and true facts so misunderstanding like this don’t happen.

Sincerely,
Bali Safari & Marine Park

This is not safari, if you sit in the big bus wit a big tourist group. Safari means, that animals are basically "free" on big territory, but this is just an usual small zoopark. It wasn't as we expected and the ticket price was quite high

Bali Safari was really a fun filled informative day out. We decided on the leopard package for $99 US which included hotel transfers, park entry, safari tour, animal education show, elephant show, Bali Agung dance performance, a photo with a baby lion, I really yummy Buffett lunch & much more. The park was clean, the staff were friendly and the the variety of animals was amazing not to mention the knowledge that the guides were able to share wit us.

I love this place, it is so different to any zoo I have ever been too. I love that you can get up close with some of the animals, we were able to nurse a baby Chimp & have our photo take with a tiger. The elephant ride is also worth the time to take. There is something here for the whole family to love. There is also a pool where you can cool off before going down the rides section. Some of the rides are a bit old school but we had alot of fun on them.
